WARNING - If you have stayed or recently booked here, make sure you check your bank for double charges. When myself and my partner first arrived after making a booking online, the owner informed us we could pay in cash and she would not charge our account via the online booking. Firstly, she had no change, so instead of giving us the $ amount back, she offered to provide a can of lemonade instead for the monetary value... Yes you read that right a can of lemonade instead of the $ After we had completed our reservation we noticed we were then charged again for the full booking via our debit card. After having spoke to the owner numerous times via email and phone calls over the last 7 weeks where she promised to refund the double charged amount each time, we are still yet to receive anything. At this point wether its laziness or pure dishonesty, it is not a great trait for an organisation to have. I'd imagine this isn't the first time this has happened by the way it has been handled. The site was in need of work throughout and I can only imagine it used to be a great place but seems to have maybe fallen on tougher times.

This was an excellent place for the last four nights very beautiful setting and very peaceful. We were down next to the lake and windmill. We certainly will be back next year. It was easy to get to town.

The cabins were very basic and the bunk beds did not come with any doonas only one very thin blanket. Although there were cups there were no glasses and we were supplied with disposal plates and cutlery. If you wanted to use the BBQ you had to have all your own utensils. The room didn’t have any blinds so it was light early and I noticed no aircon. The bathroom was bid and vey clean. There was no comfortable chair to sit on as the wooden outdoor furniture was very hard. The communal area was very dark and tired and the bar was closed This place is great for families as the children can run free and the camping area was lovely but quite a walk to the showers. Lisa was very friendly but the whole resort was not quite what it appeared and I think the advertising is quite olf

The accomodation was luxurious with a comfy bed, nice furniture, good shower and a great balcony. We enjoyed having our byo breakfast outside with a lovely view of the garden and a quaint little bridge. Mostly it was peaceful and quiet. We felt relaxed. We were warmly welcomed and received friendly service. It only took a few minutes to drive to the lovely beach at Agnes Waters and to shops and restaurants.

Southern Cross is a beautiful and welcoming hostel/camping ground. Unfortunately we only got to stay one night but in the time that we were there it was great. The hosts have created such a cool place for travellers to stay whilst visiting such a beautiful place in the Seventeen Seventy’s. My partner and I couldn’t recommend this place enough. Great facilities and for a good price, plenty to do on site aswell as discovering 1770/Agnes Water. Would absolutely love to come back and visit in the future.

Hi there My wife and I just stayed here. We took a cabin for $140 with 2 small dogs. The whole area is unusual. Built from scratch over many years. Eco friendly. The owner, lovely lady, very nice, friendly and helpful. Just ask her if you need anything. Cabin, well no A/C, which might not work for many, it gets hot. But hey, it is eco friendly. Rainwater only, hot water for shower runs on portable gas bottles. And not much storage in bedroom nor bathroom. But toilet very big, bed is big, ceiling fan, even a TV. And what you get is sounds of animals. We had a great time and highly recommend this place.

The room was clean, spacious with a queen sized bed and 2 balinese style chairs. It also contains 2 coffee cups 1 teaspoon, 1 microwave, 1 toaster, 1 kettle. There is no cutlery, no crockery no microwave implements or cooking utensils. You can imagine that it very difficult to use any of the appliances without the requisite items. The website and Trip Advisor description also states that breakfast is provided. In order to fill the kettle you have to place it under the shower as the wash hand basin is too small to fill from the bathroom. I mentioned the above to the person at the office who was helping out as the owners were away fot the weekend. He was surprised as was one of the workers who commented that the shower water may not be potable. I spoke to the owners over the phone who suggested that it was expensive to change the content of their website as the web designer had moved back to Denmark. There is NO breakfast as has not been for some time. They further commented that in the past they had provided additional items which had been subsequently stolen and I should have used utensils from the community kitchen. I let them know that I had tried however there was none available. I also pointed out to them that there have been other comments similar to mine regarding lack of crockery , cutlery etc on Google and Trip Advisor. What is stated on the website is only partly provided in practise.. The staff were very friendly and accomodating allowing me to use their outside freezer and waiting late until I arrived at 7.00pm in the evening which was appreciated.Thank you.
