Hotel Van Gelder

Staffs are friendly and helpful. Location very good. Next to Main Street and Near to train station. The downside was a bit noisy. Overall stay is 👍👍

Very good location which is near to Amsterdam centraal. Friendly receptionists. The only thing probably I dislike is the staircase. A couple of times I almost fall. And it’s so hard to move up and down my luggage as the stairs is so steep and narrow. Not suitable for elderly or people carrying too many or heavy luggage.

Stay in the Superior Single Room. Cleanliness and room condition was better than I had expected. Host attitude was neutral. Location was superb and convenient too all essential services including shopping, food, pharmacy. Only the stairs leading up to the room was the steepest ever i’ve come across. Good luck if you stay on the 4 floor. I stay on the 3rd.

I arrived at like midnight but luckily there’s someone at the reception 24/7. The hotel is at an excellent location, it was ok to push my suitcase over from Amsterdam central station, I think it took 10minutes yet I was shocked to see the very steep staircase because I had a 26” 22kgs big suitcase with me, along with a 7 kgs hand card travel bag, 6kgs backpack. There’s absolute no way I’d be able to carry all that up stairs without tumbling down and getting injured before I could reach the reception desk. Thankfully, the male staff who work at the front desk were all nice and willing to help, ie 1st time for bringing all my baggage from the bottom of the steps at the entrance up to my room during which we encountered even more steep stairs to reach the room; 2nd time was when I had to check out, I left my suitcase outside the room and needed staff to help me bring it down to the reception storage; 3rd time was from reception down to the bottom at the entrance, otherwise I would not have able to stay at the hotel with all my bulky and heavy baggages. It’s an old hotel so soundproofing maybe a bit of a problem, like I could hear floor boards creaking but it’s bearable and I had a good sleep. I had bit of a hard time finding my room, it felt like a maze in a boat or an anthill, but staff showed me the way to my room. The view outside the window was wonderful, Van Gogh museum and rijksmuseum were within walking distances like under 40 minutes. It’d be even if they provided a water kettle, but I was happy that they actually have tv and air con! I’d stay here again, just that I better not bring a big suitcase next time. Thank you to the 3 staff I encountered on October 10th and 11th!

Great location clean and basic everything you need but the stairs to the rooms were not for the faint hearted, walls were as thin as paper could hear the guys next door every move and be ready for the cleaners door knocking reminding you that its checkout day even with an hour and a half to go

Looked recently remodeled. Very clean, Staff very friendly.
