Baiyoke Sky Hotel Bangkok

I had previously visited this hotel on an excursion from Pattaya. Now, traveling with my daughter to Koh Samet via Bangkok, we didn't hesitate to book this hotel again. I wanted to show my daughter the revolving observation deck on the 84th floor, the museum, and the large, diverse dinner buffet. We stayed on the 28th floor. The staff was welcoming, and the hotel's floor layout is well-planned. The reception is on the 18th floor. We were greeted immediately upon arrival, our luggage was taken care of, and we were escorted to reception. We were checked in a bit early, at 1 PM, and led to our room. The door opened and… I was surprised. The exterior impression didn't match the interior. The room was spacious, but had low ceilings, old and worn-out furniture. It was a corner room and very dark, with only one small, narrow window (very dirty) and unwashed curtains, overlooking a neighboring hotel wall. You could barely catch a glimpse of the city (we had booked a non-corner room with a city view). The large room had only two small lights, perhaps to hide the room's surprises. The entire room had carpet (which also seemed ancient). The bed linen and towels were clean but visibly old and worn from countless washes; the duvet cover even had pilling, and the towels were far from white – they really should have been replaced. The carpet also extended throughout the hotel corridors, which I believe contributed to the musty smell in both the room and corridors, a smell even the air fresheners (sprayers located everywhere – in corridors and lifts) couldn't mask. During housekeeping, the maid constantly turned on the air conditioning in our room. Initially, we didn't understand why. We went to reception to return a misplaced card (thinking the maid had left it during cleaning), and they told us to leave it on so the air conditioner would run. Then the picture became clear: if you turned off the air conditioning, an unpleasant smell filled the room, and even the sewage smell from the toilet carried through the ventilation. Strangely, there's no ventilation in the toilet, so we had to leave the door open when we left the room and keep the air conditioning on 16°C. This hotel is in dire need of renovation! The room's price doesn't reflect its condition. The hotel has a sports area with mini-golf and a small swimming pool (also from the same outdated facilities). There's also a floor with a spa and fitness center. On the 18th floor, there's a small shop and a few cafes. The food at the hotel, both breakfast and dinner, was excellent. You can dine on the balcony (with glass railings) on the 81st floor – the view is superb. This is the only thing that makes up for the hotel's aging facilities. There's a free transfer to the airport metro line – which is great! I recommend staying on the upper floors for a magnificent view! I only recommend this hotel for short stays.

The views are absolutely stunning, and the housekeeping staff is incredibly friendly. I'm so happy I chose this place for my first trip to Thailand. The location is super convenient, and every single staff member is so enthusiastic and helpful!

Getting from the 1st floor to the 18th-floor lobby, then to the room, involved a bit of elevator hopping, which took some getting used to at first, but I quickly adapted. The room was spacious, and the bathroom was large, which was great, but the facilities are a bit dated. The breakfast was excellent, and the hotel view is absolutely stunning. It's also very convenient being close to the airport train. I had a wonderful and relaxing stay.

1000 baht deposit. Corner room on the 23rd floor. It was clean, with new furniture and a spacious room. The bathroom had everything except a comb and razor. The toiletries were good. The towels were old but clean. There were bathrobes, but they weren't hung up as usual; they were in the closet, so it took a while to find them. Four bottles of water were provided. The soundproofing was good. The plumbing was old but functional. The hotel itself is old, but they try to keep it in good condition. The breakfast on the 81st floor was varied. We booked dinner on the 78th floor, which was also decent. Downsides: The bed was old and the mattress was terrible. The hairdryer was old and not powerful enough to dry hair. It's fine for one night, but for a longer stay, you'd need to consider it. It was impossible to get a taxi; they wouldn't come because the area is congested.

The hotel was okay, but the buffet was absolutely amazing, we'll definitely be back. The buffet on the 82nd floor was also incredible!

Every year we visit Bangkok to pay respects at the Erawan Shrine, and this time we decided to try the Baiyoke Sky Hotel, despite its mixed reviews online. I was a bit apprehensive, but honestly, my only thought after staying there was – why didn't I come sooner! 1) Service and Check-in: The front desk staff were very friendly and polite, and check-in was quick. After checking in, they not only gave us a fruit cocktail voucher for the 83rd floor but also an ice cream coupon for the kids, which was a really thoughtful touch. 2) Room Experience: We stayed on the 55th floor in a room with a 1.8-meter king bed and a 1.3-meter single bed. The room was very spacious. Although it's an older hotel, and the facilities show their age, the room was very clean. Besides a refrigerator, it also had a bathtub for the kids to play in, but the best part was undoubtedly the breathtaking, unobstructed Bangkok city view. 3) Breakfast and High-Altitude Experience: During our stay, we had all our meals at the restaurant on the 83rd floor. The food selection was incredibly rich and varied. The restaurant staff were not only very friendly but also quick to replenish dishes. Plus, with our room key, we could access the 360-degree revolving viewpoint on the 84th floor for free, both day and night, offering panoramic views, including the Chao Phraya River in the distance. The view was absolutely stunning. 4) Surroundings and Night Market: Right downstairs from the hotel is Pratunam Market, Bangkok's largest wholesale center, and next door, Platinum Fashion Mall boasts over 2,000 shops. The Pratunam Night Market is also right beside the hotel, offering endless browsing for days. Just a left turn downstairs, you'll find massage parlors, a 7-Eleven, and various restaurants. Central World and Big C are also only about a 15-minute walk away. The only minor drawback is that the street downstairs can be a bit chaotic, a stark contrast to the hotel, but its convenience and lively atmosphere make up for it. I personally love this authentic local vibe. 5) Transportation Convenience: It's a 5-10 minute walk to Ratchaprarop Station on the Airport Rail Link, which takes you directly to Suvarnabhumi Airport in 25 minutes. One stop further to Phaya Thai makes it convenient to transfer to the BTS Green Line. If you want to avoid crowded subways or BTS during peak hours, it’s also easy to hail a taxi using Grab or Bolt right outside. In summary, while Baiyoke Sky Hotel is an older establishment, it has been renovated, and our stay was excellent. Next time we're in Bangkok, we'll definitely be back to stay here again!

They celebrated my birthday with a cake in the room, dessert at dinner, and cocktails at the bar. The view was absolutely stunning. Truly an unforgettable experience. The aromatherapy massage was very pleasant. It's best to book everything in advance, especially the massage on the 69th floor.
