"Stayed for 1 night as we were supposed to see a band (cancelled due to this coronavirus outbreak). Very strange times but made to feel so welcome in this lovely hotel. The staff were absolutely brilliant and gave us all the safety information and advice needed while staying. Dave who booked us in was so friendly and helpful. Room was great with fantastic view of the millennium bridge. Such a shame the announcement came to close all pubs and restaurants that night and the quayside became like a ghost town. The hotel restaurant stayed open for residents only and the food was amazing. They had good hygiene restrictions in place and residents were spaced out at least 2 meters from each other in the restaurant. The young waiter was so friendly & nothing was a problem for him - we felt so sorry for all the staff as it meant they were probably losing their jobs but they all kept so upbeat. Definitely will stay there again when this madness settles down and recommend it 100%. Food delicious, amazing staff and lovely rooms - try to get a room with a view. When checking out the staff said the hotel was remaining open unless ordered otherwise but hopefully it will all get back to normal sooner rather than later."
"You cannot get a better location in Newcastle than this. About 30 metres from the Millennium bridge, across the river from the Baltic building and 10 minutes walk from the centre of town. Perfect. The decor in the entire hotel is the usual Malmaison corporate style, which is very nicely done. The bar area really is something else. Our room was very well proportioned, comfortable and well equipped with a mini-bar, safe, iron, etc. The view from our window was disappointing but the views from the front must be amazing. The staff, as usual for Malmaison, were excellent despite the looming threat from Coronavirus. Our waiter at breakfast (Tirsko?) was a real professional, as was the cocktail waiter. I would love to come again."
"Having stayed at other Malmaison hotels I was expecting a very high standard. I was somewhat disappointed. On entering the reception area it was not easy to find the desk as it was so dark inside. Our room was comfortable and looked out over the Millennium Bridge and the Tyne which was very interesting. However, the decor was all black and grey which didn't really appeal to me. The bed was huge and very comfortable. Our package gave us an evening meal as well as breakfasts. The food was very good but there was a really limited menu especially as I am vegetarian.. Breakfast was a bit of a nightmare. All the buffet was still there but served individually by one member of staff. This led to enormous queues. Throughout the hotel there did not seem to be enough staff. We are both disabled but there was no help with luggage. We enjoyed Newcastle. I never realised that it still had some city walls and our walk along the history trail was very enjoyable. The shopping in Newcastle is also excellent"

"I stayed here with my partner and a friend for the Newcastle-Burnley bore draw on 29 February 2020. It was my first visit to this Premier Inn (in the past we have stayed at The Gate, which is better placed for St. James' Park). Anyway ... we had a very good stay at the Millennium Bridge - the staff in particular were very friendly and could not do enough for you. My friend and I had a really nice evening meal in the Thyme restaurant as well, where Susan looked after us very well. Only a couple of housekeeping issues - minimal (and I mean minimal!) toilet paper and 1 bath towel between 2 people - stops me giving 5 stars. (Although in each case Reception rectified the problem immediately.) One thing to bear in mind is that there is no air conditioning in the rooms - not an issue in February, but might well be in July. I didn't travel by car but did notice that the car park seemed very small. I believe you have to pay to use it as well. It's a taxi ride or longish walk into town or the football ground. The Millennium Bridge is (obviously!) near to the hotel and well worth a visit/photo. Overall I would thoroughly recommend this hotel and would use it again. Newcastle itself is also a great city to visit, with a friendly vibe."
"We had an excellent stay overnight whilst in Newcastle for a hospital visit. The stay was made excellent because of the delightful receptionist Angela. She was so pleasant and helpful. We were pleasantly surprised with the quality of the take away evening meal and of course enjoyed the premier Inn breakfast."
"Nice hotel , nice breakfast , in a quieter location . Says a minutes from all the action but this is minutes driving . Not waking . 10 mins to 1 restaurant , 30 mins or so walking to main city centre . The receptionist was really friendly , can’t remember what his name was . Youngish with brown hair . Rooms were lovely . Not cleaned on the 2nd days . Not sure why so we didn’t have clean cups . I think you have to request it. Price was incredible for what we got. "

"Absolutely stunning value for this grade of hotel for a Sunday night. Surprised the kitchen was open too, which was very handy. Staff were great! Obviously a great location if you need to get into the city early on a Monday morning. Had a river view room too, love the changing colours of the millennium bridge !"
"I stay here often for work & it is a great hotel with excellent buffet breakfast, friendly staff and good sized bedrooms. It’s close proximity to the Tyne bridge, Millennium bridge, the Sage Arts centre and Baltic Exchange Art museum mean you should consider this fir your stay in Newcastle. The shops are a 5 minute taxi ride or 15 minute uphill walk."
"Stayed for 1 night its a great hotel brilliant location and plenty of parking.I would recommend this hotel comfy beds clean rooms .The staff are so friendly and you receive a warm welcome at reception."

Hobson Avenue, South Tyneside, Tyne and Wear, United Kingdom
"We stayed for two nights in two rooms and the best thing about this hotel are the staff who are very friendly and helpful. My first room had a horrible smell in it and there was an apology as soon as I mentioned it and no problem in moving rooms. The rooms themselves are tired compared to other Premier Inn’s we have recently stayed in. The hairdryer did not work in one room and the shower was very hard to turn on and off. These were both resolved whilst we were out for the day. In the second room, the hairdryer plug was built in and to switch the plug socket on we had to go under the desk which is not great. The rooms also need plugs by both sides of the bed. Most people now use their phones as alarm clocks and want to charge them overnight so plugs are needed on both sides. We had an evening meal in the restaurant which we enjoyed so we booked breakfast but this was not worth the money and we went elsewhere on our second morning. "
"Had a lovely long weekend here. The room although basic was clean and comfortable. Staff were very friendly. The hotel and attached restaurant were both very covid safe. The only negatives were that the rooms could be a little bit quieter. I don't think hearing your neighbour being violently sick at 11am is very relaxing and when walking down the corridor you can hear people's conversations or tv's. Overall not a bad experience and we certainly didn't let it spoil our time away."
"Booked in for two nights and arrived mid afternoon. Room was slightly smaller than a lot we've stopped in and quite jaded. The bathroom especially looked old with a bath with shower over and taps with limescale and rust over/around them and a very noisy toilet flush sounding like a trombone ... and as we found out so did many of the other rooms. What an horrific din! The hotel is located on a major road and the double glazing ineffective meaning it didn't cut out the traffic hum so sleeping wasn't easy until the very early hours when the traffic lulled. In view of the current Coronavirus issues I had brought anti-bacterial wipes and on entering wiped down all surfaces in the room ... OMG the wipes were filthy once I'd finished . We won't be using this particular Premier again."

"We stayed here for a friend's birthday as it was cheap and in all honesty we looked at it as only somewhere to sleep. The staff were all lovely and very helpful, absolute credits to the company, especially Tom the manager. Rooms were very spacious, clean and comfy. Hairdryer and iron were available on request and staff were more than happy to get them for us. Check in was very quick and easy, however the stairs were a workout when getting back at 4am. All in all was a fantastic stay and would heavily recommend, especially if you're there for a weekend of drinking. Will definitely be going back."
"I know the saying ‘you get what you pay for’ and yes it was a brilliant price for a large group of us for one night...but wow even if I was offered a complimentary stay, I wouldn’t be going back. Upon arriving, impressions were not too bad. It was a little strange entering the entrance to accommodation through a nightclub but having known our accommodation was situated above the establishment I suppose this is the norm. The amount of stairs nearly killed us off but will definitely have helped burn off the calories from all the drinking! Then we arrived upstairs! We had booked 3 rooms for a group of us. The first room included a bathroom which was in a good and clean condition. However there were patches of paint stripped off the wall and stained bedsheets. The next 2 rooms were at the far end of the hallway and had no toilet facilities within them but instead a shared toilet cubicle and a shared bathroom. The toilet had no toilet seat attached to it and the lock on the door was broken.... In one of the rooms the roof began leaking brown water all over the beds during the night, meaning we had to move the beds out of the way and place the bin under the leak...luckily no one was in the beds directly below this. When this was mentioned to a member of staff in the morning there was no apology but instead we were told ‘thanks for letting me know’. The clothes rail in this room was also half hanging off and when I closed the curtains the whole curtain pole fell down on top of me! Upon using the tea/coffee making facilities we found that the milk had gone off when we poured it out and it came out as a sludgy lump- disgusting! I’m aware that for a cheaply priced accommodation above a nightclub we should not expect a 5 star experience, but even in a homeless shelter I would expect a toilet seat...."
"I booked this place as it was a cheap option for a night as I was at an event with my 2 sons . I had booked this unaware that it was above a nightclub and was very disappointed on arrival . We were shown to our room by a very nice staff member and with it being a saturday and as stated above a nightclub was not expecting a good nights sleep . The room had 4 beds and was basic but was clean and fresh . It overlooked the high street and again was not noisy . If you are hungry step outside theres a choice of take aways . We slept really well and left refreshed next morning . I would not stop there for a family stay again ,but if your going for a clubbing session and want to crash after .you can get a room for 4 for around a tenner each and its got a club attached ."

"Stayed Sat night for Valentines treat from hubby checked in lovely friendly girl on reception room was lovely comfy bed everything you needed lovely and warm on such an awful stormy night and I was so pleased to find a small fan in the wardrobe as I sleep with one beside my bed at home so that was a bonus bottle of wine in cooler left in room was nice touch has afternoon tea as part of the package served by lovely friendly girl and it was beautiful sandwiches and cakes so tasty glass of Prosecco as well had very early breakfast on Sunday morning as had to leave to get home for grandparent babysitting duties so just had fruit and toast and coffee all in all had perfect stay and big shout out to all the very hardworking staff who had very long busy days late nights and early starts and still managed to stay so cheerful once home realised I had left my fone charger in room rang up and housekeeping had handed it in to reception and as we pass by hotel on way home from work popped in and it was in an envelope waiting for me big thankyou to everyone for a lovely stay "
"My wife and I have stayed at most of the Peel Hotels for a Winter break and this has to be up there as probably the best of an excellent bunch. First and foremost the staff - a really good; genuine welcome from Laura on reception, for whom nothing was too much trouble; outstanding, personable yet unfussy service from Abi and Rachel in the restaurant; and quiet background efficiency from others in housekeeping and the kitchen. The meals were excellent - individually prepared, even breakfast, varied, hot, well-arranged and -prepared - one slightly dry cake as part of one sweet was the only fault I could find. The rooms and corridors were clearly recently and attractively re-furbished, and the location, with immediate car parking, a city centre bus-stop right outside, and a pleasant and interesting local environment, couldn't have been bettered. I'm rarely so effusive about a hotel."
"On 29 February 12 of us had booked to stay for the night here. The hotel is 1.7 miles £8.40 from train station. On arrival, check in was easy and staff very helpful. The room was clean and spacious with a tv, kettle clean towels and comfy pillows. The only slight issue, was the key cards didn’t work first time but a couple of swipes and you was in. Toiletries are provided in shower, and biscuits with your brew kit. The staff I couldn’t fault at all, ordering taxis into town which was on time to the breakfast in the morning which was plentiful and tasty. All in all a great location, friendly hotel and I would definitely use it again when I’m back for the football. Well done to all involved. And thank you."

"We had a wonderful 6 night stay at this lovely hotel restaurant. Our room had recently been refurbished to a very high standard. The large walk-in shower had a thermostatic mixer so the temperature was stable and the rest of the shower room was perfect. The bedroom area was clean and well-appointed, with a comfortable bed, chair, dressing table with separate mirror, plenty of storage and a smart TV with many features including Netflix. Wi-Fi was fast (43Mb/s measured) and free with no password and a strong signal (room 1). The staff were all so friendly and very accommodating. My wife unfortunately spent nearly 3 days in bed with a nasty virus and they did everything to ease the situation. I asked for a second door pass card and got it within a few minutes. The restaurant made her a sandwich because she couldn’t get to breakfast. They cleaned only what we asked because she was in bed. Great service in all respects. The food is simply to die for. Huge choice of high quality fare, big portions and fast service. I need to make a special mention of the Steak and Ale pie and the Steak and kidney pudding. I rarely risk ordering pies because in all cases elsewhere I’ve been disappointed, but not here. They are genuinely “homemade” in their kitchen and are FULL of juicy tender meat. This is literally the only where place I could recommend the pies! Overall, a perfect experience!"
"Myself and my son went for lunch and we weren’t disappointed. This place can be seen from the motorway but is a little tricky to get to as the road is narrow but you won’t be disappointed when you get there, car park has plenty of spaces to park, inside it is very welcoming and spacious and the staff are very attentive and helpful. The choices on the menu are very varied with a lot of choices and although a little pricey the meals are exceptional, I chose the chicken with haggis and whiskey sauce and my son chose the chicken fajita sizzling platter, both meals were very nice and filling, if you have room for a dessert there is plenty to choose from, with daily specials, I had the mixed berry mess and my son the strawberry cheesecake, I did get pictures of our main meals but not of our desserts as we just went for them, they were extra yummy. I’ve heard Sunday lunch is delicious so will be trying that next, will most likely boot that as I can imagine it to be busy"
"This is our 3rd visit to the hotel. We were staying in a family room with my disabled sister and 85 year old mum. The shower was over the bath and not suitable for them. The manager immediately changed our room to one that had a lovely walk in shower. We ate in the hotel restaurant both nights we stayed. The food was lovely both nights. Breakfast excellent. Will stay again when we go up north. "

"The interior and the quality of the rooms are excellent. The staff are lovely and nothing is too much trouble. The location is easily accessible and has a Beefeater, McDonald’s and garage on site. The premier is situated on a busy roundabout, but with the windows closed you can’t hear the traffic."
"Very comfy room and friendly reception. Room was very clean and the lady and reception was very friendly. All in all a very comfy room and a great nights sleep for a very competive price. Much prefer premier inn to the competion starting with a 'T'. "
"The bed and room is large for our family. The breakfast was excellent! overall, we had the best stay here.will definitely stay here again next time when we come to UK and Newcastle Upon Tyne. There were ample place to park your car."
