The Hostel, Airlie Beach

Amazing! Stayed in the camping area - it’s the best place to go on a budget for NYE. Nice spots (if you get a good one) and great staff. It was a complete festival vibe the whole weekend 🎉🎈 Would 100% recommend for younger peeps. Try to get a space toward the back if possible!

Pros. The location is perfect, honestly it couldn't be any better. Very close to the beach and shops, but far from the noise of the main street. I stayed in a private double room which was clean but small. To be honest, it wouldn't be enough for 2 people. The mattress was comfy, but the frame wasn't the best for me. It's just me though, I got used to wooden frames. The kitchen has a decent size. I haven't used it, so can't really talk about its equipment, but it seemed it had everything you would need. The staff is very helpful, everything I asked for was delivered quickly. Cons. There is no place to put your stuff. There are shelves on both sides of the bed, but they are too small for clothes, etc. Great size for personal items tho. I had to bring one of the chairs from the balcony into the room and I used that as a 'cupboard'. Other option would have been the floor, but rather to keep my clothes out of it. Interesting that there is a big empty room as soon as you enter to that area where the private rooms and the bathroom doors open from. They could easily put a cupboard there with the opportunity to lock it. Also, there is only one power socket in the room which is too high to plug a phone charger in it (there is no charger cable long enough for that). Although I asked an extension cord and I got one, so this problem was solved quickly. Thanks for that. Although in my opinion, it would be great to have these extension cords in the rooms all the time.

We knew that is a cheap hotel, and so we didn't expect any luxury, but since we arrived the room was dirty: Floor dusty And balcony with a bit of garbage from the previous guests I guess. We didn't care bc again we thought is cheap and we don't gonna spend too long inside anyway. But when we come back tired from our adventures of the day, ready to sleep. We found out that the bed sheets were just disgusting: Lots of hair from someone else, and visible dirty. It was very disappointing. Bc we don't expect anything else but a clean bed were to sleep and was exactly what we didn't have that night, and nobody to who can ask, bc the reception closes at 5pm. So that night I have to sleep with clothes on to avoid to have to cover myself with that sheets. I called the other day in the morning to the reception to see if they can clean please, for our second and last night there and they did, but one night already was uncomfortable to be there... The venue in general is ok for the price of the rooms, but if you have bad luck and the person who supposed to clean your room decided that nobody would noticed, well so that's not good!! I hope that after this review they put more attention in the cleaning of the rooms, bc the less that you can expect is that the bed is clean.

I would have left positive review certainly if that girl was not working there!! She is just a mafia She uses the room keys to get inside the rooms at the middle of the night and steal us! We are still scared from Seing today at 6 am in our room...SHE SHOULD NOT BE THERE!!! We just wanted to sleep till 10 as we have a long day of travel and instead I m shaking from fear!! It's a pity that one bad person only would make your experience scary!! The manager is great and the other staff are safe... But this Antonella she is stealing our food from the kitchen! If you leave sthg for few minutes and she is there it disappears, she takes stuff from our storage section and we find it at her section... She lost ones hostel keys while she was distracted by...then she started accusing the customers of stealing them one by one...and some customers left because of that... I will do an official report about her, But for your safety donnt go there till she is removed from staff She will scare you and ruin your experience

As a budget option, I have very few complaints. Location is great, 2 min walk from Airlie Beach and coach to/from Prosperine Airport will drop/pick up around the corner, laundry/kitchen/locker services all available. Beds are a touch hard but nothing I couldn't sleep in. Don't expect luxury with the price you are paying in comparison to others in the locality but you'll have no problems!

Stayed here for a few days while taking a trip to the Whitsundays! Perfect location within Airlie Beach, kitchen was very clean for a hostel kitchen and there was also a pool. Stayed in a double room which was nice as it came with a balcony. Only negative that the room was on the small side but you get what you pay for !
