The Hotel and its amenities were generally very good. Unfortunately, the reception and restaurant staff were quite indifferent and seemed to attend to other guests in a more warm manner.

Love this hotel. I will be back. Excellent service, food ,top class. Only disaapointing thing vwas the vbathroom. My friend was unable to showere due to the shower head being in the bath. The bath was too hight to step into. A walk in showe,r might sort this issue. Other than thar, i loved my stay there. Took a lovely walk around the grounds and the fairy trail was really nice. Definately coming back. Hightly recommeded.

The golf resort we stopped at on our last trip to Ireland. If the weather had been nice, we would have finished with a last round of golf, but unfortunately it rained. However, the staff were so kind and the atmosphere was so good that it more than made up for it. Dinner.. The meal at the classic course restaurant was great value for money. My husband and I, who drove a long way, leisurely emptied a bottle of wine.. Guinness at the live music bar.. The Irish people are so kind.. If the ending is good, everything is good~~😁

Decided just to stay for one night. Checked into room 738. Thank you to Justin, as we forgot to book dinner in CC restaurant and he organised it quickly. Love room 738. Cosy bed and a beautiful view. Dinner in the CC which we included in our package was excellent. Food is amazing. Jennifer the Restaurant Manager does a great job and looked after us so well. Thank you to Jaroslaw for excellent service. Nice too of Teresa to remember us from previous stays. Music in the bar was really good. Peaceful nights sleep. Breakfast in the CC was really good. Caroline looked after us very well. We finished our stay with a delicious meal in The Summit. We love to see Ivan, great service and a lovely relaxing afternoon with beautiful views. Loved to have stayed longer but unfortunately back to work! Thank you Tony and all The Slieve Russell team for another excellent relaxing stay. Hope to return soon.

We stayed in this beautiful hotel recently, we have stayed before and it hasn't changed- it's still an absolute gem. The Check-In We checked in online before we arrived, and upon arrival, we dropped our bags with the friendly concierge. We were told when the room would be ready and headed to the bar for lunch. The bar was busy, we ordered and the food was brought to us quickly. The lunch was very tasty and well presented. The Room It was spotless and well decorated, with views of the golf course. Our bags were in the room when we got to the room. The leisure centre and pool weren't too busy and again, just like the rest of the hotel- spotless. Every member of staff we encountered, was polite and greeted us. We had dinner in the Conall Cearnach, which was very busy. The service was very good and the food was even better. There was a nice atmosphere in the dining room, and again the staff were all polite. The only wait we had was for breakfast, but maybe 5 minutes, so this wasn't an issue. An extremely beautiful hotel, with food and rooms to match. We walked in the grounds and found walkways and small gardens around the hotel. Thank you SR for an amazing stay.

Booked for one night in room 632, The Oak Suite. Beautiful room with four poster bed and jacuzzi bath. Spotlessy clean, cosy and spacious. We had sandwiches and tea at lunch time in the bar, a girl supervisor served us and apologies I don't know her name, she deserves a mention as she was very friendly and looked after us quickly. Dined in the CC, excellent meal as always and attentive service. Ellie and her team looked after us very well. Enjoyed cocktails in the bar, great music on Friday night. Very enjoyable and entertaining. Slept so well in the lovely cosy bed. We decided to go to Setanta for breakfast. Again Ellie looked after us and the staff are a credit to her. Great breakfast and excellent service. My husband treated me to a spa treatment, I had a poultice massage which was really relaxing. Kayleigh was the lady I emailed requesting a treatment and she was prompt in her response. Not sure of the lady's name who did my treatment, she was very good. Before we went home we had lunch in The Summit. Again lovely food and excellent service. Beautiful views. Congratulations to Ivan on his promotion as Manager of The Summit. In all of our visits to The Slieve Russell, we love to see Ivan as he is so friendly and helpful. We sincerly wish Ivan best wishes in his new role. Thank you to all the team in the Slieve Russell for another very enjoyable stay. One of our favourite hotels, we return to time and time again. Keep up the excellent work!

I'll start this 5-star review with a few minor negatives - the internet connection is only sometimes fairly good but at many times snail's pace! The otherwise excellent Deluxe Twin bedroom cries out for a small chest of drawers so that you don't have to live out of a suitcase for a 3-night stay - a larger Fridge would also be nice 😉 However let me now list the many, overwhelming positives about our stay @ The SR. The grounds and the golf course are picture-perfect - a very well done to the gardeners and green-keepers. The Hotel - outside and inside - is in excellent condition. Our Deluxe Twin bedroom was spacious, neat and clean - and quiet. Common to all three Restaurants are attractive menus, excellent food and friendly and efficient service. The pool, sauna, steam room & jacuzzi are very good, although I found the pool area "glasshouse" a little on the hot and humid side. In summary - I felt really at home for my stay @ The SR. It's the best Spa Hotel that I have stayed at in Ireland!

A group of 30 friends and relatives stayed in the Slieve Russell hotel, Ballyconnell, Co Cavan for 2 weekend nights at the end of April for my mothers 90th birthday. Set in its own large grounds, which includes a golf course with walks for your ration of fresh air and exercise if wanted. The Cuilcagh boardwalk/Stairway to Heaven is a short drive away for the more adventurous. Some of us did it, tough but worth it! There's also a pool, jacuzzi, sauna, steamroom and fully equipped fitness suite. The Deluxe rooms were decorated in calming and relaxing colours with very spacious bathrooms. The beds were something else, I've never had such a comfortable night sleep in a hotel like it!! Despite there being many functions on in the hotel on the same weekend from weddings Friday and Saturday to a golf group and another birthday party never once did we feel we weren't receiving 100% care and attention. With my previous experience in hotels/hospitality I have to say the Slieve Russell hotel is extremely well run. All 30 of us had a brilliant time, the surroundings inside and outside are beautiful. The food and service was excellent. Every single staff member we encountered was friendly and helpful, from the Receptionists, housekeeping staff, bar staff and waiting staff. A special mention to Brian and Jennifer in the Conall Cearnach restaurant for their extra special care and attention. I must also mention Bridie Gallagher who I dealt with in organising this event, she was professional and helpful in all my dealings with her. She was especially helpful with suggestions for the rooms/dining options as I wasn't really sure what I wanted/needed. I would have no hesitation in recommending the Slieve Russell hotel to anyone that wants a 5 star experience in a 4 star hotel. As far as I'm concerned it's a 5 star hotel in my eyes and my new number 1 hotel. I hope to return soon to recharge the batteries 😉

Beautiful location and grounds, although I wish I had had time to explore more. Receptionist did not speak very good English. Thus, I didn't realise that food was not available in the Kells bar or foyer after 6-00. This was compounded by menus being on the tables. Luckily, a waiter from the bar sorted everything out for me, even though it wasn't his responsibility. Thank You. Leisure centre was good, not a large pool but had everything I needed. Please note, as with most Irish hotels, swimming caps are required. Room was comfortable and I slept well. Security chain on the door, which is reassuring for a solo female. I think it should be compulsory for all hotels to have increased security. Though I must clarify that there were no security concerns in this particular hotel. Breakfast was a buffet. However, it was served by a member of staff - much more hygienic than members of the public all diving in. Staff were efficient and polite at breakfast. Overall, good value for money.

The Hotel, the rooms, its amenities and surroundings are all very nice. Unfortunately, the attentiveness of staff leaves a lot to be desired. I was treated with quite a bit of indifference and felt more like an annoyance and a hindrance during my stay. This unfortunate treatment was consistent across all areas of Slieve Russell. It is a shame as the poor customer service massively detracted from what could have been a very nice stay. I would not recommend.

Excellent stay from start to finish, staff were excllent as was the food at breakfast and the dinners in the summit Restaurant. Nice walk through the golf course and woods. Pool and spa area were fine but busy, it's well worth paying the extra for the ciuin spa. We will stay again

Having previously had Sunday lunch at The Conall Cearnach Restaurant, we went for Easter Sunday lunch. Overall the 4 course lunch was OK apart from inedible small saucepan of vegetables consisting of small diced carrots and not sure what the small white diced vegetables were but they were 99% raw. Whilst I appreciate peoples preference for al dente vegetables, these were beyond raw. Also the apple crumble was more like a cake as no crumble evident. Me and my friend paid for lunches separately and for some reason, I have been charged €44.00 twice. My friend paid just over €53.00 as they had a glass of wine with their lunch. Somewhat worrying 😟

This is our first time staying here after wanting to come for such a long time. Our kids bought us the stay as a gift. First impressions weren’t good….sent away from the desk at 1.45 saying we couldn’t check in till 2. We went and had lunch which I have to say was gorgeous. We got our room at just before 3, we booked a deluxe room in the over 50’s deal. The rooms are lovely….bathroom dated. But it was disappointing to find that having come for a relaxing stay we are on the floor with the kids play room so things are pretty noisy. There’s also no view at all, looking at concrete walls, and the PVC windows are rattling and blowing a gale. Went for a walk in the grounds, these are very well kept but not much to see as it’s mostly golf land. Came back after our walk to get a drink and were completely ignored in the bar foyer and then at the bar. We just left then after about 15mins. The place is over run with kids so very noisy and not at all what we were expecting Sunday and Monday! There is also no provision of bathrobes and slippers to go to the spa! Had to ask and honestly, you’d think I’d asked for £1000. They will try to then sell you footwear if you don’t have any with you, so do remember flip flops and swimming hats. This is our first day, and so far not great so we will see what tomorrow brings.
Response from Property: Dear Patricia. Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are sorry to learn that your experience did not meet expectations, particularly on what should have been a relaxing break. To clarify a few points, our check-in time is from 3:30pm, however, guests arriving earlier are always welcome to store their luggage at reception and enjoy the hotel facilities. Bathrobes and slippers are provided in our superior room types and suites and we apologise if this was not clearly communicated during your stay. Regarding the children’s playroom, this is a sensory soft play space designed specifically for children under 4 and those with additional needs, so it is very unusual for there to be any significant noise from this area. We are sorry this was your experience, as it would not be typical. We also regret to hear about the service in the bar and any inconvenience caused. Your comments have been shared with the team to ensure improvements are made. We do hope the remainder of your stay improved and we appreciate your feedback. Kind regards, Tony Walker.
