This is a great hotel for Chinese travelers. The exterior really stands out and brings credit to us Chinese in the area, and the front desk staff all speak Chinese. The Muslim front desk lady was incredibly nice, speaking with a charming, authentic Guangxi accent – it was delightful. The service attitude is excellent, and the overall decor is similar to a Hanting Hotel in China, quite standardized. Having been renovated in 2024, it still feels relatively new. The rooftop pool isn't heavily used; I had it all to myself one evening. Breakfast was decent; it was rare to find noodle soup, but it wasn't authentic enough – a bit of a letdown.
**Pros:**
* Pure cotton linens are absorbent, new, and clean.
* TV supports screen mirroring.
* Good quality bathrobes.
* Large floor-to-ceiling windows offer great light and views.
**Sincere Suggestions for Improvement:**
1. **Breakfast:** The noodle soup and regular noodles need to be more authentic. After having Tom Yum here, I really missed Chinese zhajiangmian or Chaoshan noodle soup. It would be great to have Chinese baozi (buns) and youtiao (fried dough sticks).
2. **Pool:** Hotels with such large pools in Bangkok are usually very expensive. The rooftop viewing area and lighting could be spruced up and managed to create a more upscale atmosphere. It's a place that could be truly enjoyable, but currently, it feels neglected – empty during the day and pitch black at night.
3. **Deposit:** A 2,000 baht deposit is roughly 500 RMB. Even guesthouses these days rarely require a deposit, so this thinking feels quite outdated. I suggest a symbolic charge, especially since most travelers don't carry much cash.
4. **Dining:** The Xi'an restaurant downstairs is quite good, but the open-air late-night food stalls next door are pretty expensive, mainly serving BBQ. A single skewer of chicken cartilage costs 68 baht, which is about 15 RMB.
5. **Elevator:** We're not the only ones complaining about the slow card reader for the elevator. After it beeps, you have to wait for the green light to flash once. If you miss it, you can't select your floor. It means you have to be extra careful when using the elevator – isn't that ridiculous?!
I rarely write such detailed reviews, but as a Chinese person, I genuinely hope Shenzhen Mansion continues to improve. I still highly recommend it to everyone.
