"I have always loved this hotel, ever since my adolescence . but even more so since it's been entirely refurbished. If you are looking for a special place to celebrate an important event, then this is the place. The staff are very friendly and kind, and also with small children. The rooms make you feel like you are an empress ! The sunset and the sea view will be things you remember forever. The beautiful pool is also a lovely place to relax. Even if the weather is poor, this place retains its special magic. Everybody will make you feel very welcome. "
"Definitely the classiest hotel ever! Gorgeous old world decor ! The property ! The views ! The way you are treated here is like a princess ....originally built by Napoleon for Princess Eugénie ..... although the original burned this hotel was rebuilt and all the luxury and class have been experienced by the rich and famous for decades ... A real special treat ! "
"If you're looking for old fashioned glamour and service you can't go past this Hotel. Right on the beachfront with a dining room and huge pool area looking over the Ocean and beautifully decorated huge rooms, which is such a rarity in France. Sadly down for renovation for 8 months but will definitely return next year."

"We stayed at Le Regina Biarritz for three nights and were very pleased with our choice! The hotel is extremely comfortable, and all the staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly. We were especially impressed with Eric the Concierge and Jean Baptist’s the Sommelier who both gave exceptionally good service. Our room had very good views of the sea and the lighthouse. The restaurant was very good for dinner, and the €39 menu was a very good deal - we liked it so much that we had dinner in 5he restaurant on all three nights we were there. The breakfast was in the same location as dinner and was good, but at the busiest times the demand for the hot buffet caused a shortage of cooked food on offer. The gym was ok, but for a five star hotel could have been a bit larger and offered more equipment. All the time I was there it was busy. Biarritz is a lovely destination and we were blessed with very nice and unseasonably warm weather ( we fortunately left the day that Storm Amélie arrived!) Nearby St Jean Du Lux was also worth a visit. Overall a very nice and enjoyable stay at Le Regina. Berkshire Jpb"
"Welcoming property with huge lobby in the middle of overseeing rooms. Rooms ample enough with great amenities in the bathroom. Easily accessible and good parking facilites. Attendees and staff in general are very well trained and maintain a great attitude for support and making one's stay memorable. Quick note about how carful they are. I travelled with my wife and our 7 year old boy. Upon arrival a small bed for him for very well made, next to the king size, and as token, he was greeted with chocolates on the pillow, a small towel and Little Prince liveried shampoo and bath gel. It kind of shows that management is into the details. Breakfast was great, at a cost of course, but very well provided in terms of presentation and availability. Overall, we would definitely go back if we ever go back to Biarritz or its surroundings."
"At the Le Regine Hotel was excellent choice for staying 2 nights at Biarritz, great service, free Valet Parking 24 hours. Excellent breakfast. The rooms very modern and with a very clean Hotel. A lot of open spaces in all areas. The service cannot be better! "

"We booked an overnight stay for December 26 via the Relais and Chateaux website, including making dinner reservations at the property's Michelin-starred restaurant -- our whole reason for going to this particular hotel. We paid one-third in advance for a non-refundable room. Two days later we got an unapologetic email from the hotel noting their restaurant would be closed and offering to make reservations for us elsewhere, but notably without offering to refund our deposit so we could book elsewhere. This was to be only the first of several disappointments. Perhaps because December 26 is a public holiday, the hotel appeared understaffed and not particularly welcoming. We were offered no assistance with our bags. The view from our room was marred by a gardener, his truck, and his loud leaf-blower which he operated for 45 minutes. The room itself was fine, if sparely furnished (no slippers, eg) -- see below re room warning! The staff explained that the front door would be locked at night, but they helpfully provided us with a code to enter. Upon returning from our dinner 20 minutes away a little after 10 pm, we were a bit surprised to find our key (and that of several other guests) left out on the unattended reception table -- a questionable security practice -- but perhaps one necessitated by the oversized keys not being very user-friendly to carry around. Once back in our room, my wife, who has a shoulder injury, was disappointed to find that her request for soft pillows had been ignored -- but of course it was now past ten pm and there was no one to call to rectify this mistake. We both had a rather difficult night's sleep on the slab-like foam pillows provided. The next morning, we had specifically requested an early breakfast at 0800 (breakfast normally starts, apparently, at 0830 which seems late). When we came down at 0800, we found the staff just starting to lay out breakfast items --- sloowly -- and indeed when we finished our breakfast at 0820 in order to get on the road, they were still laying out most of the food. This did not stop the hotel from charging us full-price for our two breakfasts. Because we were in a hurry, I had used two large water glasses for our juice as I didn't want to have to go back for refills. The staff member who might perhaps have better spent her time putting out the food items nonetheless felt it necessary to upbraid me for "using the wrong glass." Lol. Great hospitality! One warning for those still intending to stay at this rather unwelcoming property (perhaps the worst Relais & Chateaux we have stayed at in 30 years of frequenting these properties) -- don't take anything from the room! Usually there are branded promotional items -- corkscrews or bottle openers, laundry bags, or similar small items which the hotels are happy to allow guests to take as they promote the brand, etc. In our case a small zippered cloth bag filled with Auberge promotional material and branded with a l"
"Out of the bustle of the coast stands the Auberge Basque at the top of a slight hill basking in a well deserved reputation for excellence. From the moment we arrived for a two night stay it was obvious the boss’ research had paid dividends and we were in a superb hotel. The staff were, to a person, lovely, helpful, knowledgeable and truly professional. The room was near perfect and the food exquisite. To be honest I have rather given up writing TA reviews feeling it unfair to be negative on the strength of one visit and generally being happy with the places we stay. However I was outraged by the review posted on this site by someone who, amongst other things, was complaining about being charged for items they had stolen from the hotel. Their “experience” of the Auberge Basque was so far removed from ours I can only conclude it was either a fiction or written by the sort of person one hopes never to bump into. I could not let it stand unchallenged - believe me it is garbage. Well done to all at the Auberge - you are doing a wonderful job."
"The dinner reviews on TA for the restaurant are fair enough, so this is purely about the hotel. There are some very clever design details, many of which work, some don’t. The views from the terrace are world class. Most of the staff are young, charming and well intentioned, albeit with a high degree of self consciousness. I got the overall impression that too much is done for the sake of “being different”, with too little thought given to the guest experience. So if you don’t want chocolate chips in your muesli, the only alternative is one flavoured with curry. Want a swim before breakfast? Forget it - the pool cannot be used before 10.00 (checkout is 11.00). Fancy a refreshing orange juice with breakfast in July - no again, oranges are “out of season”, (although, perversely, they were sufficiently seasonal to have been included in a mixed juice of vegetables and fruit). The open plan kitchen is a nice idea but the cooking smells were truly awful at breakfast, presumably because the extraction was off - it wasn’t like that over dinner. The prepping of the constituent parts of dishes that are delicious when finished, say the boiling up of fish bones or the frying of garlic, is pretty unattractive with your yoghurt and Muesli, whether curried or chocolate flavoured. Frankly, I would strongly recommend staying in one of the excellent hotels on the coast and taking a taxi to the Auberge for dinner. "

"well located at a quiet street 5 minutes walking from the sea and 10 minutes from saint jean de luz centre the service was very good. the owner of the property is checking himself that all works well the gardens of the property are really beautifull, neatly maintained the hotel has a main building, separate pavillions and towers. all the complex has an atonishingly attractive art decó decoration. the common areas, same at the main building as at the pavillions near the swimming pool are as charming as a guest will hardly find in other hotels my room was in one of the towers. the size was sufficient. the bed was good. the free wifi was very good. there was sufficient storage space for the luggage. the minibar had sufficient choice. the tv had a good channels selection with french, spanish and international network. the bathroom was very well equippped. the jacuzzi was appreciated. i missed a coffee maker in the room. lightning and soundproofing were good i did not use use neither the climatized swimming pool nor the spa facilities the restaurant was excellent and we enjoyed a great dinner easy parking space is offered for free breakfast was not a buffet, but a choice from several items in a list, which was ok, but was the weak part of my stay. the pastries selection was unsufficient not cheap, but not too expensive considering the standards of the hotel. i consider that the value for money was very good i would have rated this hotel with 5* if i had found a coffee maker in the room and breakfast had been better this hotel is recommended. i would most probably return to this hotel when staying in saint jean de luz"
"I must thank all the employees for the utmost of care and comfort during my four night stay in one of the most exquisite settings in all of Saint Jean de Luz. This beautiful chateaux houses the most interesting antiques taking you back in time. Situated in opulent gardens to enjoy, yet only a 20 minute to walk into the bustle of town and the seashore. Top quality of service, from top management to the groundskeeper, something lacking in many hotels of this day. Whether permitted a decadent breakfast in the garden. My dinner in their renowned restaurant was elegant and refined. Looking forward to another visit."
"This is a super hotel with the luxury of gardens and an outdoor pool yet close to the beach and the centre of town. The only thing we missed was tea and coffee service in the room. The staff were extremely nice and helpful, with good English, and the restaurant is top class albeit very expensive, especially the wines, compared with what you pay for a good restaurant in the town. Would highly recommend although I agree with some of the other comments about housekeeping as we had toiletries that had already been opened/used and they weren't always topped up."

"What a great place to hole up in the winter wind and rain! (Although I'm sure it is lovely in the summer time too!) We stayed a night for my wife's birthday and had a very pleasant stay. The rooms have been decorated very tastefully and we were fortunate to have a corner room with views over the bay and down the coast. We would definitely recommend a sea view. The staff were excellent - professional and polished but not too formal. We ate in the (non-michelin star) restaurant which was superb. I can only guess that the other restaurant must be pretty impressive! St Jean de Luz itself is a lovely little town, in a beautiful bay. Plus there are other lovely places to visit, not far away. We would highly recommend :)"
" Three nights in this small resort town and very much enjoyed the Grand Hotel. We had booked a standard room with a sea view - relatively small but as expected, and nicely appointed It was evident that the whole ethos is of charm from a prior era and what set the place apart was the kind service: from reception to concierge to bar staff to spa staff - all exceptionally willing to help and guide. A special note to Benoît who found us bookings at local restaurants and informed ahead for dietary restrictions- much appreciated Spa is well appointed with sauna, steam room, salt room and a salt water (Thalasso) heated pool"
"Great place to stay and relax .Amazing spa with pool and steam room. Room very small, but very cozy. Great Small touches, such as fresh orchids and candies, great toiletry(bvlgary) and very efficient service. Our room was not ready, for the time waiting 20 min we were offered complimentary cocktails in the restaurant. The atmosphere was very vital in this place. The hotel has amazing sandy beach and nice terrace .I had a feeling that I've been here 100 years ago and enjoyed every minute which I spent there."

"Not normallythe type of place I eat in - but most other places were closed on a Tuesday in January. Great fish, finely seasoned (including hints of saffron and espellete) with finely diced corgetes and a couple of perfectly cooked potate wedges (they could have been more generous there) followed by an excellent frangipani tart with a good ice cream. Knowledgable and helpful waitstaff. Art deco surrounds. Couldn't ask for more. As expected it was a bit pricey (54 Euro for two), well worth it but not something i would do every week."
"The hotel is well located and we stayed there as they could accommodate our dog. The facilities are clean and most of the staff are helpful. They serve a very sloppy scrambled egg for breakfast which is standard and awful. One day they let us order fried eggs but the next day they said scrambled eggs was all that was available. They made a crepe for my son one afternoon but when we tried to order one for desert later the next day they said it was not possible. They store dark chunky furniture from the rooms on the dark carpeted landings which make it perilous for those who choose to use the stairs and when both myself and my son injured ourselves on them their receptionist apologised and said we should use the lift like most guests-We were on the first floor and waiting for the lift was silly. Also, this is a fire escape and should not be hampered with excess furniture. The stairs/fire escape are further narrowed on the ground floor by boxes of magazines, bicycles and people’s suitcases at various times. I would not stay here again nor recommend it to my friends despite the location, as they seem to have arbitrary and petty rules and are not guest orientated. "
"This hotel is in a great location in Biarritz. Very central and with a beautiful ocean view. The rooms are fine. The food at the restaurant is pretty good. What’s missing is the service component. When we arrived and had several bags there was no option or offer to help us with our bags. They seemed very uninterested and it just wasn’t offered. No one asked us how our stay was at the end. They really didn’t care and you could tell. We are used to 4 and 5 star hotels and you usually get better service. This place should be a three star. It’s not a bad place but it doesn’t stand out and lack of service is the reason. "

"La Reserve in Saint-Jean-de-Luz is everything one could ask of an upscale hotel in an upscale tourist town - elegant, quiet, comfortable - yet it is equally friendly to families with young children with a host of amenities. Situated with a stunning view overlooking the Atlantic and toward Biarritz, La Reserve has much to recommend it. The two minor complaints we had were that the restaurant was not open on Monday evening, so we had to go into town for dinner, and the double room we had was a bit on the small side, though the room's appointments were very nice. Best of all, our room had a balcony where we could sit to look over the ocean, and we were able to sleep with the window open and hear the surf break on the shore below. The staff was very helpful and friendly, and the breakfast buffet was extensive. La Reserve would make a good choice for day trips out into the Basque country."
"stayed for stayed 3 nights in a comfort apartment. Room 306. The grounds and views are beautiful. Excellent walking areas along the coast. We like having a large room with a kitchenette and this covered that. The huge terrace and views were amazing. The decor of the apartment was a little dated, but worked out fine. The bath area seemed to be updated. Private parking. Excellent staff and service. What a lovely area."
"Whilst it was a nice hotel with a lovely terrace for dinner, we were disappointed with the minuscule size of our double room. Nowhere to put anything down, it was difficult, even for one night. The staff were all very efficient and we enjoyed a pleasant dinner with friends on the terrace, a lovely summer evening. Hotel had a nice pool for relaxing by and nice walks in both directions - about 15min walk into the lovely town where they have a great open and covered market. The river also made a pretty walk. Good base for visiting Biarritz, Bayonne and the Basque Country. "

"My husband and I like to visit Biarritz any time we possibly can, but much to his chagrin, I left him at home this time to bring my best friend instead. She’d never visited Biarritz before and I thought Hôtel de Silhouette was perfect to stay near my beloved Les Halles and be a short walk to the beach. It’s an absolutely lovely hotel in a perfect location and the garden is a wonderful spot to take a break in the shade with a glass of wine. For these things alone, I’d stay here again. Our room, however, was odd and NOT one I’d get again when staying with a friend even a best friend. We were at the end of the hall and had one window that opened up to the not-so-lovely smell of exhaust from the drive nearby so it stayed shut, which made it stuffy even with the air con on. I liked the tiny sitting room with the TV because it gave a place to go when my friend was in the shower - thanks for asking, why would I need to do that? Because the shower room is literally open to the bedroom and for no reason (the photo I attached is the view directly into the shower from the main room). They could easily put privacy glass or a curtain or maybe even go so far as a sliding door shutting off the bathroom...but there was nothing. Aside from the awkwardness, an open shower is also just drafty. Just...odd. Aside from that, I didn’t exactly love that we’d stored our luggage in the luggage closet for the afternoon before our flight and when we came back a few hours later, it was all sitting next to the reception desk for no reason I could quite understand. Again, just odd. Despite that, it is a nice-looking hotel in a great area and with a peaceful garden to take a break in so I’d give it another try. In a different room!"
"I love the Silhouette - right across the street from the Halles, which is the main market, and it's grouping of excellent restaurants. Although my room was small and without a view, I didn't mind because it was quiet and the sleep was excellent. And I spent most of my time on the beach, in the shops, or reading in the beautiful garden of the hotel. The staff are wonderful, and so helpful and friendly. Breakfast was good, especially the bread. The hotel is a quick 10-15 minute drive to the main Biarritz train station, and a really quick stroll to the large surfer beach (which is excellent for swimming too at low tide), but also very close to the small beach and the swimming beach. I loved the shopping in Biarritz, and the hotel has a super cheese shop nearly opposite, an espadrille shop next to the entrance, and wonderful delicatessens all around. Highly recommended. It is possible to have a view from the higher floors, but I'd be sure to call the hotel in advance to ensure you have that booked, and it will be a view of the ocean (it's a middle-of-town hotel, not right on the beach). That said, it's great for returning after dinner because it's close to all the main restaurant locations."
"Charming hotel in the heart of the city! Excellent location and close to everything. 15 min by taxi from the train station, 1/2h walk to the bus station, 5 min walk to the beach . Very friendly staff (especially Kati), great room service, clean room, comfortable beds and nice bedding and fluffy towels. The only negative is that our window was right outside of the garden patio and ppl would stay and talk loud (late in the eve) and smoke would fill the room, I would pref to have my windows open when it’s nice and breezy outside. Overall beautiful property that we highly recommend. "
