35 Hartlebury Road, Stourport-on-Severn, Worcestershire, United Kingdom
"We had an early morning arrival after a 24 hour journey from Sydney, after the family accommodation offered fell thru last minute. Back in Stourport for a family funeral, we managed to snag a room not long after 9.00am....which was a great help after the flight. Had a top floor room in the older part of the building (I knew this building as Mount Olympus!) so no lift, but just a couple stairs to get the luggage up. Room was unusual, with bathroom down some stairs (no door.!) but actually worked well. Lights to the room were a bit weird as only a single light switch to get downstairs (maybe some Leds going down the stairs might be an idea!). But the room was pretty well serviced, a little tired, but well prepared. Bed was lovely and comfortable, with both plug sockets and USB ports both sides of the bed (some 5 star hotels fail here!). Slept quite well. Room being at the top of the building was fairly quiet which was good. We only had a single suitcase between us, two cases in the room may have been a squeeze. F&B... Hotel has a bar and restaurant. Couple of G+Ts in front of the open fires in the front lounge keeping warm on a Pommie spring evening. Had dinner on the one night. Food OK, service again was pretty good. Breakfast had an OK spread. More fresh fruit offering could have been better (however, I'm used to Asian / APAC hotels... I do find UK hotels seem to have a small fruit offering). If the management are listening... Can you please replace the awful tinned tomatoes and replace with grilled fresh tomatoes!! Staff were helpful. Thanks to Richard for printing my speech out! If I need a hotel again when back visiting Stourport, I will use again. And certainly recommend this as a more personable hotel than a local Travelodge or Premier Inn for example."
"My family spent the night at this hotel on Monday 26th October and we booked two rooms. When we arrived there was no one on reception and so we rang the bell and waited several minutes to be greeted by a member of staff. We checked in very quickly and were given our key cards, but we was given no direction of where the rooms were and so we had to ask. We booked the hotel at late notice after seeing the photos online of the beautiful manor. However the photos are extremely misleading and the hotel/rooms we booked were very worn and in need of some desperate TLC . We actually stayed in the shabby extension off the side of the Manor in front of the carpark. The bathmat was split, the carpets were filthy and the noise from the radiators and other doors slamming kept us awake during the night so it defiantly wasn't the peaceful night we wanted before visiting the Safari Park. We used the what's app service to ask for some glasses to be brought to the room but didn't get a reply so after 45 minutes waiting i went to the reception to request them. Again no one was on reception. This is the first hotel we have stayed at where we struggled to actually find staff. We had booked our evening meal at a restaurant close by as we we knew that the bar and restaurant at the hotel was closed. However we have just seen a review below suggesting it was open for them. This seems very unfair to provide a service for one particular guest but not others. Unfortunately we didn't get our evening meal, as the restaurant we were dining at was evolved in a robbery whilst we sat waiting to order. We returned to the hotel nervous and unsettled and walked into an empty reception which made us feel uneasy that anyone could just enter the hotel as you do not require a key card to enter through the main door. Overall we are extremely disappointed with our stay and to top it all off, we then receive a parking charge. This has now been dealt with but it did give me some concerns at the time as we were unaware of any carpark restrictions at the time of checking in. I have emailed my concerns to the hotel before writing this review and they have mentioned they would provided my family with a discounted room if we was to ever return. But we would never return to this hotel after the experience we have had!! Avoid!!"
"We went as a family and needed a double and 2 family rooms and had DBB. The hotel was very accommodating about the needs of our family and staff were friendly and helpful. We had 3 nights over the half-term break and the hotel was quite busy. There was slow service in the restaurant on the Sunday, but this vastly improved on the next 2 nights. The menu remained the same for the 3 nights and it was possible to have meals a la carte which we had on the last night. The food was good and there were no complaints from any of our party. Also there was plenty of choice at breakfast time. There is a small pool in the hotel and on the first night we had to wait before others got out so that we could go in, which wasn't a problem. There is a nature reserve just over the road, which was lovely and it is very close to the West Midlands safari park, both of which we all enjoyed. The hotel has a scheme that if you do not have your room cleaned you received a voucher for a free drink. We took them up on this offer. The hard working room staff were really helpful and friendly. All in all for a reasonable priced and good value hotel I can recommend this hotel especially for those with children."
