Carlton Madagascar is Carlton.

Service: I have never seen such a bad hotel service. It is the worst, the worst, too bad. Service: The service attitude of the manager Datang is even worse. A woman is very bad. Environment: I am annoyed by them every day in this hotel.

It was a wonderful hotel where you could feel the hospitality. I was touched by the fresh flowers and a welcome letter from the hotel in the room.

I was on a business trip during the Chinese New Year and chose a chain hotel. However, the room facilities were very old. The address was quite good, in the city center. The hotel front desk service was OK and quite enthusiastic, but the breakfast service was really average. There were three of us in the group, and the bill for those who ate more breakfast was more expensive than those who ate less. They couldn't give me the details when asked.

From the outside this hotel might not look overly impressive, but never judge a book by the cover and I’ll be staying again on any future visit to the city. The whole property has a traditional luxury vibe, which might feel dated to some, but it’s somewhat in keeping with the location. Checking in was a lovely experience and all the staff are friendly, offering and help and advice for the city. My room was very spacious with great views over the north of the city. A huge very comfortable bed with charging sockets and armchairs added to the comfort and bottled water was provided. While there was a good selection of drinks and snacks in the mini bar, there was no bottle opener for the drinks, nor indeed an iron which was disappointing for such a high end hotel. The bathroom, while feeling a bit dated, was very clean and had lots of storage space along with all the amenities you would expect. The shower over the bath was decent and with the good quality towels hard to find cause to complain. Housekeeping did a great job and were really friendly whenever you encountered them, which reinforced the really welcoming sense the hotel gives. There’s a nice outdoor pool area complete with a bar, but with the poor weather it all remained closed with no one using it during my stay, but it does look a great space. Breakfast is served in a bit of a basic space, and rather than a buffet you tick your selection on a small paper menu and it’s cooked to order. While a nice concept, access to some self-serve drinks or pastries would have been great. Again though, the staff are lovely. The bar in the lobby is a great space to relax in an evening. There’s a decent food menu and range of drinks, although nothing on draft when I was there. Prices were reasonable and whether you’re on your own or in a group there’s good seating options, along with a small terrace outside. If ever I’m in the city again I’ll certainly stay here again, and if traditional luxury is what you like then it’s great.

I’m writing this review about my stay at this hotel when it was still known as the Hilton. In 1979 my Dad was posted to Madagascar to work on a Hydro power project. He travelled to the worksite during the week while my Mum, sisters and I stayed at the Hilton for a while before finding an apartment in Tana. I can’t remember how long we stayed but in my memory it seems liked months. I remember fondly exploring the grounds, eating in the restaurant everyday (frog legs were a favourite) and looking for treasures like silk flowers that were left behind after a big weddings in the reception hall. We never had complaints about insects and the food was good..except once, on my birthday the manager of the hotel asked what I would like the chef to make for me and I grinned and said Yorkshire pudding. They produced very good French cuisine but the Chef was baffled when it came to the Yorkshire pud and although he tried hard the texture left a lot to be desired. We eventually moved to the Andekaleka in the jungle and in 1982 we left to head back to the west after the job was completed. I’d love to see some photos of the hotel dating back to the 1970 if there are any.

This is a 5 star property with excellent service, nice and very clean room, a wonderful pool and the best massage I have ever received, the restaurants were great....I loved my stay here and highly recommend it.

It is an excellent hotel. First-class service, impeccable rooms, excellent attention from all the staff. It has a large pool, a restaurant in that area with delicious food. The cleanliness of the rooms is clear. I recommend it!

I visited on a tour. I stayed for two nights, with an interval between each night, and it was the only urban hotel I stayed at on this trip, so it felt quite fresh. The title says Hilton, but it's now Carlton. It seems to have been bought out. This hotel is located on the shores of Lake Annecy (across the road) near the center of the capital, and is a high-rise hotel (apparently once the tallest in the country), which is rare for Antananarivo. At night, you can see the Queen's Palace lit up in the three colors of the national flag on the hill across the lake (which is more like a large pond). There were no problems with the facilities in the room. There was even a hair dryer. Shortly after entering the room, a female staff member came to hand out some cutely wrapped chocolates. This was my first experience at a hotel overseas. Breakfast was served in a restaurant facing the courtyard with the pool. When I went out to this courtyard in the morning, I enjoyed seeing many kinds of wild birds. The Wi-Fi worked well. (I also had connections at other hotels, but it was definitely the best connection in the country.

After trying several restaurants in the city we ended up understanding that the best was here, that is to say at the Carlton. Throughout our stay, we fully enjoyed the delicious and varied dishes of chef Sebastien Schipman. Each is to be recommended. Thanks also to the reception staff at the entrance and the quality of the massages.

Parfaitement placé à côté du Palais présidentiel, cet hôtel dispose d un charme particulier. Il n est pas à proprement parler dernier cri car son charme se situe ailleurs. Des chambres spacieuses, de grandes salles de bain avec une belle vue sur lac et ville. Un personnel extrêmement agréable vous soigne toute la journée. En outre le restaurant est excellent avec des spécialités locales ou de des plats plus classiques avec un bon rapport qualité prix. J ajoute que la liaison wifi fonctionne très bien avec un débit important. Un bel endroit pour se détendre après le tumulte de la grande ville.

Ottimo hotel; camere confortevoli e servizio impeccabile. Buona la colazione, così come il ristorante. Siamo stati a nostro agio.
