Hotel Costasol

Almeria|0.31km from city center
Stayed at Costasol for a week when in Almeria & the location is really superb, with easy access to shops & dining options in town as well as major sights and the beach. It was really easy to get to via bus 30 from the airport & a short walk from the Ramblas. We got there before 2 & could leave our bags before checking in after 2. The room was nice and spacious with ample storage space & bathroom was a good size as well (& we love the smell of the toiletries!). It also felt really clean & was refreshed daily. The room had a window facing the main road so it was nice to look out and see the activity, including the Pride parade over the weekend! There is a fridge in the room which was really handy. We didn't have breakfast at the hotel as it was more than €8 per person and there were alot of dining options near the hotel. The dining room was really cute, as it's made up like a library. Staff were helpful though we did get directed to a wrong shop for bike hire - Bike King which only sold rather than hired out bikes! We slept with the windows open as we prefer fresh air to air conditioning. One drawback with doing this was the noise from the street - people, traffic & the street cleaner which seemed to be operating at all hours! We got used to this though so weren't prevented from sleeping. A negative aspect of the hotel is the housekeeping which was hit and miss. We only got bottled water on the first day (staff at reception mentioned bottled water when we asked if tap water was drinkable) & on the second day we managed to catch the cleaner who gave us 3 bottles when she realised she hadn't left any in the room. After the first day we decided to buy our own water as we couldn't be sure it would always be available. It would be better for the hotel to have a water cooler so guests can just help themselves rather than have multiple bottles of water which isn't great for the environment. Soap was not always replenished nor was the toilet paper. The lock on the room door is the old style key lock, rather than a key card lock so it didn't feel particularly secure. There was another key on the key ring which we assume was for the safe but the latter didn't work as there was a hole where the lock should have been. Once, we asked for the shower gel & shampoo to be topped up as it was getting low, but staff only replenished that & not the soap at the sink which was also getting low. Other than these *******, we found the hotel very good for our needs & wouldn't hesitate to return if we visit Almeria again in future!

Hotel Cabogata Jardin

Almeria
After a pretty hectic couple of months, I decided to book a solo trip to Spain and after some searching, this hotel was the best price. However, I now understand why the hotel was such a low cost and TUI listing the hotel as 4* is laughable. Some aspects of the hotel are lovely (my room was nice and modern and the pool area is really nice) but everything else is bang average. The staff’s downright unpleasantness and hostility to English people is also something that I need to mention. During this week stay I have lost count of the amount of times that I have been completely blanked by members of staff when trying to order food and drink to a point where I’ve had to get up from my table and walk over to the bar area so they physically cannot ignore me. Spanish people, however, are served at their tables and quite clearly treated a lot better. I have worked in customer service roles my whole working life, and know for a fact that it is not difficult to be nice to people - Particularly people like me who are clearly travelling on their own. Another absolutely mental thing that just happened was that a short time before me typing this, I returned to my sun bed after popping to the toilet (I was gone for a max of ten mins.) on my sun bed was a note warning me not to leave my belongings or else the staff have a right to remove them if they are getting in the way of other guests??? Literally all of the beds around me bar one are completely empty!! I have been on a sun bed in the same area all week so the staff know that I get here early and stay here all day, so to receive this note is frankly quite nasty and underhanded. What would you like me to do, wee in the pool??? I have attached photos to this review showing the note as well as the empty beds around me. Overall, weather has been fab and it’s been lovely to have a relaxing break away. I wish, however, that I’d booked the Barcelo next door instead. Do better Cabogata Jardin.

Last weekend we were in Almería and we stayed at the Torreluz apartments because they had a kitchen and my daughter has severe food allergies, which almost no hotel establishment takes into consideration so that she can enjoy a restaurant meal. Upon arrival at the apartment, the only utensils available were glasses, a pan with a lid and a serving spatula, there were no cutlery, plates or a basic kit to wash the pan. When booking on the day, I explained the medical circumstances of the girl and they told me that I did not have to pay for breakfast since I was not going to consume it. When we went down to the hotel for breakfast, I myself brought her bread, cookies, milk, fruit, cold cuts, etc. In order for her to 'participate in the breakfast buffet', we gave her a glass of juice and immediately a lady from the dining room came up to tell us that if the girl consumed we had to pay (she even asked what the circumstances were). Of course, I explained the situation to him, I showed him the tupperware and the fridge with his food and at the exit I offered to pay for his breakfast, but they told me that it was not necessary. I just want to appeal to the sensitivity of the people who serve the public in these very special situations, which are not fashion or whim, and especially when they affect children, who are quite unfortunate because the hospitality industry does not serve them. It had never happened to me before and my daughter is 9 years old. I have always explained to him that his illness cannot be a limitation to travel or enjoy leisure in company. Unbelievable apartments for the price. Stayed here for two separate nights in two different apartments. They are suites really and the ones we booked had separate kitchen, lounge and bedroom. Amazing value for the price - cheaper than most local hotels and right in the centre of Almeria. Amazing.

We were only staying in Almeria for 1 night on a road trip. You absolutely cannot beat this location. It is right in the middle of everything. It was under a 10 minute walk to the Alcazaba. Parking is in a parking garage about 2 blocks away and it was about $20. The hotel has an elevator. Our room was nice that it had 4 single beds and the bathroom was very modern. I would have rated this hotel as absolutely exceptional if the A/C worked better. That was our only problem - our room was warm. After spending the day walking around in the heat, I could have used a cooler room. In the morning there is a typical breakfast of lunch meats, cheese, fruit & breads.

I stayed at this hotel for one night because I needed a place to sleep in a road trip I was doing through the south of Spain. Although the hotel matched the expectations, it isn’t the best of hotels. The staff is not incredibly nice, the hotel looked relatively old, the breakfast had its food in individual servings and had low variety, and the hotel was poorly located, away from the beach and the city center. Overall, it’s a hotel that suffices the need to a quick stay before departing again.

Loved my time at this hotel. The location couldn't be more perfect for my needs. I loved swimming in the pool which never got that crowded and sometimes I was the only one so had it to myself. It was interesting watching the ferries in the port across the road from the room balcony. The beach wasn't far to walk maybe 10 minutes along the promenade and I had a great time jumping the waves. The little tourist train stop is nearby which takes you all around town and by the castle. The bridge attraction, park squares, art museum, restaurants and shops are all on the doorstep. The hotel staff are very friendly, helpful and efficient and helped me with some scanning. You can hire a kettle and iron for your stay. The buffet breakfast is nice and has all your usual items, you can have your eggs made to order. They also have snacks and icecreams you can have in the bar all day. I loved my room it was calm and peaceful on the 6th floor. I had the best sleep and didn't wake in the night , better than at home. The beds are comfortable. There is air con in the room so it was nice to come back to for a little siesta. The rooms are big and the beds. There is a big cupboard and a few drawers for your things. The bathroom was nice with a bath, shower and some useful toiletries. The hotel had a nice atmosphere and I am looking forward already to coming back next year !

The hotel is located in the old town of Almería, you can park at the hotel for 15 euros, or drive out of the old town to find a parking space. The hotel rooms are average and comfortable. The breakfast buffet was the highlight, with a wide variety and great capsule coffee.
