87 Cours Pasteur, Saint-Martin-de-Re, Nouvelle-Aquitaine, France
"First Impressions. This beautiful hotel did not disappoint from the time I parked my car in the car park and I was greeted by staff until the time I departed. First class service in beautiful surroundings with all the services we required for our stay over the New Year. The Rooms & Facilities. The 21 well equipped rooms containing Flat screen LCD TV, Wi-Fi internet access, iPod alarm clock dock, Air conditioning, Mini bar, Personal safe, Telephone, Iron and ironing board and a very comfortable bed with duvet and pillow. The bathroom has a Shower, bathtub, and WC, Magnifying mirror, Hairdryer and quality toiletries. The hotel has a luxury Spa dedicated to well-being and a relaxed setting, the Clos Saint-Martin on île de Ré. There are two outdoor heated pools a fitness room and nice bicycles you can hire to explore île de Ré. The Lounge Bar "Le Petit Bec" offers light catering, afternoon tea and drinks to enjoy with friends, seasonal and simple dishes at the poolside when the weather's nice, in front of the TV screen for sports and news fans. The food was excellent, a fresh buffet breakfast every day and nothing was too much trouble for the staff serving hot food. The New Year’s Eve gala dinner was good with a variety of food on offer and enough wine and Champaign to toast in the New Year and the following day the New Year’s Day brunch was excellent, a great selection of fine food. Service. The service at Clos Saint Martin was second to none, nothing was too much trouble for the staff throughout our stay and they were always on hand to offer advice and recommendations for cycle rides, restaurants, bars or just walks around the area when required. Every member of the team was warm, polite, friendly and did not fail to deliver. Overall I enjoyed my stay here and I would not hesitate in returning, it’s a fantastic hotel with excellent service on this beautiful island Service- 10 /10 The Food- 8/10 Room - 9/10 Facilities - 10/10 Value for Money - 9/10."
"This was our third visit to this fabulous boutique hotel. Manager Mélanie and her team create a personalized welcoming atmosphere. The staff always greeted us by name and were consistently gracious. Our room was spacious and beautifully redecorated. Housekeeping was impeccable. The grounds and the two pools are so peaceful. The property is maintenance in pristine condition. Breakfast was excellent. The buffet was constantly replenished. After the first day, the servers knew exactly how we liked our coffee. We loved having a glass of champagne at Happy Hour which was available every afternoon. It is a short ( really!) walk into the town of St Martin where there are many restaurants, shops, and a scenic harbor. There are several other charming smaller towns on the island that are accessible by bike or car. We are so eager to return."
"In September, we had the pleasure of staying a week in Le Clos Saint Martin, in Ile de Re. This is a beautiful hotel, peaceful and tranquil, yet only a short stroll away from the busier marina and village of St Martin. The bedrooms are compact, simply but beautifully decorated. The pool and spa are relaxing areas to chill out and the food is very good. What really makes this a great place to stay is professionalism, friendliness and great attention to detail of Melanie and the entire team at Le Clos. I'd highly recommend Le Clos and can't wait to return."

"Small well appointed hotel breakfast served across the road ( short walk ) to sister hotel rooms are fun and well maintained pool small but all you need Breakfast was well presented and plentiful staff helpful without being pushy location is good for nearest village and beach a short stroll away restaurant served good food at reasonable prices bar was expensive we felt for the atmosphere Value for money will depend on your requirements for us was great quiet private clean comfortable If you want somewhere smart private and in a good location this is the place good for couples although we noticed families here which is nice"
"We stayed at the hotel in March. The weather was superb, which was important as the beach is just a few metres away. The room was great with private hot tub. Good food in the restaurant and great breakfast. Secure parking was also a bonus. The best thing about the hotel was the superb welcome by the guy in reception. He was absolutely superb and nothing was too much trouble. I'm sorry but we didn't get his name"

65 avenue du passage des boeufs, Le Bois-Plage-en-Re, Nouvelle-Aquitaine, France
"Visited with family 10-16 July. Accommodation was excellent. Breakfast was good enough. Restaurant was very good indeed. Proximity to beach, access to the town and surrounding areas were top class. Most of all was the outstanding attention to service given by all of the staff that we encountered. They are an asset that the management should hang onto! Nothing was a problem and service was provided with a big smile, notwithstanding diners checking the progress of World Cup football matches being played during dinner and shown on large screen TV in an adjacent lounge. I have no hesitation in recommending Hotel Ile de Re. Note, we made a late booking, so the hotel was not our first choice in the area. These were fully booked. So we were cautious about the small number of reviews for this hotel. Do not let that put you off, it deserves its five star rating."
"We stayed for Fri-Sun for a quiet break with our dog. The hotel staff are very pleasant, efficient and speak good english; so no problems with translation. The room, we had the mid-cost suite was very well equipped, cleaned every day and was very modern. The shower-room was lovely. The bed (we found) really comfortable & my wife slept really well. We ate in the hotel restaurant (booking really important) and the menu was very good, accounted for gluten/veggie diets and the wine list was good. Our only gripe was that it was quite expensive both the room and eating there. We didn't use the Spa but there were a lot of people using it, all seemed satisfied. If the 'menu's' prices were reduced by about €5-10, I would have given the Hôtel Ile de Ré 5 etoilles!"
"It is important to start by saying that there are some very positive elements about this hotel. In particular Stephen who welcomed us at reception was excellent - we could not have hoped for a more friendly welcome after a long drive. The room is modern and spotlessly clean with a nice private terrace. However this hotel is expensive for what it is - we paid over 1000 euros for 4 nights which did not include breakfast - a simple onsite breakfast is 14 euros a head which is ridiculous and should definitely be included in the room rate here. We were also charged 30 euros to hire two bikes for one day - this just felt like the Hotel taking advantage. It’s also worth saying that this is really a very nice chalet arrangement rather than being a hotel as such - again another reason why it feels overpriced. The staff we met here deserve a 4 even a 5 but management would really need to address the overall value of the offer for us to want to return."

Rue Port Notre Dame, Sainte-Marie-de-Re, Nouvelle-Aquitaine, France
"Despite negative comments, this is really a great place. If you are worried about the rooms, ask for one that has been redone. Ours was really nice, spacious, clean and with a very comfortable bed. Staff are very friendly and helpful, though overworked. Food is excellent, both in the hotel and the thalasso area. Fresh, creative and very tasty. We have no problems recommending this hotel"
"Overall the hotel is nice, staff is friendly and the location is beautiful. We had a very modern room with a great bathroom. However, when we went to the spa we were a bit shocked. The floor was dirty, the changing rooms didn’t look inviting and overall the spa is not a place where you want to spend all day. If the spa would be changed and taken care of I think the hotel would be great. "
"Nice location by the beach but this isn’t a 4 star hotel. Bit shabby round the edges and needs some TLC, not as good as the pictures. Breakfast was good but you have to be quick off the mark as they run out quickly. Evening meal was average, we only ate there once there is much better food on the island. "

Allée de la Guyane, Saint-Martin-de-Re, Nouvelle-Aquitaine, France
"Location is fantastic. My wife and I were in a room next to another one for her sister on the second level of three levels with park and ocean view. Young Sofia at the front desk is wonderful. She speaks five languages and is very helpful, she booked a table at the best place (right around the corner) for my wife's birthday and left a b-day card and chocolates in our room. The whole staff is very nice and so is their 8 euro hotel breakfast that I heartily recommend. The in room instant coffee was horrible but the coffee and espresso served downstairs at the breakfast buffet is fantastique. As were the croissants (3 different kinds) breads, cakes, fresh fruit salad, juices, cheese and cold cut selection, yogurts and cereals. I ate so much our first morning that I skipped lunch that day. Getting to the hotel was a bit unexpected. The GPS brought our rental car to a nearby rotary but there was a big steel piling blocking access to the road the hotel is on. I was perplexed. That's when my wife remembered the email we'd been sent from the hotel a few days earlier with an odd little six digit code attached. Waddaya know - there was a keypad by the road (i hadn't noticed it) and when I entered that code the steel barrier sunk down into the pavement. We were in. Later, Sofia explained that next time we wanted to enter the street all we had to do was wave our room key at the keypad. James Bond-style, nice. There are not many cars allowed into this little village, which is great for us pedestrians. We pre-booked a spot in the little garage beneath the hotel. A bit tight if you have to park in the very last space down by the scooters like I did the first day. Beds and pillows are super comfortable. Everything is spotlessly clean. TV worked great but mostly played USA crime shows with french dubbed in. I was hoping for more Brigitte Bardot and Catherine Deneuve films. Wifi went down all weekend. Not a problem for me, it came back on Monday. The faucet in the tub/shower was odd to me. Imagine a faucet shaped like a paper towel tube. You twist the left hand end of the tube to turn the water pressure on and off. The right end of the tube controls the temp. Ours didn't turn very easily, too hot or too cold - but my sister-in-law said hers worked fine. I wasn't in the mood to complain or have plumbers up to the room. I left the maid a tip after the first night but she tossed it aside. So we waited til the last day to tip. Will definitely return to this beautiful little hotel."
"We chose Le Galion to celebrate my husband's birthday and had a wonderful three night stay. The hotel has parking available to pre-book and is well situated for the harbour and restaurants. Our room on the second floor had fantastic views and the room itself was modern, attractive, comfortable and so quiet! The delicious breakfast was taken in the pretty courtyard where you could also sit and enjoy a glass of wine and apperos later in the day. Lastly, the service was excellent. We'll be back!"
"We stayed here on our last night on the island .The modern and recently updated room on the first floor had view which was fantastic with large opening windows,a view of the park and lighthouse ,with the sea behind. Great place to visit and have a walk around the old fort and then dinner by the marina .A little pricey but you are paying for the prime location and a great place to go to finish off the holiday . The staff were really friendly."

154, Avenue Des Dunes, Rivedoux-Plage, Nouvelle-Aquitaine, France
"My husband, Son (11 years) and I stayed at the Hotel for one night as an extension to our time in France to finish off our Holiday in a relaxed style. We arrived early and were able to utilise the luggage storage and use the Hotel facilities immediately. We enquired about late check out as our plane was late the following evening, and as no one else had booked the suite, we were given an extra hour without charge, and were able to continue to use the pool until we left at 8.00 pm. The Suite was just as the pictures on the booking.com website through whom we booked. Our son loved his individually styled bed, and we liked the little balcony which overlooked the pool. There was a separate toilet to the nicely appointed bathroom with overhead shower, complete with a selection of toiletries; shampoos, hair net, manicure set, ear cleaners, and body cream. The only negative is that there are no tea and coffee making facilities. We loved the pool area, and particularly the Jacuzzi. We didn't have a problem in getting sunbeds either. Hot/Cold drinks can be obtained from the reception area, with a couple of choices of chocolate bar (no mini bar in room, bottled water provided only). Cocktails can be provided by reception until it closes at 10.30 pm. A pass-code for the back and front entrance are given should you be out partying later than that! The town is only 10 mins walk from the hotel. (Turn left out of the Hotel, walk to the underpass and turn left and keep going past the church - you won't miss it!). There is a park 5 minutes from the Hotel (turn right and walk the beach path) and a beach bar 2 minutes further along. There is a hotel instructions manual written in both French and English, and you are handed an Ile De Rey guide book when given your room key. We booked the 13 euro breakfast, but I wouldn't again and would have the 8 euro continental. The restaurant, attached to the Hotel (where breakfast is served) is a delight for afternoon and evening dining. We enjoyed some fantastic food and would highly recommend including the service. We chose the three course meal for £28 euros each, and felt it was fantastic value. The beach is excellent. Beautiful golden sand, which my son and I walked along up to and opposite the little lighthouse. Plenty of rock pools up at that end of the beach when the tide goes out, and we saw quite a few families with buckets collecting. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend to travellers wanting a relaxing stay, or as a base with a car to tour the island. The staff are wonderfully accommodating and ready to help with any request or queries."
"Perfectly located, 30 seconds from the beach and a little beach cafe for cheap lunches. 2 minutes to a fabulous beach bar for snacks and watersports. Lovely friendly helpful staff, immaculate pool and public areas. Room opened on to terrace and pool. Bike hire straight from the hotel-no need to pre book, best prices around. In my opinion staying in Rive-doux is the best option on the island as you will be the first stop after the bridge by bus, or cheapest by taxi, it is a chilled out beachy town with lovely little cafes, bars and restaurants. You can explore the whole island from here - cycle to La Flotte, Saint -Martin and many other little stop offs within half an hour - or jump on the 1 euro bus for further trips - maybe to the light house at the other end of the Island - beautiful! effective air conditioning in the rooms, hair dryer in the room too. The attached restaurant is brilliant too - lovely evening meal and breakfast. A must is a visit to The Plage restaurant, fifteen minutes walk back toward the bridge - excellent food and live music - amazing host too. Cannot wait to return to this hotel. Happy memories - thank you to all the staff xx"
"We stayed here for four nights and had a fabulous time. The staff were so helpful and friendly, our rooms opened onto the pool which was lovely. Nice clean pool area with sunbeds to relax on. Just over the road from the beach, which had a beach club/cafe which was a real gem, with excellent food, drinks and music. The atmosphere there in the evenings was particularly special. Bikes were available to hire from the hotel and you could cycle into Rivedoux-Plage town centre, or further to towns such as La Flotte, which had an excellent array of shops and restaurants, and a market on the port. Would definitely recommend and love to return!"
