Crowne Plaza has a big name in the hotel business, but the iftar buffet was terrible. The only good thing was the clown they had, and that was appropriate because the buffet was a REAL CIRCUS !!! Lots of kids LOTS . . . running around, screaming. Not enough food for all the people there. The buffet basically closed 30 minutes after "maghrib" the time to start eating. The "mindi" only had rice . . . don't know what happened to the lamb. I asked the waiter and he started to use the huge spoon SEARCHING around in the mound of rice for some meat ---- "wait a minute" I told him. "This is mindi, there's supposed to be a big half of a sheep on top of the rice. What are you searching for in the rice? Is the meat hiding?" He just stopped and walked away. The "shwarama" station guy kept saying, wait 10 minutes . . . after a few times of going back, then he just walked away at 6:30 and closed everything. No sandwich for me. The only things left were macaroni, rice, vegetables, some chicken pieces and pastries. A complete ripoff and low level offerings for SAR 145 person! Some people said "haraam to charge that much and given basically nothing." What a disappointment and it was supposed to be a special Ramadan evening for my wife and me. :( Stay away. By the way, TripAdvisor had excellent and glowing reviews about this iftar buffet, but it seems that perhaps those reviews were written either by friend of the hotel or people who don't know anything about buffets.
