"The location of the hotel is away from the city which is very relaxing for honeymooners . The staff are very kind and helpful. I even got sick and they called a Doctor and brought to our room. Ushadi and Chanaka have a very good welcoming and respectful. The Rooms are always clean and tidy, we even tried their Landry service: it was Class A. Highly recommended!"

"I can’t recommend this place enough. I came for couple of days and stayed almost two weeks😁 Very clean space, friendly and caring staff, delicious food and coffee. They also have themed menu days, and bbqs. Lum is welcoming people with open arms and hospitality. The location is also great: it’s walking distance to Kabalana beach (which is clean and nice beach), some good cafes nearby, and it’s very quiet."

Coast 67 Boutique Hotel ★★★★

📍 X9G2+XQV, Ahangama

"I had the most amazing stay at Coast 67 Boutique Hotel! The hotel is located right on the beach, so you wake up and fall asleep to the sound of the ocean. The view from the balcony was absolutely breathtaking. The rooms are beautifully designed, very spacious, and spotlessly clean – everything feels so fresh and well maintained. The staff were incredibly kind and welcoming, always ready to help with a big smile. The food was delicious with plenty of fresh and tasty options. I also loved spending time by the pool, which overlooks the ocean – it’s the perfect spot to relax and enjoy the sunset. This place truly feels like a hidden gem by the sea. I can’t recommend it enough and will definitely come back!"

📍 Baranige Wattha Walhengoda, Ahangama

"A great stay, absolutely gorgeous hotel - perfect, friendly and attentive service, small hotel so felt very safe, familiar and luxurious. Delicious food, excellent location to get to Ahangama by 5min TukTuk and be directly on a wide sandy and long (enough) beach with lots of surfers, without the actual beach being packed full of people so was calm but bustling. Would highly recommend."

Harding Boutique Hotel ★★★★★

📍 Matara Rd, Ahangama

"This hotel lived up to and beyond our expectations. The staff, from the outset were professional, caring and considerate. For sure a re-treat from the rat race demanding work duties. The rooms were modern and aesthetically appealing…clean and thoughtfully appointed. The bed and pillows were extremely comfortable. The hotel is central to all you need to visit, other attractions and night life. The chef, his menus and execution was some of the freshest and tasteful food. The team within were organised, great communication and most helpful. Thank you team Harding boutique Hotel x"

Kahaii Surf hotel Hotels in Ahangama

Kahaii Surf hotel

"This place became my gateway to the world of surfing and the perfect starting point for my Sri Lankan journey. It’s an excellent hotel that strikes a great balance: you get the professional European mindset of the Hotelier combined with the genuine care of the local staff. The rooms are clean, stylish, and well-maintained, featuring blackout curtains, mini-fridge and AC. I also appreciated the common kitchen, which is fully equipped with everything you need (gas stove, kettle, coffee machine, fridge, cutlery and tableware), as well as the fitness area on the covered terrace and the pool. A huge plus is the constant access to quality bottled drinking water. This is very important—despite the subtropical climate, I had zero digestive issues, and my acclimatization went perfectly! One small detail for light sleepers: there is a small ventilation window (*) above the entrance door. Since this increases sound sensitivity (you might hear passing tuk-tuks or scooters, along with the local peacocks), it’s something to keep in mind. However, I solved this easily with a pair of good earplugs (thoughtfully provided in the room) and slept like a log! A little fun fact in the end: the word "Kahaii" in the hotel's name translates from Belarusian as "Love" - love Surfing, love the Ocean, love Life! And yes, I truly fell in love with surfing here! 🫶❤️🤗 * - the building was originally constructed by a local, which explains this architectural feature. The window itself isn't needed for airflow since every room has AC, and you don’t have to worry about bugs—there are mosquito screens everywhere to keep uninvited guests out."

"The food here is outstanding, on a whole different level. You might not even feel the need to eat out. The hotel has immediate access to the beach, and since it's only hotel guests there, you essentially have it all to yourselves."

"Great hotel with very friendly staff. Clean rooms with big beds. The noise of the road and the sea (as the weather was bad) meant the rooms were noisy but not a problem really. May be take earplugs!"

"Minimalist design, open and light central atrium. There's a laid back vibe from arrival, with welcoming retro lounge furniture, unfortunately the choice to not provide air conditioning to this area makes it unbearably hot for almost the entire day/night, only when storms rolled in did people sit enjoying the space. We opted for the larger room with pool access, I don't think it's necessary the standard pool access rooms looked more than adequate. The room is very large with a decent size and very comfortable bed. The bathroom has separate bath and shower with twin sinks, in the room is a good sized safe that accomdates a large SLR camera easily, there are bath robes and single use slippers. There are also multi country plug sockets. There is no fridge and no kettle, but you can make use of the kitchenette. The house keeping was good but turn down service was hit or miss. For the most part noise from the road isn't disturbing when around by the pool, the sound of waves crashing is the constant soundtrack. Although the pool area is limited to guests only, we did notice on some days more people than rooms. The breakfast is very nice, although the outdoor tables are too small for the plates and dishes. There is a small kitchen area to help yourself for tea /coffee with wine/lion beer (at a cost). This seems like a nice idea but execution feels jumbled. If you need to find a staff member as the hotel often feels deserted, open the fridge, one will appear. The view from the property across the beach is wonderful, although it's clear there is a battle happening, illegal structures built on the beach were destroyed by police, much of the debris remained on the beach for days, the hotel has made efforts to tidy up but more structures have arrived, sadly this is symptomatic of a wider problem of lack of pride in a beautiful country with no thought to dumping garbage anywhere and everywhere Overall the hotel is very nice, kept to a high standard but after spending 4weeks touring SL, this hotel feels very expensive for the amenities and at times the service didn't have the warmth we experienced elsewhere, my 4 rating is generous as I feel 3 is too harsh."

Villa Alba - Ahangama ★★★★
"Nestled deep in the forest, the hotel requires a hike along some rugged, poorly maintained mountain paths, so it's best to arrive before dark. The hotel environment is superb, completely integrated with nature. The rooms are enormous, and the open-air bathrooms offer a truly unique experience. The bedding is comfortable and very clean. It's about a 40-minute drive from Mirissa, making it a good stopover for whale watching trips. Unfortunately, I left for Mirissa before dark the next day, so I couldn't enjoy the hotel's daytime views, which was a slight disappointment. However, I highly recommend this hotel."

"This time I stayed in the main building, 202 is a beautifully appointed room that feels and look brand new. Breakfast is included, and everything from the pool to the beach access is just perfect. Daily turndown service, laundry, and the amazing mr. m Rooftop for sunset drinks and dinner, you really have it all here. The new trish. lifestyle store downstairs is a great addition, offering beautiful clothing, linen, jewelry, and homeware. Seven days later and I barely left the hotel. Already looking forward to coming back!"

"Fantastic beachside escape with spectacular views, friendly service, and an overall relaxing atmosphere. Located right on the coast, the hotel provides breathtaking views of the ocean from nearly every corner. Whether you’re enjoying breakfast on the balcony or relaxing by the pool, the panoramic view of the waves crashing against the shore makes the experience unforgettable. The staff are warm, welcoming, and genuinely dedicated to making your visit as pleasant as possible. From the front desk to the housekeeping team, everyone goes out of their way to provide excellent service and helpful recommendations. The rooms could use some TLC, spacious, but they feel in need to a bit of maintenance. It's still a great place to spend a couple of days."
