Hostel Cosmos Amsterdam

Worst ever experience here even they don't provide towels.

I recommend this hostel if you come to Amsterdam. It is located in an area close to all public transportation, the museums, walking distance to Amsterdam Central. The staff are very accommodating, knowledgeable, and friendly. The rooms are great.

We felt extremely unsafe here to the point that we left before even staying for a full night. The hostel rules were not enforced or respected. After we told the hostel staff that, they still didn't give a refund or discount. Also, it was very dirty—I found hair on my pillow, and the bathrooms were not kept clean.

The experience was awfull, my bed wasnt done and had leftovers of food when we arrived that morning with my friends, I talked with the recepcionist that if it can be cleaned after our city tour but when we arrived it wasnt. At least she gave me new sheets. I travelled with a large suit case and because the hotel have many stairs was an odissey to get into my room. Finally when we departure earlier, the only thing to say for the receptionist was sorry and that this is the only tool for complaining

Good things: -Staff is very nice, Wifi is working well. -Hostel itself is not loud and noisy. Bad things: -There should be more bathrooms, we were always waiting kong time for a toilet. Bathrooms are really tiny, not so clean, the shower doors are broken. - Common area is too small, almost non-existent, there should be a bigger room for that. - Rooms are not spacious, same goes for lockers. - There were no ladders in our room, so we needed to climb to get on top of the bunk bed and jump back down every time. Overall, we had a pretty bad experience. We booked the 4 people room and were put in the room with a person who apparently lives in the hostel. This person was being extremely rude to the other roommate who was there, inconsiderate, and also argued very loudly over the phone every night, which made us feel uncomfortable. We couldn't really relax in the room and felt like he's going to snap if we turn on the light in the morning when we are leaving the room etc. Even though the staff of the hostel is very nice and warm, they should probably be more aware of things like that and also do something about it. The beds were okay though, if there was no drama in our room we would probably sleep very well.
