"What a delight Darcys is! My wife exclaimed when she pulled up, "Oh, what a lovely old house! Is our hotel in this street?" "It *is* our hotel," I replied. The house and grounds are beautiful, perfectly maintained, spick and span. Plenty of off-site parking. The public areas are comfortable, airy, well-furnished, and evocative of the glory days of this suburb, back about a century or so. The bedrooms are large, furnished with modern pieces faithful to the old style, and well supplied with power points and amenities. Checkin is a little quaint. Sit down in the lounge, ring Kevin's number (as noted on the front door) and he will come down from his office and attend to you, helped by a lovely old rolltop desk. This is definitely not your cookie-cutter motel, designed by accountants and identical all over the world. This is gorgeous. Breakfast is continental, serve yourself, and perfectly adequate. I especially noted the real coffee provided via plunger. We were given directions to nearby Strathfield, a short walk through tree-lined streets. Most of the restaurants were Korean, so perhaps not to everybody's taste, but we found a place that served delicious (and spicey) bimbap and yukgaejang for a very good price. Speaking of a very good price, our hotel tariff was a bargain for a stay in Sydney. Well worthwhile for a few days in Sydney. Leave the car here and take the train in. You'll save a bundle over anything remotely comparable in the central area. My first, but definitely not last, stay here. This diamond sparkles!"
"We recently had the pleasure of spending a night at Darcy's, a hotel we chose because of its location and the high review ratings it had received on Trip Advisor. I'm pleased to say that we were not disappointed in any way. The building itself is beautiful, dating back to the early 1800's but very well maintained and decorated with period furnishings. It is blissfully quiet and the rooms enormous. Kevin was very informative and looked after us very well, including with the continental breakfast which was included in the room rate. It is also a very short (5 min) walk to the local shopping / dining precinct where we had a splendid meal at Urbano. Darcy's is quite unique in this day and age and we'll certainly be visiting again."
"It’s been a couple of years between stays this time but happy to report Kevin is still running a fine establishment. Clean, quiet and functional, every assistance readily and cheerily given and I very much appreciated the upgrade to ènsuite room. Highly recommend. Until next time then! Evelyn"
