Check in was poor as queued for some time to be seen, clearly not enough staff. I had arrived slightly before check in time however was told quite abruptly to return later. Previous guests were offered a welcome drink, I was not. The light in the room was flickering badly so called reception, there was no answer despite trying many times. I reported it to reception in person and despite chasing up twice this was not addressed. The cafetière wasn’t cleaned which I also mentioned. I reiterated again when I was asked how my stay was at checkout to be given a blank look and no comment or response, instead almost as if I had not given honest feedback was asked in a rehe****d type manner ‘do you have any plans for the day’ which I’m sure must be scripted since I’d just feedback the issues I had experienced. Asked for a manager to contact me as one wasn’t available and to date have not heard from them. Spa was underwhelming, poolside showers didn’t work, you can’t turn them off. The place was overrun with day guests, many who were drinking alcohol and became loud, not the relaxing vibe I had expected. Sauna’s were cold as guests had left the doors open. The whirlpools are on timers so didn’t get to use them as so many people were already waiting. The bar service was very good, it was very quiet in there. Dinner in Mayflower was underwhelming, the food being just ok. Breakfast was also extremely slow. A lot of attention required for it earn 5* and I had such high expectations.

We used to use The Bedford very regularly for weekends away. Unfortunately we felt that standards slipped when there was a change of manager and the whole place just didn’t feel welcoming. Pleased to say that a new manager was appointed a while ago and customer service has improved beyond measure. Standards of room cleanliness and the general feel of the place have also improved and we will once again be visiting regularly.

Warm welcome from friendly staff. Clean and comfortable room looking over Sutton Harbour, with everything you could want. (OK it would have been nice to have catch-up on the TV...). And I think - I'm not sure - they put me in a superior room when I only paid for basic. (It was a quiet period.)

Fabulously clean and well maintained facility. I enjoyed my massage, the Aquasauna, the lounge, the walks and the cafe with it's impressively designed crazy golf course. Less so the delay at check-in through lack of staff, inactive TV sets in our room (dodgy wiring), the uncomfortably hot breakfast room and the completely inedible gluten-free sausages in the 'Brasserie' (refund awaited). Overall good but not perfect.

The hotel is in a great location, the view is excellent great food and dining experience. Hotel staff is Great and my house keeper is the best. Ms Lynne I believe I spelled it correctly was very thorough in cleaning the room and making sure everything was top notch. My stay was on the 9th floor so if you are fortunate enough you will see her and experience a room cleaned and kept up perfectly. I can't forget about the servers for breakfast, I don't have their names but I will get them and add to this review or another but they are awesome as well.
