Santa Marina Hotel

The staff from the hotel were very nice and friendly no problem there what so ever. The reason I'm giving it a 2 star rating is because the interior around the hotel and in the rooms is old and is need of a serious revamp. Wardrobes, flooring, curtains, ac, fridge and bathroom all need an upgrade. The fridge smelt horrible, the curtains date back to the 80's, the bathroom is mouldy and is so humid you come out sweating so much straight after a shower. The windows in the room are nailed shut for some strange reason so you can't get fresh air inside the room, if you open the balcony door the ac switches off. When you leave your room and take the key card with you all the electric in the room switches off including the fridge. The food in the hotel is really below par and not up to standard. It is cheap and basic. The water in the cooler is warm, the fruit juice's taste horrible, the tea and coffee is bad. The good thing about this hotel is its location, the beach is around the corner and the shops are close by.

We’ve really enjoyed our stay at Santa marina Clean good location & friendly staff We arrived late in the evening but check in was quick and efficient we had a nice double room with fridge and it was clean we asked for 2 more pillows and a chair for balcony which were provided quickly Breakfast is plentiful cereal salad cheeses meat eggs etc and tea coffee juice water We would return the location is good 3 minutes walk to the beach lots of green spaces and parks for children if you had them and exercise equipment lots of local shops The area itself is expensive for drinks in restaurants but meals out aren’t takeaway is very cheap drinks from shops are less than uk prices

One of the worst places ive been, ever! First off. Our flight was late on, left Gatwick airport at 8.pm. arived at the hotel about 1.30am their time, later than we had hoped, due to delays. We were greeted with "your late im waiting". After checking in we were given our keycard and found our room, we only had 2 very flat very hard pillows so i asked for 2 more, was told to wait untill the morning. I tried for 3 days asking for 2 pillows, after 5 times of asking we got them. The bed was absolutely solid. Close to sleeping on the floor its that hard, the AC didn't do to much other than making us both ill, checking the filters on it they are completely cloged up with dust. The first morning we tried the food. Breakfast. It was awful, everything sat out no covers, flys all over it, not even canteen food. The best thing was prob some bits of bread. The swimming pool burnt our skin there was so much chlorine in it. Your could smell it, moreso than a normal pool, we had to go shower of to stop the burning, some pool kids got it in their eyes. The outdoor shower floor was just full of slimy moss never been cleaned by the looks of it. There is no outdoor bar like described on 'on the beach' nor is there a snack bar. There is a lobby bar, with several bottles of alcohol like vodka, rum, and gin, others too, we aksed for a drink to be told we are not allowed that stuff, all we can have is beer, wine and fizzy. The beer was warm and flat and you could only have half a can at a time. Everything was dirty. The bedside draws were moldy and stained. The bathroom was horrible, silicone was black with mold shower wasnt attached properly to the wall. Toilet didnt work all the time, soap dispensers for the shower, First of didnt have much in there, what was there was cloudy and smelt horrible, and had a plastic wrapper in one. The drain in the floor was completely cloged and the tap was so dirty. The wardrobe with the fridge in it, the handle was falling off. There was a plug socket half out the wall. The lighting in the room is terrible with only a hallway light, and not a whole room light.
