Herzog-Wilhelm-Str. 54, Bad Harzburg, Lower-Saxony, Germany
"I have stayed here several times, and each time it seems better than the last. The attention to detail is first-class, in the furnishngs, the rable settings, the bathrooms, and also with the staff. They are incredibly effcient and responsive, and take pride in their work. This must all stem from the owners who lead by example. I love the breakfasts, they are awesome, and tea and coffee are still served to you in beautiful silver pots rather than helping yourself from a machine. Dinners are quite imaginative and creatively presented, often featuring local venison. I can’t fault this hotel, it is worth visiting Bad Harzburg just to stay there. Excellent in every sense!"
"The romantic hotel braunschweiger hof is a very luxury and exclusive hotel. The breakfast is very good and the rooms are clean. The only things that I can say that’s is not good about the rooms is that the bathroom can be small. I was three times in this hotel and it was just incredible. But if you want to go out for dinner I would not go in the restaurant wich is connected with the hotel because it is very expensive and the service wasn’t that good. But all over it is a good hotel and I am coming back next year."
"I spent two nights for a family gathering, and I have to say that this was one of the best hotels i have ever been to. When you enter, you know immediately that this hotel is so well managed, and the most important thing: with heart and soul. Staff is welcoming, the restaurant is excellent, the room is cozy and nice, shower has perfect dimensions... everything was just wonderful."

Am Kurpark 1-3, Bad Sachsa, Lower-Saxony, Germany
"We booked half pension, comfort room. On arrival we received a room that didn’t fit the description and pictures on the site, but fit the description of a junior comfort room. Despite a first denial of the downgrade in the end we got our booked (splendid and well equiped) comfort room. The hotel is a beautiful old one, but well modernized, with a good sauna, swimming pool, hardst ever used gym. There’s No airco, normally No problem, but in the freightfully hot July of 2018, it would have been welcome. Breakfast is overwhelming with a broad choice, although less choice for low-fatters. Dinner is optional, I suggest to book later on. There is plenty of choice in the buffet, vegetables are all over the place, very good. Everyday’s soup is most of the time not very inspired. The main course has always three choices. A white fish, pastadish, meat. And a lot of potatoes Made in various ways, but never frites. Everything that was italian inspired with tomatoes was ruïned by “italian herbs”, a misstaken supermarket concept, ASK Any Italian for am explanation. Desert was good, with choice of cheese, icecream, mousses, cakes, fruit. The staf was helpful and attentive. Cleaning was good. The surroundings are beautiful, of you can stand a sometimes painful downfall of wealth and upperclass toerism. Nature is overwhelming."
"what a wonderful place ... you do not expect in the Thuringian forest ... absolute quiet ... friendly service ... great hotel ... nice lounge ... ice-free service for the car .. very good free wifi. my room (110) .. was just great ... with a couch ... great mattress ... nice bathroom ... great swimming pool ... sauna and wellness area just as new and very nice ... The breakfast. .. very varied ... everything fresh .. many different things ... it was a great stay ... thank you very much ... I'll be back for sure ..."
"Large room ( superior plus) with lots of storage ! Also good for a longer stay... Rooms facing the street are dark due to the mountain across the street. Traffic is average ( there is a school up the street), but nights are quiet."

Torfhaus 2, Altenau, Lower-Saxony, Germany
"Very nice hotel in the heart of the Harz Mountains. Exceptionally friendly staff in the hotel and nearby restaurant. Wonderful views towards The Brocken. This establishment has a number of chalets and a main hotel block. We were in the main block. Our room was very well equipped, clean and obviously well maintained. We had a view facing the forest and the mountains beyond, which was a bonus (Some hotel room face the car park). Facilities include a gym and saunas. The restaurant is a very short stroll away and this is where a fabulous breakfast is available. The evening menu is great with plenty of choice and we thought it to be very good value. The BIG walk her is to The Broken and back. It's well signposted and we would say manageable for most people. They advise to allow 3 hours each way but we slightly beat that at about 2.5 hours at a fairly leisurely pace. We'd definitely stay here again if we ever visit the region again."
"The reception desk, the room and the restaurant are located in different buildings. You need to go outside. That can be a problem when the weather is bad. For the rest everything was great here: very friendly welcome, very helpoful staff, not so spacious room but comfortable, good bed, very nice bathroom, very tasty and extensive breakfast and ... all of this at a very sharp price."

Sebastian-Kneipp-Promenade 56, Bad Lauterberg im Harz, Lower-Saxony, Germany
"I had been there for a conference, although it is also a spa hotel. The building is huge, a lot of space, also in the room. Bath was a bit tiny, but ok. The equipment was ok, the matrasses a bit soft, after some nites I lacked a good sleep. The room also offers a deposit box, a minibar, a desk, chairs, a big wardrobe and some hooks for jackets. Toiletries are ok, towles also, enough hot water, even in the morning. Breaky was buffet style with scrambled eggs, smoked fish, sausages, cheese, jam, cereals, bread, juices and milk, coffe and tea. Receptionists were very helpful and friendly. Waiters in the restaurant differ a much. The chairs in the conference halls are not good, maybe for my proportions. After six hours I couldnt longer sit anymore. There is also a gym that looks ok, but the cardios are a bit of outworn, maybe lacking some maintenance. In case you got a package with lunch and dinner, it maybe is also buffet style. The offer a big salad bar, but with a lot of already marinated salads, fresh greens could be more. Checkin and out was convenient, the hotel is a silent one. Just avoid the conference parties at the bars!"
"This mini, country hotel/resort reminds us of another time, where decor, staff service, food quality and attention to detail are long forgotten. Personally, reminds us of Baguio Country Club, RP or Grand Hotel on Mackinaw Island, MI. Period outfits of staff are great as are all furniture and art selections. Very inviting atmosphere, even if exterior looks like a 1960s Soviet apartment building. Superior spa with extensive and great services. Hotel has pool, sauna, gym, susn tanning room, tennis courts, etc. Places to enjoy outside gardens or relax on a enclosed solarium/sun bathing patio. Well worth a stay for a few nights."
"Hotel staff always helpful providing a good service and nice impression of the hotel. Breakfast and dinner of good quality and taste. Nice gym (only missed a spinning cycle ), pool (panorama view would have been great) and sauna area."

Alte Wernigeröder Straße 1, Schierke, Saxony-Anhalt, Germany
"It's a really nice place, but not without its pitfalls. I have stayed here twice in 2019, once in June and again in September. You simply cannot beat the location, the hills, the trees and just how quiet it is assuming the other guests behave accordingly. The front desk staff were always friendly and whilst there was bit of language barrier we got by well enough. Ample parking but it gets busy on a Friday and Saturday night due to the restaurant so this can swamp the spaces outside. Why do they not prioritise paying guests? Pet friendly which was great as we could bring our dog and with the rural location meant for great walking distances. The distant sound of the local steam locomotive added to the atmosphere of this central Deutschland location, which when overlooking the view we had from our room was quite frankly, magical. There are some oddities about the place, each apartment has a cooker but no grill and no oven, this I must admit got my back up, as it was clearly a money saving technique as well as forced persuasion to use their own restaurant, which quite frankly is a rip off at €20 each just for breakfast, which includes then getting the beds made up, which I felt was a cheeky idea, especially when you're already paying enough to simply be there. On the note of cheekiness I had a bad experience in the restaurant on my first hour of being there in June. My partner informed the staff I was Vegan, which they said wasn't a problem but when we went down for lunch it was quite a different story. The waitress seemed to notion that this was a big inconvenience, come on now, you have guests from all walks of German life here, they ALL have to be catered for, so I ordered a Jacket Potato with mushrooms and a side salad, which I categorically stated to have no cream based dressing, otherwise I fall very ill. When it came out all seemed well until I noticed the chef had hidden a yoghurt based dressing underneath the salad, when all other guests had theirs on top. This was in my opinion a deliberate micky take and sabotage, I had thankfully only had one mouthful but almost immediately my stomach started to churn. They took it back and returned with just a simple side salad, the potato and mushrooms were gone. At this stage I realised they were simply mucking me about and I was not remotely impressed, how dare you! You can actually kill people with stupidity of this behaviour! So, that was the last time I ever used the restaurant and besides, Wernigerode have enough places offering Vegan options, or else we resigned to eating in our room. But needless to say I've never forgotten that incident. Overall it is a well run place, friendly staff but with no oven or grill in the room plus an arrogant clown of a chef running the restaurant with guests who are in a restrictive diet there is most certainly room for improvement here, including the need for better WiFi."

Marktplatz 2, Ilsenburg, Saxony-Anhalt, Germany
"this 5-star is wonderfully located and close to many of the Harz's highlights. Great start- end point for hiking or biking! Classy hotel with beautiful dining (and breakfast) area facing the lake. Excellent kitchen, very sophisticated. Bartender very knowledgeable and also a funny chap. One small comment if I may: bar should always be open in a 5-star, also on Sunday evening. Bedrooms spacious with excellent quality of bed, good shower, very silent rooms. Charging our Tesla (at no additional cost) was just wonderful, thank you so much hotel for embracing the future. Other electric cars also welcome thanx to the other double charger they have on the parking lot (both Tesla and RWE chargers 22 kW allowing for fast charging, great). Liebe Gruesse aus Holland and see you next year!!"
"I attend a conference here and staid only one night, we had a conference package. Check in very quick and friendly, spacious room and great bed. Shower big, even no walk-in. Service during the conference very good. Barbecue in the evening with great service and good food. Breakfast quality and selection perfect. Nice Spa, even I had no time but I visited to get an opinion. Area around the hotel very quite. Great people, very good food and nice rooms ! Price was also ok. "
"During the Years, we have been staying at many 5-star hotels, but we have never experienced a service as bad as this. After checking-in, we went to our room and when we opened the door to the room, it had an awful smell. All the windows where open and even that could not take the terrible smell away. We complained at the Reception and they promised to have a look, while we had dinner at their restaurant. After dinner, we went back to the Reception and they said that they had checked the room and nothing was the matter. We asked the receptionist to go with us, and when we came to the room, they had sprayed perfume over all over the room to cover the bad smell, the result was even worse. A combination of cigar, wet dog and perfume. We then asked to speak with the manager. He excused, and said we could have an upgrade to a suite the day after. We were going to stay there for 4 nights, so that was a fair solution. A few moments after the manager came back and excused but there was no suites available, so we could get a discount for staying in this room. He would be back soon with a proposition. He never came back, and when we contacted the Reception again, they told us he had gone home. The smell was still very awful, so we decided to drive home to Denmark instead."
