"My partner and I stayed at the blazing donkey on the 13th March. We were interested in hiring the venue for a wedding and thought would book in for an evening stay. When we arrived it was a little later than planned but were pleasantly greeted. The staff were beyond polite and helpful and we soon felt at home. The vibe this country house gave was so welcoming and warm, it felt like we were regulars to the place. We were given our keys and headed to the converted barns where our room was for the night. The room itself was immaculately presented and well planned out. Again a nice homely feel to the room. It had been decorated to a high standard and is something you would expect from a boutique hotel. Once we had freshened up we headed back to the main area for our dinner. We were placed at a table with being surrounded by only 8 so straight away we felt the venue was more intimate and more effort was made for each visitor. The food we ordered was delicious, hats off to the chef. Each bite of food was full of flavour and the meat was tender. You could tell this was freshly sourced. The wine list was extensive and had a great guide at the moment to the flavour of each bottle. We also had the resident singer when we visited which again gave such a lovely feel to the place. After our three courses we were in a it of a food coma. We headed off, already excited for what breakfast could bring. Since we arrived when it was dark we were really able to see the view and natural beauty of the surrounding areas once we had woken. When we had entered back in the restaurant area, we were soon offered teas coffee or soft drinks for breakfast. We both ordered the full english and it didn't disappoint. Again everything was well seasoned and tasted very fresh. I wish I had enough space to eat it again. We then had our meeting to discuss hiring the venue. We were so relaxed with the whole atmosphere that we did end up booking the venue. We are so excited to be inviting our guests here to enjoy their time with The Blazing Donkey team and we highly recommend this place to anyone. It is very good value for money. We are looking forward to visiting everyone again very soon!!"
"We stayed at The Blazing Donkey Country Hotel this last weekend & must say it far exceeded our expectations on every front. All of the team were Very friendly and helpful from the moment we arrived and couldn’t do enough to make sure that our stay was lovely. Our rooms were immaculate and the food was really delicious -we had a scrummy 3 course dinner and fab selection For breakfast- again super quality ingredients and cooked to perfection. It also lets you bring your dog along - which you would never be aware of as our rooms had no leftover residue what so ever from previous pets. Also the venue has excellent parking facilities and it is in a nice quiet location. Really Excellent value for money!! And we would all love to come back for another stay at The Blazing Donkey....so well done to you all Thank You"
"Having had our holiday to the Dominican Republic cancelled, I phoned this hotel and booked directly for several nights. On arrival on Monday we were given the honeymoon suite , it is a hotel that offers a lovely setting for weddings. The staff were so helpful and friendly. The restaurant offers a high standard of locally produced ingredients and impeccably presented. The breakfast menu was equally impressive. We visited several local towns, but a car is required. To return to the bar and sit by an open fire with and gin and tonic , made up for not sitting in the Dominican Republic .Thankyou to the staff at the Blazing donkey hotel for raising our spirits . We will recommend your hotel And hope to return ourselves."

Dover Waterfront, Waterloo Crescent, Dover, Kent, United Kingdom
"Booked a family room, very spacious, with a double bed and a single bed. Facing the sea, the landscape is good, there are not many tourists, suitable for leisure and holiday. Seafood dinner at a nearby restaurant is great value."
"Breakfast is average, it is a standard English breakfast. If the single point is not expensive, about 10 pounds. Hotel location is good, very close to Dover Castle. There are also ferries that can go directly to France."
"Breakfast didn't eat, but the room environment was good. You can see the sea. We set the bed. The only bad thing is that the bed in the big bed is made up of two double beds. It is very uncomfortable."

"Stayed 1 night in standard double room. Dual aspect 2nd floor. Wonky floors are original and quirky.Bathroom, to be honest, was a bit shabby and needed some mastic on skirtings and the shower mainly poured on to the floor causing the skirtings to split. I appreciate it’s an old building but it wouldn’t cost much to sort out. Looked like it had new carpet and new linen curtains which were nice, too. Also looked like it had been repainted. Coffee machine was good. WiFi should be sorted. I don’t want to open an account giving loads of details, I just want to access WiFi: most hotels give you a password to log on, that’s what I want.In the end I used my 4G. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. For breakfast (we had to book a time) which was fine and was very Covid safe. Breakfast itself was fantastic. Hot and tasty. Staff went above and beyond. Would definitely stay again."
"We were here using Shepherd Neame winter offer, when we arrived we were upgraded to a superior room which was was lovely, large, clean, fabulous views. After a brisk seafront walk, went down for dinner, really good, our only complaint was the size (huge) but we did our best! The bed was extremely comfortable and it was a joy to wake up to the sea view. Breakfast was very nice and so much choice. My final comment would be that the staff were charming, helpful and a credit to Shepherd Neame. We will absolutely be returning as soon as possible."
"Just visited Deal for the first time as a family of 6 - 2 adults and 4 children and stopped by for a Sunday Lunch. The service was appalling! To start we were told we couldn’t order kids roast dinner or swap new potatoes for extra roast potatoes. This was then corrected and we were told by another waitress they did do kids roasts (although no price was given for the kids portion) we wrongly assumed it was be the same price as a kids meal advertised however it was considerably more. When we asked if we could have a Yorkshire puddings with a roast pork we were told it would be a charge of £1.50 which is ridiculous on a £14 roast dinner! The food overall was nice however the potions were all small at £15 for beef and £14 for pork and £7.95 for a tiny kids portion. The staff were cold, they didn’t understand their own menu and we were never asked if our meal was ok or if we wanted any sauces. Service goes a long way and we could have forgiven the portion sizes had we felt more welcomed and been given a little but more attention. Over all hugely disappointed and expected more for a nearly £90 Sunday dinner!! "

"We've just returned from a mid week break which we thoroughly enjoyed. Our room at the top (no lift and arthritic knees so we had to plan our trips upstairs well ahead!) was spacious, clean and very well appointed. There was a charming view of ancient roof tops and the most comfortable bed ever! The staff throughout the hotel are friendly and helpful and we loved the readily available flasks of fresh milk to take up to the room. Breakfast was delicious and the only gripe we would have was the noise from next door (we were in room 41) - the TV is attached to the adjoining wall and we could hear every word, especially at 6.00 am! Sandwich is delightful and we had such a lovely time - even when it rained non stop one day we were able to sit by the fire and read. Lovely!"
"Stayed for Valentine’s night on a special deal that included 3 course meal and breakfast. Had a drink in the bar, followed by lovely food. The room was fine, quite small but clean and fresh. The breakfast was fab too. There were a lot of tankers moving all night but that was due to sewage pipe issues a mile away and was no fault of the hotel. This also meant many of the spaces in the pay and display car park were taken up with the tankers. Looking forward to next year....."
"Had drinks and bar food here today with our dog. We ate in the bar, but there is also a more formal restaurant. Very friendly staff, courteous service. Freshly made sandwiches on sourdough bread, eggs, ham and chips served very hot and fresh. Bowls of water for the dog outside. Very nice traditional atmosphere, relaxed. Decor is seaside theme, and a nice view across the Quay. A mixture of dog owners with their pets, and young couples with babies."

"Stayed here last night. We rang them prior to our stay to see if we could check in early as we were attending a wedding nearby. No problem, and we were warmly welcomed by the landlady's lovely daughter on arrival. Our double en-suite room was clean, had tea/coffee making facilities, toiletries, TV and everything else we needed. We met the landlady, Mary when we came back in the evening who was also very friendly. In the morning we met two more members of staff who served us a great breakfast. All the staff here are lovely, welcoming and obliging. Would definitely recommend staying here."
"I had arranged a Birthday Buffet for my husbands birthday - I discussed food, drink and Mary gave me helpful advice....the result was amazing food, good price and great ambience you couldnt want more; staff friendly and helpful; I really couldnt have asked or wanted more. Highly recommended"
"We popped into this pub by chance, and so glad we did. Staff very friendly , food was nice , had an outside courtyard and a hidden gem was an outhouse that had pool table, darts boards, giant connect 4 and duke box and had the place to ourselves all evening in there ."

"We only stopped here for 1 night but had a very nice time. Would have liked to stay in the Collard room with the copper bath but alas it was booked so we stayed in the Everden room - very nicely decorated and i really liked the roll top bath but was a tad nervous using the shower in case i ended up spraying the soft furnishings by mistake! Didn't eat in the restaurant for dinner but breakfast the next morning was very nice. I would recommend moving the picture above the bed up a bit as only had quite a narrow headboard and ended up knocking the picture when sitting up in bed! In addition a bit of screening or something would be nice on the terrace to make it a bit more private."
"What a beautiful place the decor is very complimentary on dealing with such a beautiful old building! Since we walked in to stay we have had nothing but good service and a friendly team! The pub deserves a high rating great food, gin, wine and definitely service with a smile! If people read trip advisor reports and decide not go somewhere because of one bad comment wait till you meet the people that leave the bad reports all I have to say they could ruin a whole restaurants evening on there own comments noise and rudeness for everyone that has to listen to them! Thank you team for a great stay and great evening "
"Came here for my birthday today. My husband booked here online and stated it was my birthday, there was zero acknowledgement of this but that aside my 14 year old son had an adults potion of Sunday dinner and raided the cupboards when we got home £17 for 1 slice of beef, 1 yorkshire pudding, a quater slice of carrot, quater slice of parsnip and 3 very small potatoes. My daughter had the childs portion because there is no childs menu on a Sunday it was £8 she couldn’t eat the beef my husband ate it. My mum had the pork which was a decent sized meal but for £15 I would expect it to be. I had the vegetable curry which was very nice. I feel that its very pretentious pricing such a shame as we would never return, would be different if you received a hearty Sunday lunch. Also 1 bowl of cabbage (small bowl) between 4 seemed very mean and 2 tiny jugs of gravy between 4 Sunday roasts just seemed unbelievable. So a disappointing, hugely expensive birthday Lunch."

"We've visited Dunkerley's for years to visit family, and the food is outstanding everytime but the hotel stands out even without the restaurant - it's quaint and homey, it feels like a home from home with staff making you feel cared for and should there ever be a slight issue, someone is always available to help both quickly and without intrusion. The owner is a character always ready to make you feel welcome, Dan runs things in a professional manner while also wearing a smile and being down to earth. We always dealt with Holly before now and she would be there for a chat and send us on our way with well wishes, but Cressida in her place is equally pleasant, all staff give the air of having time free for you while managing to run things efficiently and (what seems to us) with ease! We look forward to many stays to come!"
"I like this quirky hotel/restaurant. Right on the sea front and as expected many rooms have sea views. I appreciated the warm room on arrival. I had the same room as before although this time loud thumping music continued until at least 11.30 pm. The bedding and bed were extremely comfortable and the room was large enough for me to spread myself out. Breakfast was made to order and quite delicious. I would have preferred the fresh fruit to have been prepared in a bowl as what was on offer was a bit old. Service was good considering they were busy. They even carried my luggage up the steep staircase to the room. The hotel is quite large and may even be two buildings joined together. Many corridors. All higgledy piggledy. I tried to work out the original lay out of the building. There was what looked like a huge original fire place in the restaurant. I would definitely stay again."
"I stayed at Dunkerleys with my wife 15th Feburary and I must say we had a fantastic weekend away. Right by the sea, weather not so nice but what a view of storm Dennis from our bedroom window. The staff were wonderful, food was equally wonderful and we will be back in the future. Thanks Dunkerleys!"

"Good bed and breakfast right in the heart of sandwich, nice and clean have stayed here a couple of times and always been pleased with it and I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for homely feel,"
"I have been booking several rooms twice a year at the Fleur de Lis for about 4 years now, initially with the previous managers and for the last 3 since Richard took over. It's an ancient building and the room shapes and sizes are bizarre but that's what you get. In room 3 in particular it is extremely difficult to use the toilet because the shower cubicle is VERY close. Part of the charm, I suppose. This year I booked 3 rooms for family for 2 nights. By far the worst experience yet. 1) On arrival the booking system seemed to be chaotic and the very young staff couldn't find my details. Eventually that was sorted. 2) We discovered that there was to be live music that night, directly under the bedrooms. We should have been warned. In truth, this situation hadn't occurred before, either because there wasn't music before or because we came on different nights. The music finished at about 11.10 but the street noise went on much longer. The room was clean and everything seemed to work. The sewage smell that others have complained about wasn't noticeable to my nose. Running the sink hot tap for an age gave warm water. Running the shower was not that good. The breakfasts have gone way downhill. In an age where coffee is now a religion it was shocking to find individual portions of instant coffee and a hot water urn. For tea drinkers there were teabags but no teapots. The menu looked good but the reality was worse. The Full English breakfast was comprehensive but if you didn't want every item then you got, in effect, the Full English with everything else removed. In my case I just wanted beans on toast and I got a small scoop of beans on a slice of toast, with an extra slice of toast. Others in my party had similarly empty plates. Everything generated plastic waste, butter, jam, drinks. No effort at all. Worst of all, it took 40 minutes to arrive. Others that came in after us were served before us. Last of all, I was charged £75 when I booked direct. I should have booked on this website and got the same rooms for £65. Any comments Richard?"
"Four of us went for Sunday lunch. Yes, the lunch was good value but the service was awful, not just for us but several other tables threatening to leave if they weren't attended to soon. We ordered our desserts along with the main and sat waiting for over an hour after we had finished the main. No one cleared the tables, any tables even though the waitresses were serving orders and returning with empty hands. Couldn't they have taken some of the dirty plates and glasses with them? It seems like common sense. I have to say being left with all the dirty crocks and glasses filling the table spoilt the experience and then one of the desserts was wrong!"
