This place was alright. A local friend picked this place for us, saying it was "simple but has nice views." That was a fair take on the place, but there were a number of things I wish I had known ahead of time. The biggest issue for me was how much work was required to reach said views. I wasn't ready to climb 187* steps to my room at the end of a long day of outdoors activity (*I don't remember the exact number, but it seems representative of the scale we're talking about). The staff welcomed us on the beach the first day, which was immensely appreciated, and drove our luggage up to our room via their own private road, but *we* had to climb on our own. And if you're coming from the beach and are wearing flip flops, you'll find that to be a dangerous choice. On one of our excursions, we passed by on a boat and I snapped a picture of the place. On that picture, the red rooftop is where the office and restaurant are located, and the bungalows above are where the rooms were -- so you can appreciate the elevation. Our room itself was indeed "simple." There was a damp smell that we more or less eliminated once we turned on the AC. There was a gap under the door so there was always the chance of bugs coming in. The bathroom wasn't the cleanest, but it was big enough to ignore the insects that lived there. Bring your own shampoo and shower gel, as there wasn't any there. The beds were okay. The balcony itself, we only used to dry our sweaty clothes. Between us and the bungalows nearby, there was a communal spot with plastic cups and water (at room temperature) that we could help ourselves to, so that was a nice touch. Lots of interesting bugs to study at night, which was rather exciting. Bring a flashlight or use your phone at night because parts of the path aren't lit. The staff was very welcoming, very helpful, and very accommodating. They gladly let us leave our luggage behind while we spent a night in Corcovado and didn't charge us for that. There were just two bits of miscommunication. First, the manager told us he would be waiting for us at breakfast the next day to help direct us to our meeting point for our early morning tour, but he may have forgotten to show up. The second time, we thought we had everything sorted for checkout, but we were called back to finish settling the bill. Everyone was very pleasant, though. The restaurant had great food, but the service was so, so, so slow. The one night we had dinner there, it got so late that I ended up taking our kid back to our room (long way up in the dark) while my husband stayed behind to pay. We had dinner somewhere else after that. It's too bad because the people working there were lovely. At breakfast on our last day, a severely wounded dog that was probably a stray showed up seeking help, and the staff took care of the poor creature. We're more the kind of people who leave at dawn to go on adventures and come back exhausted in the evening just to shower and hit the bed. But if you'

A really great place, from the excellent management by Carlos and his team to the fantastic location on Drake Bay and the easy access to a wide range of tours walks and beaches. We had a wonderful time.

The place is nice and clean Food is good and breakfast as well However, considering the amenities included, it is rather expensive. The beach and water are not as inviting as on the pictures Staff is friendly

Overall, the hotel is very basic. We received a room without an ocean view, and there were no drying racks or any place to dry clothes at all, not even outside, which was inconvenient. The food itself was good, but the service was poor. Staff reacted slowly, and tables were often left uncleared — bottles and food were not removed for a long time. Overall, the stay was okay, but there are many better hotels.

Authentic, wonderful place in the middle of nature, with a great view! Few tourists in the area and you could walk the beaches of Drake Bay in peace and quiet all by yourself. Steep stairs leading to the hotel, I don't recommend it for the unfit. Claudio's grill down by the sea offered good food. Also, the service was good. The air conditioning in the hotel room didn't blow much cold, even though it was set to minimum, it felt stuffy at times :(. Also, the bed creaked every time you moved or turned your side. Otherwise, a perfect place to relax!

Nice friendly and helpful place - less up market than some places in Drake Bay, but rooms are good and possibly better value for money. Restaurant OK but not spectacular - also great views. Most rooms are up around 100 steps from the restaurant area, so you need to be prepared for a hot and humid walk up there, probably at least twice per day. Very nice views from the top though. On a quieter end of the beach, which was a relief on New Year's Eve when loud music was playing at a bar in the centre of town. Would probably stay there again if returning. The experience of getting to Drake Bay by boat and going to Corcovadoll itself (the latter arranged by the hotel) was amazing.

The hotel staff greeted us at the beach and picked up our luggage and we walked up to the hotel directly from the beach by waking up a short step of rocks, amazing experience right from the jump. The hotel is perched up right above the water with amazing views and the attached restaurant serves great food all day and evening long. We had some issues contacting the hotel prior to check in because the third party service we used had outdated contact information (Agoda) and when I finally got in touch with the owner via WhatsApp he was kind of enough to upgrade us to room 17, which we were told has the best view - and it was a great one. Brace yourself, it’s quite a few steep steps to get up to the rooms but the views and atmosphere make it well worth it. WiFi was strong and rooms are modest but clean and well maintained. Highly recommend taking the 25-30min hike from the hotel through the Forrest to Cocalito Besch, a true gem and unforgettable experience. We also saw some wildlife (monkeys, skunk, countless birds, lizards, around the property. We had a great time.

Hotel Jinetes was great! My husband and I came during the green season, the road had some damage from the heavy rain, and when we reached out to the owner for assistance, he was quick to respond. 4x4 were there in a jiffy to help us unload. Perched high on the hillside, the views were outstanding and the bungalow was terrific! We so enjoyed being in the jungle....the monkeys, toucans, macaws, frogs, lizards ..... it was just simply the best. The entire time we were there the service team was so attentive. They seemlessly helped set up excursions to Cano Island and Corcovado National Park, and our guides were incredibly knowledgeable the friendly. 2 of the best excursions of my lifetime. Gotta come see for yourself!

We truly enjoyed our stay! We had so many options for tours..and every one we took was outstanding. The staff helped us get the most out of our time in Osa. Every morning, we took our coffee out into the deck to watch the birds..got many birds ID with Merlin! We brought our 20 something kids and they loved it too

We are staying in this lovely hotel, but we have just arrived back from a 3 hour horseback tour (booked for us by the hotel), hot, weary and very very thirsty and have been told no cold drinks available until 12.pm - it’s 11am now. Not great! I know this is a simple hotel, but in this heat I think there should be cold drinks available all day!

We stayed for 7 nights in an upstairs level room,12, and it was perfect. Amazing ocean view with monkeys & Macaws stopping by. The room has a small fridge and there’s a kitchen just a few steps away. Ashley plans everything from tours to taxis and makes sure your vacation is perfect. The best restaurant, Claudio’s is downstairs and Kalahuna Bistro is a 5 minute walk. The location on the main hiking trail is convenient. We went fishing for 3 days, the National Park, Snorkeling, and a night tour with Traci and everything was exceptional. We did bring life straw cups since we are Americans and not used to their version of water.

This is a very nice hotel with air conditioning at a reasonable price. The Drake Bay Trail passes in front of this property. The staff is very helpful and makes sure your stay is a pleasant one. Some rooms are lower while others require going up a long path of stairs. The climb is worth it for the view and birds that can be seen up there. Rolando is an excellent guide.

This is a nice little hotel. In is a short walk on the southern edge of Drake Bay. Some rooms are along the hiking path that goes from Drake bay to San Jocesito Beach. There are other small beaches along the way. The nicest rooms are up the hill. This means going up the equivalent of several flights of cement stairs outside. Don’t worry, they will deliver your luggage, but you do need to be capable of the climb. They took very good care of us.
