The hotel I rate 3 star, one lunchtime there were 5 different chicken dishes and one pork. Every day chicken and pork, sometimes the meat was cold. The staff do talk to you if you talk to them, and are very helpful, but getting information is limited. I asked about a tourist destination no one even.knew about it. The coach/van driver didn't say a word. It was bit like a horror movie going to the hotel late at nite.Because of the driver we had no idea where we were going, and he was bombing down the dark road really creepy.lol Generally I found everything worked even though the plug sockets were a bit loose. Just a standard 3 star hotel not 4. Would I go back again YES. Lovely beach and surroundings

We were originally booked for another hotel (Malibu) but it got cancelled due to it being closed as late opening -we got advised by love holidays and offered the Kaliakra and the hotel was amazing - incredible food and drinks and the colleagues in the hotel were great ❤️- due to it being before the season started it was quiet and a lot locally had not opened but we hired a car from the local firm in albena who we could not fault - we looked around a couple of days and would suggest going to the tourist information in Varna and they do daily guided tours -unfortunately only found this out too late to attend one

READ THE END FOR OUR BIGGEST COMPLAINT. So me and my partner had our first couples holiday to Bulgaria. It was a last minute trip and we flew from Luton, so for the price we paid (£650 includes transfer, all inclusive, luggage and flights) we can’t really complain! Originally we were meant to stay in Kaliakra Mare but got told it was closing early for the season. We got an upgrade after seeing the outside of the original hotel! The rooms were decent sized, walk in shower, double bed, single bed and a sofa bed, dressing table, wardrobes, safe, fridge (with free drinks) and a balcony. Only annoying thing is the plugs aren’t by the bed! I’m not sure what the other reviews are on about with the staff, we found them lovely. On arrival we were greeted with two plates off food as we arrived early hours of the morning. Which was really nice. Plenty of English was spoken, but for all that were complaining about the lack of English, gentle reminder we are in THEIR country so we shouldn’t expect them to speak it! The food was your standard all inclusive, but they mixed the dishes up on different nights. There’s a snack bar by the pool which was okay, same stuff everyday and a lot of food got left out and went dry or flies got to it. There was a beach bar, pool bar, inside bar and a bar in the restaurant. We did wish that the machines with cokes etc were accessible ourselves rather than having to wait for staff each time for a quick drink. The only complaint we have is there was one night they closed up early due to a different family causing havoc. I didn’t think it was very fair when we were there to enjoy ourselves. They should’ve stopped serving the other people not close it for everyone else. There are 2 main pools and 1 splash pool for children. It was a bit nippy but warmed up once you were in! One pool was closed I can imagine due to the time of year, however it was insanely quiet so bonus for not having to fight over pool chairs! The chairs were plastic so they weren’t very comfy to sit on however. This is no fault of the hotels but if you hate wasps don’t go here as we’ve never seen anything like it! Couldn’t relax as they just kept pestering everyone for their food or drinks! Entertainment wise we were a bit gutted by. There is a games room but you have to pay for arcade machines and the pool table, but the ping pong table was free. There seemed to be a bit on for kids but the adult entertainment was shocking. We were hoping for karaoke or music but there wasn’t any. We saw they had bingo on one night and there were like 4 elderly people there so we left. The biggest complaint we have wasn’t about the hotel but it is really relevant if you’re wanting to do more than stay in the hotel. The area was a complete and utter ghost town! There was one bar on the beach that had a selection of food, we went there once but it wasn’t cheap and we didn’t eat there as wasn’t much choice on the menu. We wanted to go back there Saturday night to do s

My husband and I decided to have an anniversary trip away just the two of us, as our son has just gone to uni. We were booked in at Hotel Mura and last minute were changed to Hotel Kaliakra. It was a great hotel, the rooms were a bit tired but big enough with everything you'd need and a sea view. There was a fridge in the room which had drinks in that were replenished most days. The bathroom had all the toiletries you could want including razors and shaving cream and toothbrushes and paste. The restaurant was excellent. Even though we were out of season and they weren't many people in the hotel, there was a great choice and everything was lovely. Even my vegetarian husband had plenty of choice. The outside was nicely kept, we often had the pool to ourselves. It was a bit too cool to use the pool but the sea was lovely - apart from the jelly fish. Staff were great particularly the bar and restaurant staff. We had an excellent holiday

What a find so happy with our experience and such friendly lovely staff! We found the bar staff receptionist everyone so nice to deal with I don’t understand the bad reviews as they were so kind and helpful. Hotel was nice & clean our room was not massive but the most comfy beds and pillows and we were able to sleep with the door open listening to the waves. The room bathroom and bedroom cleaned every day with clean towels. The barman made my two daughters fresh slush puppies all through the day. Huge choice of fresh hot food really tasty and the alcoholic drinks were branded and very strong so be careful as they are not watered down like some resorts. We hired a car from airport for only £40 for 5 days with so much east parking right outside hotel. Fresh beach towels, beach just metres from the hotel with comfy sunbeds and umbrellas all free! A very impressive hotel for what we paid certainly no complaints from us we would love to stay again. An ideal family break and lots of children’s play parks and local supermarkets but we stayed all inclusive so literally did not spend a penny!

Firstly the positives, the hotel itself is lovely and has everything you need for a fun family holiday. This is however completely ruined by the miserable mood of both the bar staff and hotel staff. On our first day I asked someone where I could refresh my towels, she looked me up and down, shrugged and walked off. My son is autistic so whilst eating in the buffet restaurant I give him a bit of freedom and independence and allowed him to get his own ice-cream, whilst watching him from my table less than a foot away. He is 6 years old. As he was picking up his ice cream a member of staff screamed and I mean SCREAMED at him for supposedly licking a spoon. I did not see him do this but even if he did, it does not warrant screaming at a 6 year old autistic child. I was obviously very taken aback at the level of aggression shown towards my son that I didn't even know what to say at the time. I complained at reception a bit later to which they said they would talk to staff, but nothing changed. Staff do not engage, they can't even seem to smile. It seems that complaints about the attitudes of staff here go back a long way, trust me nothing is going to change. They simply don't care. When you are on holiday trying to have a nice time and you are met with hostility at every turn it makes it really hard to enjoy your stay and to be honest I felt pretty unsafe and uncomfortable here. Albena is a lovely place, beaches are amazing. Just a shame we had to come back to hotel kaliakra every night.

Everything started badly with two hours of waiting at Negru Voda customs at 38 degrees Celsius, we thank Austria for welcoming us to Schengen. I have been to this hotel many times in the past, the last time was 8 years ago, I stayed at both the superior and the standard, so I can make a comparison. As news, the hotel seems to need a thorough renovation with great attention to detail, more precisely broken windows hanging on the floor, the total lack of sound insulation, in the bathrooms there are various super dirty and outdated things like the lever to draw water in the toilet, holes through the ceiling in the area of the spotlights, the safe is being dismantled, the sockets were hanging. As for cleaning services, this is done only on the surface, as you can see in the pictures, behind the curtains, behind the sofas, under the beds, in the balcony, cleaning is done I think once a season, I found a bra left by others behind the curtain guests and old cobwebs. In 9 days, I had to change the linen and towels almost every day. The room is otherwise ok, quite big, although the hotel was renovated a few years ago, everything was still functional The bathrooms in the reception are always clogged, two out of three, in the bathroom at the disaster pool, the urinals are made at a height for people of 1.90 m, for children there is no problem. The food is relatively good, quite varied, but not like it used to be, there are problems for example with pancakes in the morning, you wait 15 minutes to get 2 pancakes, at lunch or in the evening the queue for steak or potatoes, refills were made quite often . There was enough fruit, cakes ok, drinks ok. There is a need for more staff to be employed . At the pool, pizza is actually a piece of bread with something on it, not like it used to be, for snacks only what is left from the morning, ice cream, juice, coffee. At the bar by the pool, a business man who listens to good music, only he has a lot of money and asks for tips non-stop. One evening the young people at the bar were in the mood for a show and made noise with the music sometimes loud, sometimes soft until after 11 o'clock, otherwise it was acceptable. At the bar on the waterfront and at the reception, everything was ok. The beach is good with fine sand, it's a pity that it is full of cigarette butts, although there is a no smoking sign at the entrance, at least out of respect for the rest they could use a glass as an ashtray. Watch out for the birds, don't leave food on the deckchair, you won't find it again. Unfortunately, although the first two rows are paid, the next 4-5 rows are full of towels from 8 am (about 250 seats), but there is no one on the beach. The resort is nice, more pensioners, as we like it, quiet, unfortunately the upper area is quite dirty, too bad, it was super nice to set up a tourist path to take down what you ate. My child was scolded by a saleswoman as if she had done I don't know what with a product, although she d
