DoubleTree Suites by Hilton Hotel Austin

The room was renovated but had several issues. 1) dim lighting in living areas. No lamp or reading light in the bedroom on the nightstands; 2) a large work desk but bo overhead lighting or lamp to allow user to see what they are writing;) 3) TV set in bedroom would after a while go blank or have a squiggly screen—losing the picture; 4) all outlets were low to the ground and/to behind nightstands. Should have desk or nightstand level outlets; 5) very expensive valet parking rates; 6) coffee bar had only 1 caffeinated coffee pod.

Excellent property, uninformed prior to arrival of lobby construction. Extremely noisy during working hours. Dine in only. TV extremely poor channel reception. Over all great property close to State Capitol and University.

No free WiFi unless you join their honors program and No complimentary water bottle, you have to pay for it.

One night stay in Austin so wanted to stay close to UT campus…about a mile away. Room was nice found out at checkin there is only valet parking. Then found it was over $55 per night with tax. And they encouraged you to tip 8.65 for one night. I don’t begrudge the workers—not their fault. But $55 per nite. You could at least note that when we reserve a room and let the customer decide if it’s worth it. I probably would not book again

Terrible expertience. The Safebox, phone, and the pool doesn't work They don't even clean my room No room service for breakfast or lunch. Really bad experience.

The hotel is completing renovations and we supposedly stayed in a renovated room, but just what has been renovated on every floor isn’t evident by the same tile floors in the bathroom (with aged, worn grout), or the same cast iron bathtub (without rejuvenated grout), though the building’s entry was getting new tile while we were there. Apparently the renovations are cosmetic though the new fluorescent lighting surrounding the bathroom mirror is awful and the re-facing of the elevator banks makes the area incredibly dark, making you wonder at the decisions about what constitutes an upgrade! Curious that the lamps do not include outlets or USB ports and our outlet by the bedside table didn’t work (discovered after 12 hours of attempting to charge a phone), items one might expect to be addressed during a “renovation”. We enjoyed very reasonable rates, however, and if Doubletree intends to keep those (vs only having discounted them during construction), it will solidify its merit as a top notch hotel, but once rates jump to their typical level there are less tired places to spend that kind of money. The kitchenette, dining table/desk are excellent features for longer stays as is the suite arrangement with a separate sitting area and pull-out sofa. The location is awesome, close enough and yet well distanced from the madding crowds (and sketchy populous) of the 6th street environs.
