Ban Muangsong, Vang Vieng, Vientiane, Laos
"Thank you to the manager, he speaks English very well and did everything in his power to make it a successful holiday. He organized the pick up from Vientiane, it takes 3 hours. We weren't so happy with the driver as he was speeding as he had another client after us and his boss called him all the time, he was juggling with two phones. So on the way back to the airport, he asked for a safe driver and the trip was much nicer. The manager Vilasayk helped us book the hot air ballon tour (much cheaper than in town), organized a tuk tuk to the blue lagoon and to the water cave. Its easy to do it yourself, no need to book a tour. We just booked a tour with guides to do the secret garden trek (amazing). For the last night we weren't sure whether we wanted to stay in Vang Vieng or Vientiane so we hadn't booked it yet. The town was too noisy and busy, we compared with Lisha and Diamond resort, but the rooms at Lisha had a moldy scent. We much more prefered the rooms at Savanh Sunset View. The manager gave us a good discount for the last night. The rooms are nice, beds are compfy. There are only 2 downsides, the rooms aren't very sound proof so when the other guests are noisy, you can hear everything. A lot of Korean tour groups but I guess they are everywhere. We also didn't like the breakfast so much and it was only open until 9am. But the friendliness of the manager and the location/view of the hotel are reason why we'd come back. Thank you very much!"
"We stayed for two nights with our kids aged 9 and 7. The hotel arranged tuk tuk pick-up from our bus drop-off point. The welcome and service was warm and competent. Our first floor family room was large and comfortable, with a corner balcony overlooking the pool on one side and beautiful limestone hill scenery on the other. The kids loved the pool, especially the fun water slide. The atmosphere was quiet and peaceful (despite some building work going in next door). Breakfast was good. The main cooked choice was an excellent soup noodles with a choice of chicken, pork or vegetarian. There were also the usual choice of eggs, sausages and plenty of fresh fruit. The hotel is a five minute tuk tuk ride from town. After the first trip in we walked the 15 minute journey as it was an interesting stroll past local houses, shops, roadside stalls and a temple. Our kids even had an impromptu lesson in planting rice from some friendly Laotian children in the rice paddy opposite the hotel entrance! The hotel organised onward travel and are able to set up excursions to the Elephant Sanctuary and hot air balloon trips if required. All in all a very good hotel to be based in to explore Vang Vieng. Excellent value, friendly service, comfortable rooms and top pool! "
"It’s surprising what you get for a couple of $$ more. Excellent hotel, great manager and staff, sooo clean. Pool fantastic - spent about 3 hours in here every day and had the whole pool pretty much to ourselves, room perfect, good breakfast - would be hard to find fault. Stayed 4 nights, could have easily stayed for longer. 10 minute walk to town. Superb! Thanks guys, my daughters favorite so far on our 3 month trek."
