We had a wonderful stay in this very special hotel. Everything about the stay was great. Our room was very nice with very comfortable separate beds (cell 34). The staff was VERY helpful and friendly during our entire stay. The home-made breakfast was delicious. The hotel is close to the city center, and when we used the "Glassheisen", as recommended by the staff, we could get back and forth very quickly. In our opinion, the way the prison has been renovated and turned into a hotel, is very well done. It has the comforts of a hotel, and all the new interior elements (furniture, plants, curtains, paintings) are elegant but in a style that does not distract from the feeling of being in a former prison. It is possible to walk around and look at everything from the old prison. All in all a great balance between authenticity and comfort. Some of the practical details that we appreciated: Showers and extra toilets on the same floor as the room, a fridge in the hallway that we could use, heater + fan in our room, coffee/tea making facilities. Everything is tidy and clean. One of us joined a guided tour of the prison, which was very interesting and made a lasting impression. If you stay at the prison hotel, you should not miss this. Highly recommended!

I would say the place is a thematic hostel with a historic background. Super cool. The location is excellent. The breakfast was a VIP service (upon request) but has room for improvement. The bed was very comfortable. Audun was extremely welcoming, kind and service minded!

Spændende og anderledes overnatning
Meget anderledes at overnatte i et tidligere fængsel, men det var rigtig godt. Man kunne færdes i stort set hele fængslet og få et indtryk af, hvordan det var at være indsat der inden fængslet lukkede. Der var pænt og rent, og gode muligheder for underholdning, både i kælderen med bl.a. bordtennis og en arkademaskine, og ovenpå i biblioteket med diverse brætspil. Super hjælpsomt og flinkt personale. Selve byen, som er en lille havneby, er rigtig hyggelig, og i gåafstand fra hotellet (ca 10 min.)
Helt klart et sted (og by) vi kan anbefale at bruge et par dage på.

Una prigione riconvertita in hotel .La possibilita' di visitare la struttura accompagnati da Audun che spiega come si viveva li' dentro quando era a regime. Colazione base e possibilita' di comprare semplici snack alla reception.
