"We booked a 3 night stay at Northcote Manor from 25 Oct and stayed in the Wisteria Suite (a total surprise to me from my Husband). This was our first visit and will definitely not be our last ... if you want escapism, total relaxation and to destress and unwind, then this is the place for you. Our suite was absolutely gorgeous with the most breathtaking views from our first floor room overlooking the fields. We had a large bed, leather sofa, desk, Flat Screen TV and a coffee table along with beautiful drape curtains ... it was so oldy world, just what you would expect from a Manor House. The bathroom was immaculate and had a large white bath, walk in shower (with pumped fed system) so water pressure was fab! We requested white fluffy bathrobes which were lovely and the bathroom was stocked with white fluffy large towels. Nothing was ever too much trouble, we wanted more feather pillows, no problem, within 2 minutes a knock at the door! Anything you require is just literally a phone call away and if the staff can accommodate, then they will deliver. We fell in love with this place within seconds of being there. The place has a wonderful ambience and nothing is too much trouble. Simon, the Manager at Northcote is great and just so polite with a great sense of humour added into the mix. You can tell he is a great Manager, just by the pleasantness of his staff and their politeness, everyone seemed to get on and there was lots of laughter which was lovely amongst the staff. We felt totally safe with regards to COVID and again, Simon and his team have done a sterling job at achieving this. A thank you also to Chris, a younger member of the dining team who demonstrated the most impeccable manners and politeness at dinner. Something that I have found is rare at hotel establishments with the younger generation, so this is why Northcote is a cut above the rest! As Northcote is far away from the road (we timed it from turning into the hotel drive from the road to entering the Manor House itself... took just over two minutes drive), you really are away from it all! We heard no-one except the lovely dining staff delivering our breakfast each morning to our room. Just make sure you enter the postcode in your satnav that the hotel provide with your booking and you will find Northcote straight away! The food was just exquisite ... we have dined at many restaurants with Michelin starred chefs, but this food was in another stratosphere ... absolutely delicious! For an additional supplement I believe you can have additional courses with an accompanying wine flight, but we were very happy with our four courses, although probably more than four courses by the time we had canapés and sweet biscuits with coffee! We loved the whole dining experience here so much and sat down for dinner at 6.30pm and stayed for most of the evening, each course was such a delight! We then retired to the lounge to soak up the atmosphere ... It was such a p"
"Night before lockdown part 2 and you could not fault any aspect of our stay. We had a half tea, which was huge and ready for us upon arrival. Spa was lovely (second time visiting the spa) massages and facilities are perfect. Evening meal was 5 star, and service was exceptional. I did expect a limited menu due to the impending lockdown but that was not the case at all. Found everything very traditional, staff dressed smartly which is often missed in other establishments in favour of 'fashionable attire' we thought the service and effort was really welcoming and far superior to other places that we have stayed. Everything is very well thought out and timings are just right and all staff we met were very attentive. We liked our room and the tea and coffee was well stocked and the bed very comfortable. Breakfast was very nice and service continued to be of a very high standard. Can't wait to re book the same overnight spa, dinner bed and breakfast deal!"
"We have just returned from yet another visit to Northcote. This time we experienced the fabulous spa facility. I enjoyed a wonderfully relaxing treatment - tranquil, smart atmosphere, professional, friendly therapists - a real treat. A pity the weather prevented us from taking advantage of the amazing views from the terrace area, but the pool is fabulous! Our overnight stay could not have been better - very comfortable bed, beautiful bedroom, very attentive and pleasant staff, very good food - in all a brilliant experience. We will be back!"

"We stayed for 2 nights after Christmas. This was our first visit to Kentisbury Grange, it is a superb hotel in a lovely rural location. We highly recommend this hotel, the building, decor, facilities and staff are outstanding. It is rare that you find all hotel staff from front of house to restaurant and bar being so attentive and professional. We must compliment the management for the high standards set out at this hotel and to the staff who deliver them with a smile on their faces. The Michael Caines Coach House restaurant offer excellent food and very high standards. Definitely be returning. Thanks guys for a great stay. "
"We first came here about 10 weeks ago and stayed in the main hotel, and were so impressed that we booked again to stay in a lodge with hot tub to celebrate our birthdays. The staff are very friendly and helpful, the restaurant in the grounds is superb along with the people that work within. Our only issue was the breakfast menu which was very limited and egg based! We had been upgraded as our hot tub wasn’t working properly, so we had the best of the best garden suite at no extra cost with breakfast included. Many thanks to all responsible for stay, faultless cleanliness and helpfulness."
"We stayed for dinner B&B on a very good deal and had a very enjoyable night. Our garden room was fine although lacking and umbrella (which was needed!), there were no soaps in the rom (they were readily given to us a reception) and there was no water in the fridge. It was a very good room albeit a little tired. Dinner was of the “fine dining” school and whilst not particularly memorable it was carefully and well presented. A number of items were unavailable and one dish served to us was inedible and drew no response from them. The staff however were excellent, relaxed, chatty and efficient. Perhaps they were all a little fraught as the whole place closed down about 5 minutes after we left! We wish the crew well!"

Taw Vale Parade, Barnstaple, Devon, United Kingdom
"I hadn't had lunch here for a while. We came as a group of 20 ladies last November for a leaving do and were all very impressed with our excellent lunch in cosy comfort here on a raw, wet day. A few unexpected people had arrived but the staff quickly organised another table. Our meal was delicious, two courses, each offering about 5 choices, The price included coffee/tea and chocolate. We have been back since with an even bigger group of 36 ladies and my husband has now adopted it as a regular lunch venue with his group of gentlemen. The staff are all lovely, friendly and efficient. The secure parking is a boon. "
"We always stay at this hotel in Barnstable and are never disappointed. The staff are wonderful friendly and attentive. The food is great always a good, choice and beautifully cooked and presented. We shall be going back again, we up graded to a suite this time and it had some lovely touches.... fresh fruit and a little box of chocs. But best of all fresh milk every day on the fridge for your morning coffee. Really excellent "
"Our second short break this year, and as all our previous visits, from start to finish our stay was exactly as we hoped. Friendly and efficient staff, clean, comfortable and luxurious accommodation, and last, but certainly not least, superb food. Having used other hotels in the Brend Group, their standards and attention to detail are in evidence at every one. Highly recommended."

Whiddon Drive, Barnstaple, North Devon, EX32 8RY, Barnstaple, Devon, United Kingdom
"I used to stay regularly at Premier inns and found that the rooms are generally of a good standard /comfortable, however I have found the breakfast can be hit and miss on occasion For as long as I can remember ( visits going back at least 5 years )they have in many cases had problems with their toasters in doing what they should do, toast bread. As in the past it took three goes to toast my bread therefore causing unnecessary waits , Premier Inn you have had those ridiculous toasters for years, when are you going to cough up and get some decent ones ? No butter was available only cheap margarine packs , on asking was told they hadn’t had any for a couple of days, I don’t like margarine and as the breakfast is £9.50 should have been sorted , especially as they said they hadn’t any for a couple of days. ( a bit like a fish & chip shop without salt & vinegar ) Lastly, I specifically asked for 2 runny poached eggs , the breakfast arrived the bacon looked like it was the last of a batch , on lifting the warmish bacon from the plate the grease dropped on to plate into a lovely puddle The runny poached eggs I asked for were as hard as bullet couldn’t be bothered complaining "
"Stayed for two nights whilst visiting family in the area, cannot fault it . Staff very friendly and helpful. Room clean , bed comfortable good nights sleep . Had full English breakfast , as much as you can eat for £9.50 so much choice and well cooked . First night we went for a lite bite in the restaurant and opted for the soup , it came Luke warm and very watery . We asked for it to be warmed up, they apologised and brought another and offered us a free drink. Second night we went in for a full meal , again well cooked and staff very friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend staying here."
"The hotel was what you expect for a Premier Inn, the bed was comfortable, pillows were a little bit lumpy. But it was very good value. The hotel was all set up for a covid-safe experience. We booked in for the breakfast for the two mornings we were there. The first morning we were sat right by the kitchen and the music was blaring. We asked for this to be turned down and the staff obliged. The breakfast service was atrocious, this was clearly compounded by the lack of staff (a staff member commented someone had phoned in sick) and the waitress herself was pregnant and carrying massive trays of food. Our breakfasts came out at different times. We understood this wasn't the fault of the staff - but the restaurant clearly had not adjusted to Covid (despite having a few months to do so). The next morning was a bit smoother, we asked to sit in a different area and made our orders very clear! The food itself was not amazing, but it's a cheap breakfast."

Saunton Sands Hotel, Braunton, Devon, United Kingdom
"You go for the view and stay for the staff - Amazing cliff top location overlooking massive beach and expansive sand dunes. Do go the extra mile and pay for a seaview room - Delightful staff. Ratio of staff to guests is very generous - without being intrusive there was always someone to help or offer service. Incredibly friendly and brilliant with kids - particularly the doorman and ladies servicing the rooms - Delicious food. Small portions of very high quality food at dinner but it isnt cheap. Lovely breakfast. Guests booking a seaview room are guaranteed a window seat in dining room - so worth it - Beautiful new spa with floor to ceiling window onto beach - wow! - Great creche - we left our baby for the first time and felt very comfortable doing so -Very useful baby kit (eg bouncer, changing table) prebookable - Some reviews have commented negatively on the 'old school's decor and requirement for maintenance. It is a 1920s art deco stuccoed building on a cliff top - maintenance is inevitable. The place looked almost immaculate to us and the team were clearly working hard to keep it that way. You wont get that character in a newer property. -Rooms are small, especially the bathrooms. Wasnt an issue for us but might be for some In short, if you can afford it, go."
"We planned a short break to Saunton for a birthday get-together with family. The hotel were great at every stage from our booking onwards. On arrival, Neil and Paul were very helpful and friendly with our bags. Check-in was friendly and swift. The staff at Saunton are all friendly and helpful and were keen to see that we were well looked after and enjoy our stay there. The bar, lunches, cream tea and dinner were all excellent and we find it a joy and a treat to return there on each occasion. Thank you for another wonderful few nights at the best hotel in Devon!"
"Did a dinner, bed breakfast and spa trip with my two adult children daughters for their birthdays. The room was very clean, beds so comfortable and the view fantastic. Food was really good and spa so relaxing with friendly staff. Great value for money. Would definitely come again."

"Booked here for one night as we had a family funeral to attend. From the moment we arrived staff were friendly and polite thought out our staff. Hotel is very smart, modern and clean. We we’re allowed to check in early after contacting the hotel in advance and were even upgraded for free which so very kind. Room was first class with everything you could want during your stay, very clean and again modern. While waiting to go out we went to the lovely well stocked ground floor bar for a drink. Again staff friendly and professional bar area is lovely with nice sofas to relax on. In the morning we attended the restaurant for breakfast and had a nice full English prior to checking if out. Will definitely stay here again when down in Devon and hopefully for longer."
"Stayed here for 1 night on business. I usually stay at the premier inn but fancied something different and the prices here are not much more. The hotel has ample parking. The decor is great and staff very friendly and helpful. We ate in the restaurant, looked after by the manager, Magdalena and her staff who were very efficient but still had time for a chat. The food was delicious and prices very reasonable for the quality of food Breakfast is amazing"
"This hotel is clean, stylish and comfortable. The superior rooms are quiet and overlook Rock Park and the river Taw. The location is excellent as it is just a 10 minute walk into Barnstaple centre. There is also free parking. Breakfast is ample and well cooked and the staff are friendly and welcoming. Difficult to find a fault!"

"I have been coming to this lovely hotel for a number of years and always have a wonderful time. The hotel has undergone modernisation which has taken some time but the end result is superb This time I stayed in a standard room overlooking the high street and it was beautifully decorated as was the bathroom (2 sinks no less!!) There was only a little outside noise thanks to effective double glazing Tasty breakfast in the morning rounded off a lovely stay"

"My husband and I went with our 2 friends to The Carlton for Sunday lunch yesterday 15th March. We are locals and have to admit this was our first visit, we had heard many great reports so decided it was time we tried it ourselves - well we were not disappointed what a lovely restaurant, very tastefully decorated and very contemporary design throughout. The meal was gorgeous, a great menu available, not just a Sunday roast either - the food was plentiful, home cooked, fresh veg and potatoes, amazing yorkies and plenty of meat. Really tasty - we had 3 courses and were all really impressed. The service were also excellent and staff were very helpful. Would happily recommend and will definitely be returning. Many thanks Jannine"

"Clean, nice decor, all staff friendly, refurbished room, compact but good use of space , drawers under divan bed and all that you need, including an iron and ironing board, fan, mini fridge, powerful shower. Breakfast tasty and served fresh and hot. Quiet location and comfortable nights sleep. "
