Franklin Apartments

They charged a $200 deposit upon check-in and wouldn't accept cash, only credit cards. My bank's SMS showed the charge had already gone through, but the hotel claimed the money was still on my card. When I checked out in the morning, they promised the deposit would be refunded by evening, but it's been a week and it still hasn't shown up in my account. This feels like a total scam.

Facilities: Very good, well-equipped. Cleanliness: Clean and tidy. Environment: Good surroundings.

The hotel's exterior looks decent, but the in-room facilities are quite poor. The furniture is old, the lighting is dim, and some of the lights weren't working. We booked a one-bedroom unit, but they gave us a two-bedroom (one large, one small) at check-in, which was a pleasant surprise. However, the small room had no power outlets or bedside tables. Luckily, I brought a long charging cable, so I had to plug it into an outlet in the hallway (possibly for cleaning staff) and then moved a stool from the living room to the bedside just to charge my phone. Thankfully, we only stayed one night; I probably won't be returning.

△ Downsides The washing machine was incredibly moldy and unusable! (I was so disappointed.) The dryer, however, worked fine. Also, the sofa was a fabric sofa bed, and it smelled of the previous guests' body oils, which was quite unpleasant. (The front desk gave me a sheet to use as a cover, which helped.) The air conditioner also had a moldy smell, so I didn't use it. Instead, I kept the windows open. (It was early March, so it was warm, but the breeze was refreshing.) ○ Upsides - The location was excellent. There's a bus terminal just a short walk away, which was very convenient for meeting up for tours. - The bed was large and seemed to be memory foam, so I was able to sleep without any back pain. While it was close to Chinatown and Central Market, Adelaide Station seemed more lively. Perhaps a location closer to the station would have been better!
