I stayed at Hotel Atlanta, Amsterdam (Rembrandtplein 8) from 27–28 June 2026, and unfortunately, this was one of the worst hotel experiences I have ever had. Despite the attractive photos shown online, the reality was completely different. I strongly encourage future travelers to look beyond the promotional pictures before making a booking. My biggest concern was guest safety. In my opinion, the hotel lacks several basic safety considerations that guests would normally expect. I did not feel comfortable staying there. Some of the major issues I experienced were: There was no lift/elevator, and I had to carry all of my heavy luggage from the ground floor to the 4th floor by myself. The staff were unhelpful, uncooperative, and unprofessional when assistance was requested. The overall condition of the hotel felt neglected and poorly managed. The actual hotel was very different from what was portrayed in the online photographs. Amsterdam is one of the most beautiful cities in Europe, but unfortunately this hotel did not reflect the high standards that visitors would expect. I will be attaching actual photographs of the hotel so that other travelers can make an informed decision before booking. Based on my personal experience, I would not recommend staying at Hotel Atlanta and would advise travelers to carefully read recent reviews and inspect guest photos before making a reservation. I sincerely hope the management takes guest safety, accessibility, and customer service much more seriously in the future.

The hotel's excellent location is probably its only redeeming quality. My room's windows faced walls and a roof. The TV didn't work, and there was no kettle in the room; hot water came with a charge. The room hasn't been renovated in ages – the wallpaper is peeling, and there's a thick layer of dust everywhere.

We arrived for check-in and the staff were polite. We were charged about £138 a night for what I would say is a £60-70 a night hotel at most. We were given a room on the first floor next to the reception, breakfast area and stairs. The walls were very thin meaning we could hear people talking in the reception and breakfast are while in bed. We could hear everything sound by the room next to us and the floors were wooden so we constantly could hear footsteps from the room above. As the stairs were steep we could hear people stomp up and down the stairs. The building also got very warm so we wanted to open the window but this opened into a small space between rooms where air extracts were going to meaning there was no fresh air and it was completely covered in bird excrement. The bed was okay but not very comfortable. The bathroom had very obvious DIY to it. The shower head was very low down and the water temperature constantly changed. You could only hang your hand towel directly over and touching the bin or the toilet brush. The only place to hang your shower towels was on the clothes hangers and we noticed these had been taken down and folded as if they were new towels. There were lots of signs warning about charges for damage however the room was not in a good condition when we arrived, e.g. wallpaper ruffled, fixings loose, curtains catching on the rail, the hairdryer smelled when using. The location was great and staff okay but the hotel itself is not worth the inflated cost.

The breakfast kinda sucks, there is literally nothing to eat and it sure isnt worth the additional 15 euros. The room was clearly old ant not very well mantained. Service was nice

The location is great. The room has all basics you need to rest at the end of the busy day. The worst was the shared toilet which was so tiny that you can barely close door with your knees touching the door. If you are a bit bigger in size, you won’t be able to fit.  The stairs are very steep and small, so it is tricky to go up or down the stairs especially if you are carrying luggage. E The location is very good with many restaurants and bars located just next to the hotel. However, it is getting really noisy in the evening even if your room is at the back of the hotel.

Except for the woman at the counter front desk, who shouted at us for ringing the bell in our first night because we didn’t understand how to open the front door with our key. Apparently, touching one button was enough for her to be rude with us. We were not surprised to be honest because during checking she was also very disrespectful to us. She needs to learn how to work at the hospitality service.

The hotel is very well located, and the staff are welcoming. My only minor quibble is that the pigeons can wake you up at dawn.

The location is spectacular, and the room itself was fine. The downsides: As I'd seen in other comments, the stairs are very steep. The room they gave me didn't have a double bed; it was two small beds pushed together, which was a bit uncomfortable for a couple. Also, the noise from outside is very loud. I was able to sleep, but if you're someone who struggles to fall asleep, I wouldn't recommend it because you can hear everything, and there are kids screaming outside at all hours of the night. The hotel reception was good.
