"A rare rainy spell in Arizona meant this was not a typical visit to the Four Seasons. No lying by the pool (one of the best hotel pools in the world IMHO), no sitting out under the stars by the fire pit watching the twinkling lights down in the Valley, no sitting on the balcony of our casita watching the wildlife. But the rooms were as comfortable as always (best hotel bed!) and spotlessly clean and I’m delighted that they’ve switched back to L’Occitane bath products this year, after an experiment with some local suppliers. Unable to enjoy the pool, we had fun doing a local beer tasting at Proof, trying four different craft beers. And even though we couldn’t enjoy them outside, the prickly pear margaritas at Onyx are still the best in the world! My one criticism is that our room was never made up til at least 3pm each day, which was curious as the hotel was virtually empty. And frustrating because we were spending so much time in it! Hopefully the sun will shine next year!"
"the hotel has a beautiful territory; can be seen bunny ; hummingbirds and etc! hotel rooms are separate houses throughout the territory! the room has a mini fridge; coffee machine Nespresso and beautiful fireplace! rooms a little old but still pretty! now is only one restaurant open (breakfast lunch dinner)! The pool area is very beautiful; heated and very warm! there is a cafe by the pool where you can eat (good menu) and order drinks! The only thing that upset me a little was that we flew there to celebrate our wedding anniversary and even told them about it in advance (they asked us on the phone)! but when they arrived we were not given a compliment from the hotel (as usual, good hotels give either a bottle of champagne or just one candy or one rose at least)! it would be just nice! usual even ordinary restaurants give a dessert or a rose for a couple! who is worried about the virus - this hotel has all the standards!"
"Our recent stay at the Four Seasons in Scottsdale was exceptional...from the valet, to the front desk, to our room everything was exceptional. It was also nice that the food at the restaurant, Proof, and for room service, was well priced and delicious...the golf at Toon Pinnacle was better than world class! One of the most beautiful places I have stayed in the world."

"We did a 10 night Covid-relief vacation in Scottsdale - hoping to find 2 resorts for 5 nights each where there would be enough amenities open but we would be able to practice social-distancing. We started at the Canyon Suites at the Phoenician (another great resort) and decided to take a drive (20 minutes) north to check out the Boulders since we had a 24 hr cancellation at both the Boulders and the Hyatt Regency at Gainey Ranch (we walked around and did not like it at all). We were pretty impressed. It's not hard to be. The place is so unusual and gorgeous! When we arrived, we were pleasantly surprised to find out that we had been upgraded to a 4 BR Hacienda on the Nature Trail - when we had booked a 2 BR. All I can say is wow! My husband and I were traveling with my mother - so the place was a bit large (yeah!) - it was unbelievably decorated and the outdoor area was just phenomenal. This place could have been featured in Architectural Digest. There were multiple water fountains and an outdoor chandelier! It was #502 if you want to try to book it. We were told it is the BEST hacienda there. We went to the lodge pool everyday. Weekdays were good because it wasn't very crowded. But on the weekend people were hanging out waiting for others to leave. We were there by 8:30 every day and left before noon which was perfect. The pool is literally right up against the boulders - and there is a waterfall that they turn on and off. One day we saw people had climbed up to the top - which you are not allowed to do. They thought they were cool. Most of the people at the pool were talking about how stupid it was. The pool attendant arranged the chairs every morning so that they were spaced out. There is also a pool at the golf club - but no service there and we were told no view. If you are in a hacienda, there is one more pool to use. It was small and had a big wall around it. The drinks at the pool were very good. Expensive - but that was expected. We would order food for takeout from the pool and then eat on our patio. There is a grocery store super close (Safeway) so you can stock up your frig. We also cooked out some to limit Covid possibilities. We ate at the golf course - not impressed. It needs a bit of updating. Breakfast there was good. They pick you up in golfcarts to take you around the place. They were super prompt. On the weekend they were also using a shuttle, which we weren't too keen on because we were right up against other people. We only did that once. We went to the Spotted Donkey on site. Not bad. Not great but good to be out at restaurants some. Definitely do the Sonoran Adventure with Brandy. Her flyer is in the lodge. This place was fantastic. Highly recommend. We didn't want to leave."
"Spotted Donkey was the best Cantina I have been to in the Phoenix area. Its North East, just outside of Metro Phoenix. Mia is a great hostess, very sweet and good conversationalist. Marissa is a great server. Made sure I was well taken care of also very sweet. There was another male server there who also happens to be a teacher, like myself, who shared some great innovative ideas to engage students that I may consider bringing to my school. Very friendly group of people. Definitely a place I would go to again."
"Ate dinner there last night and had wonderful food - roast chicken and filet. Everything cooked perfectly. Service was attentive and helpful with descriptions of menu items. Our server, Chase G. was particularly good and managed to coordinate all of our dishes with one hand in a cast. He was assisted by Ivan C. who was our desert-meister. Also very knowledgeable about the dishes and preparation."

"We had a wonderful stay at the Fairmont. All the extra safe measures the hotel takes during this strange time are very much appreciated. The entire staff was exceptionally friendly and courteous. Top notch service! Gus Gallett went above and beyond to make our stay extra special. After there was a silly mix up with our reservation. Gus went out of his way to make sure we got the room & view we had originally booked. He even surprised us with pina coladas while they verified that our room was all ready. The hotel is beautiful and the resort grounds are lovely. There are palm trees, pathways and unique cactus. The pools are beautiful, clean and huge. We loved the white sand beach at the sunset beach pool. We felt like we were on a tropical getaway. Our room was clean, modern and spacious. It had a nice desk area, couch, table and giant bathroom. The bed was very comfortable and luxurious. We had a nice balcony which looked over the gorgeous sunset beach pool and beach. The spa is so serene and beautiful. The extra spa amenities are delightful. My favorite was the outdoor grotto with the five massage waterfalls. What a luxurious treat. Our massage therapists Gretchen and David were friendly and professional. They both made us feel safe and relaxed, and we appreciated that they constantly checked in on our comfort level during our massages. A big round of applause to the hotel’s GM and staff for putting on pumpkin nights. What a spectacular and fun event. Pumpkin nights was such an amazing treat, and the photos we took are priceless. It was so fun seeing families and kids being safe and still having fun. Gus mentioned they do a spectacular holiday light display. We really hope to come back to this amazing resort to see the holiday display. "
"We stayed in a pool view suite in the newer portion of the property. It was during their Fall festival celebration and that is a big deal...lots of stuff to see and do. And you get free admission ! Absolutely gorgeous grounds. Clean. The 5-star rating is certainly directed to the staff. There is A LOT going on with this festival and it was hectic. But the hotel staff was over-the-top on their service...friendly and responsive. Front desk staff...awesome. But here is where they get 5-strar: We bought some “refreshments” from off property and it is a decent walk to the room from the parking lot. When I parked (they reserved an area for guest parking away from the parking for visitors ti the festival), one of the parking staff grabbed a golf cart and helped me get to the room. THAT is service! This was our first visit to Scottsdale. But it won’t be our last...and this property is worth coming back. "
"This sprawling complex feels Luxurious and Ultra resort friendly. Everywhere you go, the Staff greets you with courtesy as if you’re the only guest at the property. Multiple pools for both kids/families/and just for adults. Golf courses are nationally ranked and The Phoenix Open is played on the TPC Stadium course each year. One thing worth noting, there are multiple places to relax on comfy chairs with fire pits and spectacular fire features frame the pools at night and the bars. There are large outdoor fireplaces to sit and just listen to the crackling wood. Why go off to bed when you can just sit outside by a fireplace well into the night? IMMACULATE PROPERTY!!! I never saw a piece of trash! Plus, this property is so well located near everything. You can park your car rental for free and head off property in a jiffy. I’m telling you ....come here and enjoy this terrific Fairmont Property. "

"Came here with my family for a second time in the last couple of years because we just love this hotel so much. We had been on a road trip for the previous week staying at Marriott Bonvoy hotels along the way and they had all been awesome with following strict Covid guidelines. The Kierland was to be our last hotel stay before heading back home and was supposed to be a fun surprise for our kids. When we checked in, as normal we saw signs and protocols were being followed with the lobby, valet and housekeeping staff. However we saw several guests around the lobby area (inside) that couldn’t be bothered to wear masks. Also some of these people were even joining elevator rides with people outside their own parties with no regard to the rules to separate families and strangers in the elevators. Then upon entering the outdoor family pool area you would have never guessed we were in the middle of a pandemic. There were provision signs and socially distanced chairs that were all set up (Great!). However masks were not required while swimming and lounging (understandable). But the real problem was that several large groups (way more than the 10 person limit rule) were partying and gathering everywhere. The pool was well over capacity, there were no rules on social distancing in the lazy river and the water slides. The worst was the Flow Rider pool staff that were not only not wearing masks but they were also yelling rules up close at all the kids including ours! So many of the pool staff were not wearing or just improperly wearing their masks. When we inquired about it at the pool check in they said it was just a busy Saturday and there wasn’t much they could do about it. The whole scene was unnerving and a real disappointment. Unfortunately for our family we felt safer to cut our trip short there and head to another hotel that was much better about following CDC guidelines and that made us feel more at ease. "
"I am taking a statistics class and ordered a very expensive textbook. I travelled to the Westin over spring break with my brand new textbook and worked on my class while there. We try to stay at the Westin Kierlands (or other Bonvoy property) every year for spring break. I left the book in the room when we checked out on the 14th. I called lost and found, spoke with Guy Kenfack and he spent the last 10 days trying to locate the book. He found it (!) and has already overnighted it to me. The Westin Kierlands is not the cheapest hotel, especially over spring break, but with service like this, and specifically thanks to Guy Kenfack, we'll be back year after year. Thanks Guy! And, please stay safe during these crazy times."
"Great location!! Beautiful grounds, easy walk to golf course and practice area. Easy walk to fantastic kierland shopping and wonderful restaurants. Nice areas in lobby to relax, fun snakes to see. Very friendly valet and staff. Bagpipes at 6 every night. Nice big area in the back overlooking golf course for drinks or for kids to run around. Nice outdoor fireplaces. Breakfast was great and beautiful location- we ordered off menu so can’t speak out the buffet. Very helpful when we needed late checkout for cancelled Southwest flight. A few snags were 3 electrical outlets redone to code and had to call maintainable to fix. Refrigerator not working in one of our rooms. Safe not working in one room-maintenance responded promptly but didn’t fix until second call. Pool hot tub coping needs replacing. Lazy river is fun, ping pong and basketball are fun. Pool design is old fashioned but easily enjoyed by kids. Concierge friendly but maybe didn’t get the best information from them. "

"This was our first stay at the villas and we were here 8 nights. We are not owners, we just booked the large villa suite as if it were a regular hotel reservation. We truly loved our stay, but I had a few disappointments because their website was not current – even the Covid-specific website info. Check-in was a breeze and all staff throughout our stay were very friendly. Some were just better at their jobs than others. At check-in, we were told we could schedule our ONE housekeeping visit. We set it up and it was done at the time determined. I was really disappointed with only one housekeeping visit because the website indicated housekeeping was in effect. It did not indicate limits and this was not okay for my vacation. I truly would not have gone here had I known this because I know what perks I like on vacation. You could get clean towels, room supplies, etc any time you asked, but that involved planning or waiting. Upon arrival at our room, we found a dirty washcloth on our welcome mat. We kicked it aside and eventually it was picked up. Between the housekeeping info and this, our first 30 minutes on the property did not start out well at all. The villa was in excellent condition and well maintained. The appliances seemed brand new. Carpeting looked new. We did not like the bedding or towels – both were “rough”, though the towels were a nice size. The bed was comfortable to us (firm). The property is also very well kept. There are some areas with beautiful landscaping and other areas that were forgotten about. For example, at the pool, there are some large planters. Some were full of flowers and others had a tiny flower in the middle or even weeds in some areas. They keep the walkways clear all day with someone using a battery-powered leaf blower (much quieter than a gas one!) They power-washed the pool areas each morning too. We spent several days at the Relaxation pool which truly was very quiet and relaxing. The property was at full capacity and the only crowded day at the pools was Saturday which I expect is because no one can use the hotel’s pools that day. Other than Saturday, we could find chairs in the sun. There are plenty of umbrellas. I loved that they gave you large glasses of ice water all day long – well, one gentleman came around often whose name I can’t remember (shame on me – but he was older than some of the other pool attendants and he was from Mexico). The younger pool attendants were not as diligent with the water. The pool attendant cleaned each lounge chair after someone left and my compliments to the owners who all seem to remove their towels from the chairs when they were leaving. Never saw that much at most resorts, but this was my first time at a time share, so maybe that helped. We did not spend any time at the Recreation pool, but our room looked over it. It really looked fun for kids and teens. It was packed also on Saturday, but not busy any other day when I assume f"
"We have visited this property many times, sent friends there on trips, and also loved. This time was average at best. Started with calling the hotel to be advised of the airport shuttle they recommend. Although it is not the fault of the hotel that our shuttle no-showed, but when I called the front desk to assist us the young lady stated that’s not our service so I really can’t help and truly did not offer any help. Okay, arrived at the hotel and moved on. Thursday evening we dined on the patio at the main hotel our waitress was unfriendly and seemed annoyed we were there. The manager came to our table and helped us with our drink order and continued to come by and see if we needed anything. She was great! Friday, I called and asked for extra coffee and detergent never received. Called again Saturday, did not receive until late afternoon. Really enjoyed the villa adult pool staff. Super nice and helpful. Spa was amazing although they crossed up credit cards and charged me for all of my friend’s services. We handled not a big deal. Monday morning I called and asked for an 11am check out. It was confirmed at 10 we receive a call asking us to be out of the rooms or consolidate into 1. I continued with I had spoken with a woman at 8am and confirmed our 11am check out. The young man proceeded to tell me there is no woman at the front desk and that couldn’t have happened. This is where the conversation turned. I told him I was an owner and would not argue with him about what I knew had happened. I asked to speak to his manager. Derek asked me to confirm who I spoke with. When you call and ask for a late check out do you ask who am I speaking with? I did not. I did however call from my cell phone and could give him the exact time and number. I also conveyed I had two friends that HAD been interested in purchasing with Vistana. He asked for me to meet him at the front desk. When I arrived in the lobby I found he and another young woman talking about me and how they didn’t understand what the issue was...he didn’t know who I was so I listened for a bit, slid my keys under the plexiglass and told him the issue was their customer service. He asked how to make it right, I told him that was another problem, I shouldn’t have to tell him how to make it right. He never offered any type of assistance or help, nor did he care to meet my friends and guide them with possible Vistana ownership information. A simple gesture of can we buy you a drink before you leave would have gone a long way. Or even throw some point my way, but nothing. I realize Covid makes everything different and stress, but the front desk staff at this property is unhelpful and rude. Not a good look. I missed the bagpiper too!"
"My wife and I planned this trip over a year ago. We reserved three weeks, which is our longest stay here. With covid going on, we were not sure until a few days before we left that we were actually going to make the trip. We usually fly but are not confident with the safety of airports and airlines right now so we decided to drive (1662 miles each way.) Several of the amenities are still closed (including our favorite- the hot tub) but we understand with the current situation. The staff has been diligent with cleanliness and sanitizing at every turn. There are as many hand sanitizing stations as in most medical facilities. Kudos to Mr. Scott Caldwell and the staff for their diligence! The guests have been good about wearing masks and practicing social distancing. It is important because no matter what the rules are, if people don't follow them-they are meaningless. We love this resort and we don't mind a few inconveniences when public health is the key. To us, part of the charm of this resort are the gas grills and the full kitchens. We love to prepare meals together and dine on the beautiful patio in the room. We had our first of two scheduled housekeepings today and the housekeeper did a very thorough job Staff is most responsive if you request more soap, towels, or other incidentals."

"Appropriately located in Carefree, AZ (outside of Phoenix), I was completely carefree with the extraordinary staff tending to every detail and every need I had. Creating an environment that had enough happening to keep me engaged yet not racing to get to the next class (ironically to relax) was achieved. This is a home-run balance missed by most spas. Kudos to Civana. The décor, vibe, and efficiency of the spa facility was extraordinary. The water circuit with hot tubs and cold plunges was exhilarating. The massage therapist, Jane returned the next day (ON HER DAY OFF) to finish working out my back issue. That level of dedication is so above and beyond any customer service experience I have ever received. Anywhere. The humanBeing class (in contradistinction to humanDoing) presented by Amanda gently invited us to examine how we race through life to our own detriment. It was super powerful; we confronted our resistance to change the thousands of micro decisions made daily. The morning off-site hikes were gorgeous, and the leaders were not only knowledgeable about plants and animals, they were able to teach ways to bring some of the inspiration one can get in nature back home with us. The meals at their restaurant, Terras, were as creative as they were abundant and their all-day café, Seed, was so good I even brought one last breakfast burrito for the plane home! I was there during Covid-19 and the measures the entire staff took to keep everything sanitized were exceptional. "
"My husband and I stayed at the Civana Resort for 5 nights. The resort is gorgeous and the staff top notch. Our second-floor room was spacious, well appointed, and had a view of the mountains looking northwest. The room layout was unique with the bed in the middle of the larger area looking out the sliding glass door to the balcony to the view. Brilliant. The grounds are spectacular from the landscaping to the labyrinth to the paths. At check in, guests are gifted a metal water bottle and water stations are located throughout the resort. The classes offered daily were vast and excellent. We took advantage of the fitness classes (meditation, stretch, yoga), the guided hikes (Sears-Kay Ruins, Desert Plants) and the culinary classes taught by chefs (Justin, Michele, Alfred). The kitchen collects the scrapes from vegetable preparations and makes their own vegetable broth for use in dressings and other dishes. And the broccamole. Genius, repurposing-minded and calorie-conscious. After our first culinary clinic with the Executive Chef Justin Macy, we were enamored with the restaurant and cafe. We enjoyed five meals at Terras and one at Cafe Meto. All were outstanding. (I am disappointed Terras and Cafe Meto do not have separate claimed TripAdvisor listings. I would like to post a review of both and share photos of their amazing creations.) We did not know what a wellness resort was before our visit, but Civana nailed it!"
"At a spa resort as beautiful and complete as Civana, it is so refreshing to not be constricted to a specific menu or program. Here you can choose your meals from some great options (only one restaurant and one cafe, but the food at both is terrific), an unexpected amazing Happy Hour deal is such a nice touch. The fitness classes are taught by very talented instructors with a wide variety of formats, cooking classes, wine tastings, art/craft making, and meditation classes are also offered- sadly not everything will be available every day, but if you stay for a few days you will likely get a good taste of all the offerings. Oh! And great hikes! These are educational but also envigorating without being too challenging. The spa space is beautiful and the rooms are perfect. Not fussy or overdone, this place is modern and super comfortable."

"Not the most attractive of the Marriott Vacation Club properties on the exterior, but our one bedroom unit was very pleasant and typical of the expected quality of MVC. The main pool was too crowded for us to consider using and the small restaurant had long lines with little social distancing. We enjoyed lounging at the children's pool (The LIzard Lagoon) instead, where we we often the only guests. The staff always wore masks and social distancing protocols seemed to be observed. They staff was great about replenishing our supplies and left them at the door in cute Marriott bags. Given the COVID situation, there was not much to do in the area, as we are not golfers. The resort is quite far north of the city, but in better times there would be lots of restaurants to try nearby and it is also very close to the Musical Instrument Museum, which would be fun to visit. My only complaints were about the uncomfortable pillows and the danged electric stove--I hate cooking with electric!"
"We stayed here for our family's spring break and were blown away by this incredible resort that had SO MUCH to offer our family. Our 2 bedroom villa was absolutely beautiful and super clean. Everything seemed to be brand new!! We had so much space and loved everything about our villa accommodations. We absolutely LOVED the resort - from the awesome basketball court, pickle ball court, turf soccer field, corn hole, ping pong, Foosball tables, shuffleboard, sand volleyball, and amazing fire pits - there was so much to do and it was so safe!!! The pools were so beautiful and clean - there was so much space around the pools and we never had problems finding lounge chairs together. The staff worked hard everyday to keep the resort clean and the landscaping was truly gorgeous! The activities staff was fantastic and my kids loved all the fun and creative programs. I highly recommend this to any family - it was one of our favorite resorts ever!"
"I visited in October 2020 and stayed in a 1 bedroom villa. The property looks plain from the outside, but the rooms are in great shape and surprised me when entering the villa. The kitchen was large, with new appliances (dishwasher, washer/dryer, full size refrigerator). The bed was comfortable and then there was a large bath tub that easily fits a couple in addition to a separate bathroom with shower and toilet. We used the main pool during our stay and found the facilities to be in great shape. I grew up in Arizona and always stayed closer to my family in Mesa when visiting, but I’ll be staying in Desert Ridge in the future because of Marriott’s Canyon Villas. "

"I stayed at this property because of the location. I don't go into hotel experiences looking for issues and while I did have several during my stay, they were small and with just a little attention to detail this property could get a stellar review. Pre check in allowed me to select my room (I chose a ground floor room). An email sent prior to arrival with my digital key (nice concept if it worked) reveled my room would be on the second floor (not a huge deal). Arrival allowed me to access doors/my room with my digital key on my phone but required 3 attempts every time. Went to the front desk to ask (Tony I believe) for a key card. He acknowledge my request, verified my room number and issued key card all without saying a single word (maybe on a Tuesday night he had nothing to say). This would have been a great time to tell me that the morning breakfast they advertised online and mentioned in my confirmation email would not be served (I assumed this would not be offered due to COVID and had made backup arrangements). Room is a nice size, bed comfortable, bathroom has a large counter, shelf the length of the counter which I loved and a nice shower. Washer and dryer facilities on site and a small area to purchase beverages and snacks. Now the not so great...air conditioner had a “ting - ting - ting - ting” each time it turned on and off, stains on the carpet, large water stain on bedside lamp shade and several scuff marks on the wall (again minor but noticeable things. The ice maker on my floor never worked my entire stay but the first floor one did so I was able to at least get ice. A Grab and Go convenience store is next door and several nice coffee shops super close. Overall the hotel was clean but really needs some attention to details. The pool was shaded most of the time but was warm and offered a small area of sun during the day (some people would love the shade). The pool itself seems to need some attention - had either a large area of dirt or peeled paint on the bottom of it. The pool furniture is in need of replacing due to the plastic weaving torn in several places, rips in the cushions and faded. They offer a grill by the pool but it is stuck in an overgrown shrub area and does not appear to work. Pool towels were available by the hot tub (4 towels). Lobby area appears clean and the breakfast area looks very nice with several tables and a large island with several chairs but the area was not used. The older lady with blonde hair was pleasant when I purchased my beverage from the little store area the hotel offers. The other staff members said hello only after I started the conversation. I called the front desk to extend my check out by 1 hour and the staff member was less than pleasant, sighed as if it was a huge inconvenience but did allow the request. Housekeeping comes only if requested and did bring my additional towels after day 2 (it took an hour and a half but I was not in a rush). Outside front area could use some attention as"
