Booking process and welcome by Paul was exemplary. It's clear to see that Paul is an experienced hotelier and very skilled at making sure you have all you need on your holiday. The apartment was spacious, well equipped and spotlessly clean. We stayed in room 8 and enjoyed superb views of the Moray Firth toward the Black Isle. There was milk, coffee and tea and Tunnocks tea cakes in our welcome pack, a kind thought. Ardessier (Ar-dess-ier) is a small village but does have some amenities, we found the R.S McColl shop very handy. There are two pubs - one that has wood fired pizzas on Friday night. There is a fish and chip van that calls on a Tuesday - it must be ok as the locals were tucking in their takeaway on the picnic tables at the bay. The bay itself is 2.5 k long with a flat wide path alongside the beach. Good for a morning or evening stroll. There are a variety of seabirds, including Razor Bills, Curlew, Oystercatchers and Black Guillemot, and one of our neighbours had spotted an otter! The Dolphins were showing at Chanonry Point on the Black Isle and the best time is between an hour before high tide and two hours after high tide.. It's a Pay and Display site and busy so get there in plenty of time. There is a nice bakery in Fortrose a little further on towards Cromarty and a great like cafe that serves good meals at Rosemarkie. Other things worth seeing, the beach at Nairn (good beach cafe that serves things like Thai fish soup!) Cawdor Castle (lovely gardens) Culloden Battlefield and little harbours such as Burghead (the Bothy is a great restaurant). We missed out on Findhorn and a whiskey tour. Next time! We drove around Loch Ness, and no doubt it's impressive, our tip is to do it by boat. You don't see much by car, it's just a green tunnel! Uruqhart Castle is worth a visit.
