Khaosan Road Bangkok|1.29km from Chitralada Palace
I originally booked for 2 nights, now been here 5, never want to leave, and have eaten some of the best food I've ever eaten in my life... breakfasts are 3 courses, different every day, and more like lunch or dinner. Ung is an amazing cook, and her and her husband Tak are lovely hosts. Yesterday's green curry with chicken & baby aubergines was better than the one in the Netflix streetfood doc, her barbecued pork melts in the mouth and is better than the juiciest bacon you've ever eaten, her Tom yum koong delicious, and how she can make a prawn omelette so fluffy and taste so wonderful is beyond me. And that was only 2 days of food (not to mention the desserts). The place itself is beautiful, calm, spotless - an old Thai wooden house, 2 stories, painted cream and green, with dark, polished wooden floors, full of interesting objects and beautiful old sepia photographs. My room has a little balcony with climbing pink jasmine and more that looks into the quiet alley and at night it smells heavenly. There's a fridge in the hallway with an endless supply of water in glass bottles, saving on money AND plastic. The courtyard is a little green paradise and I can hear at least 3 different kinds of birds and a gecko as I write this over the Tom yum koong. WiFi is fast, I have AC, an electric shower, the room is cute, big, though I know some of the others are quite small. I could quite happily live here for the rest of my life. The area is peaceful and safe. It's a five minute walk from Thewes Pier and a short ferry ride to both sky train and metro, a 10 minute bus ride from chatuchak market, 15 min walk from Khao San road (go once for a look, don't go back), and if you like a longer walk like me, to burn off the breakfast, the royal palace and Chinatown are about 45 mins to an hour on foot. There's a local market close by, at least three 7-11s within spitting distance, a local restaurant round the corner which is not bad but not up to Ung's standards, and at night a long chain of food stands along the canal that I've yet to try. If you're looking for party central this may not be your best choice but please don't look it over for the sake of a flat screen TV you can watch from bed. You could not regret coming here. And if you did, I'd say there was something not quite right about you. I love this place. Thank you Ung and Tak for making me so welcome.

It was convenient to have a cafe and a restaurant on the first floor of the hotel. 7-Eleven is nearby and grabs well. The room is spacious and clean. The pool is small, but it's so pretty, and it's prettier when the lights turn on in the evening The pictures come out so well

My personal experience was very good. The first day was delayed because the plane was delayed, and after I landed, I was delayed for a long time to get the visa on arrival. I originally planned to arrive at 18:25, but it didn’t arrive until 22:00. The store has been waiting for us without urging. After we arrived, we were very enthusiastic, and we checked in very well. The landlord and grandma led us to the room personally and explained everything. She also asked us if we can arrange the itinerary. If there is no arrangement, she will introduce it and she is very attentive. I did some introductions around it. It’s super sweet... The room is large and comfortable. Although it doesn’t provide breakfast, there is free coffee, milk and bread every morning. My mother and I think it’s enough...Anyway , My mother and I live very comfortable, satisfied, and feel at home. If I go next time, I will still choose here...

The hotel in the photo looks better. The main plus is a included breakfast. Normal, mostly Thai food. For those who are European-sold cruissans, toasts, a mixture of margarine with oil, jams, eyelashes and sausages. Breakfast can be served. The main minus is very noisy at night. The hotel is next to the track, with the track on two sides, the movement is 24-hour. The first night almost didn't sleep. The second night I already bought silicone beruchi. The second minus- number was on the third floor and the constant smell of cigarettes from the in-frequent ventilation, very strong, felt it even through sleep, rose in the morning with nausea. I saw that next to the outdoor air conditioner box - there was a bunch of bulls. Smoking and throw from the top floor. Bathroom with the bathroom, but I assure you to take the bath wish you will definitely not arise in it. The furniture is rusty and you will look at the ceiling covered with a plaster. The black plaster has grown and on the clutch in the bathroom. The location is normal for taxi use. No cafes nearby, not least restaurants. As compensation - cafe at a hotel with free rum service. I unlikely to choose this hotel. TK hotel is needed for a comfortable accommodation. And here with this just didn't develop because of the 24-hour very strong noise of the road and the eternal smell of cigarettes from the in-flow ventilation.
