【Updated Dec. 21】Thailand halts Quarantine-free Entry Policy
From December 21st, Thailand halted its quarantine-free entry policy. No more applications for quarantine-free entry into Thailand will be accepted. It will last until Jan. 4th, when the Covid-19 panel lead by Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-Ocha will reassess the program.
Visitors who have already applied for quarantine-free entry and got approvements, will be allowed to enter Thailand without quarantine, but additional requirements are needed: they should take PCR test upon their arrival and day 7.
Quarantine-free Travel to Thailand from US
On October 22, Thailand announces that it will offer quarantine-free travel for tourists from 46 countries/ territories from November 1 2021, to revive the economy, which is recovering from its important tourism collapse. Tourists will no longer need 2-week quarantine when they travel to Thailand from US as long as they meet certain requirments.
Requirements for Travelers to Thailand from US
The United States is one of 46 countries from whose tourists, approved by Thailand, will be exempt from November 1. Therefore, tourists who travel to Thailand from US do not need to spend 14 days in a hotel dong nothing. Instead, they can immediately enjoy Thailand scenery, attractions, activities and foods as long as they meet the following conditions:
- Stop in an approved country/territory on the list 21 days before departure.
- At least 14 days before departure, travelers should take full COVID-19 vaccine approved by the World Health Organization (WHO) for emergency use.
- A negative RT-PCR test certificate for COVID-19 within 72 hours before departure.
- Perform an additional RT-PCR test upon arrival in Thailand and self-quarantine at a SHA+ approved hotel for 1 night while waiting for the test result.
- Purchase medical insurance that is valid in Thailand, with a minimum coverage of USD 50,000.

How to Return to USA with Quarantine-free Entry back from Thailand
Fully vaccinated tourists, no matter whether they are U.S. citizens, do not need quarantine when they end their travel to Thailand from US. However, as CDC official annoucement requires, they do need some materials to prove their status and following instructions as mentioned below.
1. Get a negative SARS-CoV-2 viral test result: Fully vaccinated air travelers coming to the United States from abroad, including U.S. citizens, are still required to have a negative SARS-CoV-2 viral test result or documentation of recovery from COVID-19 before they board a flight to the United States.
2. Take a SARS-CoV-2 viral test 3-5 days after arrival.
3. Prepare fully vaccinated proof material: For U.S. citizens, Smart Health Card (SHC) should work.
