"Recently stayed at HGI Bloomington, IN. I’ve had a child at IU beginning in 2012 (luckily just 1 at a time!) so I’ve been here a number of times, alternating between Hilton and Hyatt Place. I’m sad to see that HGI has been consistently going down. My total for 4 days=$786, including taxes but no parking or any other room charges. Cons beginning at check in: front desk staff eating (at front desk) so lobby smelled like their dinner; my room had a number of issues including both toilet paper rolls with maybe 1/6th remaining so 1st call to housekeeping to get more, toilet seat is very far off center (think about it...cold), bottom fitted sheet on inside-out, liners in wastebaskets are too big so whatever is disposed “sinks” liner and I’m not readjusting it each time so…, obvious blood stains on pillow (not pillowcase, actual end of pillow sticking out), room looks “topically” clean but corners, baseboards, and mirrors (cleaned to arms reach only) are clearly just given a pass over, male housekeeper for my floor was talking on the phone and again/still on the phone in another room when I came back approx 20 min later (reason for inside-out sheets?). It was cold while I was there and I called front desk to ask for a blanket as there was not an extra in the room (aren't there always extra pillows/blanket?). Michael (manager?) brought one up so I showed him the issues. He apologized and sent up Molly to change the sheets and replace the bloodstained pillow. Next day, Saturday, I left the room at 1pm and returned at 5:30pm. No, the do not disturb was not on my door, nor was the “green” notice, yet the room had not been touched. I again called the front desk to ask for at least clean towels for the next day. That evening, when moving the armchair for son and I to eat in the room, we found Skittles and M&M’s scattered under and behind the chair. Pros are that staff are friendly and obviously it’s convenient to visiting IU. After responding to a Hilton survey, someone reached out to ask about my experience. I emailed back with my experience, then followed up a week later after no response."
"We always checked to this hotel every time we visit my niece in Bloomington because the place is clean, staff are courteous, and they offered healthy meals. The breakfast is always good. The location is also convenient, close to dining places."
"The Hilton Garden Inn is right in the heart of downtown Kirkwood which is a great location to walk to shops, restaurants and campus. I stayed there a year ago it was ok. The parking garage is around the corner and is not very convenient. This stay there was a convention with high school kids very crowded and loud. We were given a room by the elevators so I requested a room change. We were given a worse room down the hall facing the busy 6 th street with the stop light walk sign outside our window that continuously beeped. If you are not a very deep sound sleeper don’t stay at this hotel most of the rooms face the town which is loud with traffic honking and people outside yelling and partying till all hours of the night. The rooms are dated not worth the price. I will never stay here again!"
