Good hostel with a great location. Active social environment, pool
Table and entry lounge at times bustling.
I rated service, cleanliness and amenities as medium in a general sense, but were very good with the hostel lens on.
Location was great for food, bars, logistics.
I stayed several days here in a private room w/ shared bath after arriving in NZ to serve as a shopping and generally prepare location for a long walk- it was perfect for that!!

Good location but feel not safe in this area, dark. Close to Wilson parking charge 13nzd after 5 p.m.to 7 a.m.

We had a delay in our flight and arrived in unmanned hours unfortunately our internet wasn’t working and didn’t have the email with the lock box instructions. James the receptionist was leaving and saw us. He was very kind and helpful staying to help even though his shift had finished.
The hostel needs some updating and a lock of paint but overall pretty good, comfy bed, hot shower. Can’t complain.
I did miss the bit about taking sheets off and leaving them downstairs after dropping my key in the drop box - sorry.

When we arrived at the check-in area at 11 o'clock, the front desk said that they had sent an email to notify us that we would need to send our passport photos at 20 o'clock. I checked the email and it was sent at 20:00. I was driving and didn’t pay attention to the email. I asked the staff if I could check in. The staff said that I couldn't check in without a passport photo before 20 o'clock. I'm confused, can't I give you your passport on the spot? Who knows if you send an email? Can't you make a phone call? I saw everyone in person, but the staff said that it would not be allowed after 20 o'clock. Impressed
