The perfect place from which to explore Bangkok Very comfortable and warm room. Plenty of electric sockets to charge my devices and work with my laptop. Great TV and really excellent hot shower, so easy to use. Friendly staff and fantastic breakfasts. I love the Karelian pies. The hotel is very central within easy reach of shops, eating places and metro, trams, buses and the Central Station. I will certainly be back.”

This is my second time staying at Dusit suites and i would stay here every time i visit bangkok. It is located near a major subway and has a lot of things to do around. There are good spas and malls nearby. The room is large and comfortable with a great bathroom. The hotel pool is pretty cool and the fitness center well equipped.

moldy shower tile sealer....evening receptionist wasnt helpful... the pool, fitness and party room of the hotel is renovating. However, we found out by ourself reading the letters in the room. We were trying to ask about dining room but the receptionist stopped us mid sentence and said only, no fitness, no dinning, no pool and walked away. But the receptionist in the morning was nice.

I had an amazing time at Moxy. The service was impeccable. Staff was friendly and always ready to help and accommodate. Room was clean, modern with sleek design. Definitely would recommend for a convenient location and comfortable stay in the heart of Bangkok. Gym could use some more equipment but you can do the basic routine. Hopefully they can add more equipment with time. I just want to mention Weena and Megan went above and beyond to help me have a more memorable stay here at Moxy by helping me fulfill a request.

Kimpton Maa-Lai is one of the best hotel (if not the best) in Bangkok that anyone can stay in. I had stayed here for 1 night in Bangkok, even though I booked with points, the front desk team was generous enough to give me an upgrade to the Maa-Lai Suite in lieu of my IHG Diamond membership. Upon arrival, the bellboys were helpful enough to take care of my baggage and whisk me into the lobby. The lobby at Kimpton was a work of art, and all guests who enter would first set their gaze on their magnificent art piece, The Raindrop. Other than that, numerous art pieces were also scattered around the hotel. I was attended to by Yok, who was very friendly and helpful, and answered all the questions I had, and also explained more about the hotel to me. She even walked me over to my room once the check in was complete! She is an absolute delight made my overall hotel stay very pleasant. In my room, there was also not 1, but 2 welcome letters from Songpol, the Hotel Manager and from Patrick, the General Manager. This is the first time I received 2 welcome letters in 1 stay. Along with the letters was a very nice welcome gift of macarons and chocolate, they were very delicious and left me wanting more. The room was spacious and spotless, equipped with very modern designs. I loved the room so much I ended up spending most of my time in the room instead of heading out. Also, the suite room was equipped with a Dyson supersonic hairdryer! This shows that Kimpton really spares no expense in ensuring the guests comfort, as it is their priority. This hotel is currently on my return stay list the next time I visit Bangkok, in fact, I have already made future reservations, and I would recommend anyone reading this review to not hesitate and spoil yourself by staying at Kimpton too!

We were greatly impressed by the tidiness of the room, and the beds are really comfortable as well. In addition, the staffs of the hotel are really friendly and helpful, especially valets Khun Unda and Khun Wut who not only assist us with the luggage, but also with the reserving tables at restaurants and finding taxis for us (since we don’t know Thai and they help translating English to Thai for us) In short, a definite recommendation from us if you are looking for nice place to stay with proactive staff that always try to assist guests with anything!

Bangkok Chidlom Hotel Guide

Bangkok Travel Guide

Bangkok is Thailand’s capital and the pulse of Southeast Asia. Built along the Chao Phraya River, Bangkok used to get around on a network of canals, earning it the nickname “Venice of the East.”

In Bangkok, you’ve got glittering temples like Wat Arun and Wat Pho sitting right next to shiny skyscrapers and giant malls like IconSiam. The streets are buzzing with food carts slinging spicy noodles, and night markets where you can shop for everything from knock-off sneakers to weird snacks you didn’t know you needed.

No matter if you’re slurping on boat noodles, cruising the river, or catching the sunset from a rooftop bar, Bangkok’s got a way of pulling you in. It’s messy, magical, and somehow always makes you want to come back for more.

Getting to Bangkok

So, you’re headed to Bangkok—awesome choice! Getting there is pretty easy since the city’s got two airports: Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK) and Don Mueang Airport (DMK).

Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK) is the main one, located about 30 kilometers (19 miles) southeast of the city center. It’s where most international flights land. It’s shiny, modern, and well-organized, with loads of shops, cafes, and lounges. If you’re flying in from Europe, North America, or anywhere long-haul, this is probably where you’ll arrive. From the airport, getting into the city is easy:

  • Taxis: Expect to pay around 400–500 THB (about $12–15 USD), and they’ll add a small fee for luggage.
  • Airport Rail Link: It’s fast, cheap, and connects directly to the BTS Skytrain, which is perfect if you’re traveling light.

If you’re catching a red-eye flight, I suggest staying near Suvarnabhumi Airport for convenience. These hotels offer free shuttle services to and from the airport, making those early mornings or late arrivals much easier.

Don Mueang Airport (DMK) is about 20 kilometers (12 miles) north of downtown Bangkok and handles mostly budget airlines like AirAsia and Nok Air. It’s an older airport and it’s great if you’re coming from nearby countries or taking domestic flights.

Getting Around Bangkok

Getting around Bangkok might seem tricky at first, but once you figure out the flow, it’s actually pretty exciting.

  • BTS Skytrain & MRT Subway: These are absolute lifesavers. They’re fast, air-conditioned, and easy to use, covering most of the main spots like Sukhumvit, Siam, and Chatuchak Market. Plus, no sitting in traffic! Grab a Rabbit Card to make things even simpler.
  • River Ferries: Want a break from the hustle and bustle? The ferries on the Chao Phraya River are a game-changer. They’re cheap, relaxing, and take you to landmarks like the Grand Palace and Wat Arun.
  • Tuk-Tuks: You can’t visit Bangkok without hopping into one of these iconic three-wheelers. They’re fun for short trips, but make sure to negotiate the fare before you get in—drivers love a good haggle!
  • Taxis & Grab: Taxis are fine, but Bangkok traffic can make even short rides feel endless. Download the Grab app (Thailand’s version of Uber) for convenience and fair pricing—no awkward negotiations required.
  • Motorbike Taxis: If you’re in a hurry (or feeling adventurous), motorbike taxis are the way to go. Just hold on tight and make sure they give you a helmet.

Top Things to Do in Bangkok

Bangkok is chaotic, colorful, and so much fun. This delulu city guarantees you’ll leave with stories to tell!

1. The Grand Palace and Wat Phra Kaew

The Grand Palace is Bangkok’s most famous landmark, and for good reason. This 18th-century royal palace is incredible, with intricate architecture and remarkable courtyards. Inside, you’ll find Wat Phra Kaew, home to the Emerald Buddha, Thailand’s most sacred statue.

Pro Tip: Your ticket also gets you into the Queen Sirikit Museum of Textiles, which is cool (literally—hello, AC!) and worth a quick stop.

2. Wat Pho

Just down the road, you’ve got Wat Pho, home to the massive Reclining Buddha that’s 150 feet of pure gold-plated glory. The temple grounds are beautiful, and if you’re up for it, you can grab a massage at the on-site Thai massage. Trust me, it’s worth it.

3. Chinatown

Chinatown is a feast for the senses. No matter if you’re here for the amazing street food, gold shops, or temples, this neighborhood never disappoints. The main drag, Yaowarat Road, comes alive at night with food carts dishing out everything from roast duck to sticky rice with mango.

If you’re visiting during Chinese New Year, expect exciting parades, dragon dances, and even more delicious food. Don’t forget to duck into a side alley—you never know what treasure you’ll find.

4. Dinner Cruise on the Chao Phraya River

Want to see Bangkok lit up at night? Hop on a dinner cruise along the Chao Phraya River. You’ve got options: a classy teakwood boat for a romantic vibe or a lively catamaran with buffet and entertainment. Either way, the breeze and the views of illuminated temples and bridges make it worth your evening.

5. Muay Thai Match

If you’re up for some adrenaline, check out a muay Thai fight. The crowd energy is wild, and the matches are fast-paced and intense. Head to Rajadamnern Stadium for a classic vibe or Lumpinee for something more modern.

Better to Know Before Visiting Bangkok

Before planing the trip to Bangkok, it's good to keep a few things in mind.

CategoryDetails
WeatherHot and humid year-round. Rainy season: May–October. Dry season: November–February. Pack light clothing and a raincoat or umbrella.
CurrencyThai Baht (THB). Have cash for small vendors and taxis. Credit cards widely accepted. Plenty of ATMs and exchange booths available.
TransportationUse BTS Skytrain or MRT Subway to avoid traffic. Taxis are affordable (ensure the meter is used). Tuk-tuks are fun—agree on a price before the ride.
Cultural RespectDress modestly at temples (cover shoulders and knees). Avoid touching heads or pointing feet at people, as these gestures are disrespectful.
Street FoodMust-try! Pick busy vendors for freshness. Avoid uncooked food to prevent food poisoning.

Time in Bangkok

Bangkok is in the Indochina Time Zone (ICT), which is UTC+7.

  • London (UK): Bangkok is 7 hours ahead.
  • New York (NYC): Bangkok is 12 hours ahead. Noon in Bangkok means it’s midnight in New York.
  • Singapore (SG): Same time as Bangkok, no difference.
  • Sydney (Australia): Bangkok is 4 hours behind. An afternoon in Bangkok is already evening in Australia.

Best Time to Visit Bangkok

The best time to visit Bangkok is from November to February, when the weather is cooler and more comfortable, with temperatures around 25–35°C. This is peak tourist season, so expect crowds, especially in December and January. November is a highlight with the Loi Krathong Festival, a beautiful tradition of floating lanterns on rivers.

From March to June, Bangkok gets hot and humid, with temperatures often exceeding 35°C. April stands out for the Songkran Festival, a lively Thai New Year celebration with citywide water fights.

The rainy season runs from July to October, with September seeing the heaviest rain and occasional flooding. While it’s less busy and more affordable, it’s not ideal for outdoor activities. By late October, the rain eases, and the weather starts to clear up, making November a perfect time to visit.

What to Eat in Bangkok

Bangkok, the capital city of Thailand, is renowned for its vibrant street food scene and diverse culinary offerings. Here are several popular foods that you should try when visiting Bangkok:

  • Pad Thai: Perhaps the most famous Thai dish, Pad Thai is a stir-fried noodle dish typically made with rice noodles, eggs, tofu, tamarind pulp, fish sauce, dried shrimp, garlic, red chili pepper, and palm sugar. It's often served with lime wedges and chopped roasted peanuts.
  • Tom Yum Goong: This is a hot and sour Thai soup usually cooked with shrimp (goong). The soup is made with lemongrass, kaffir lime leaves, galangal, lime juice, fish sauce, and crushed chili peppers.
  • Som Tam: Also known as green papaya salad, Som Tam is a spicy salad made from shredded unripe papaya. It usually includes tomatoes, carrots, peanuts, dried shrimp, runner beans, palm sugar, tamarind pulp, fish sauce, lime juice, garlic, and plenty of chilies.
  • Mango Sticky Rice (Khao Niew Mamuang): A popular dessert, especially during the mango season. It consists of ripe mangoes served with sweet, sticky rice and topped with coconut milk.

HHappiness41294142625Big spacious place. Room was well maintained. Housekeeping did a good job. Provided Tuk Tuk transfer to train station. The unit also had a fridge, dishwasher, washing machine and dryer. All staff, Tukta, Peet, Peter were fantastic at all times. However, water temperature in the bathrooms could be better. Inconsistent flow and heat. Would be great if dishwashing tablets were given.

GGuest UserFantastic service and room Naran checked us in at like 6am because our flight arrived super early. We were expecting we’d have to kill time til check in at 2, but we were kindly let in to our room! We were able to relax with the baby and elderly father. Thank you so much!! Throughout the stay, WATT was there to assist us and recommend places. He’d even take the van especially for us since we have a baby. He booked a restaurant nearby for local Thai food and even recommended a night market. We were telling him we’d leave for the night market at 4:30 and recommended we go later because it’d be too hot for the baby. He was so right! Thank you. The room was spacious with two bedrooms and a nice big bathtub. We were able to relax when tired and eat in. The pool had not too many ppl and my daughter loved the pool! I always used to stay at St. Regis for its breakfast but since Watt was so hospitable, we will definitely be back to this hotel and recommend my friends.

GGuest UserI booked an Athenee Suite again and was very happy with the room and the Athenee Club. The only disappointment was that on check in at about 6.30pm there were a lot of guests in the queue for reception and I asked one of the staff whether I could go to the lounge for check in but was told that I had to check in at reception and he would escort me to the lounge after. It took about 20-25 minutes for me to access check in but the staff brought out a drink for everyone whilst waiting and a cold towel for me which was much appreciated. By the time I deposited my bags in the room and went to the lounge for evening cocktails there was less than 30 minutes for me to enjoy the night. As the hotel advertises private check in at the lounge and you cannot access the lounge floor without a room card for the elevator, this is false advertising. The room and bathroom were both spacious and comfortable but unfortunately they no longer supply the small UHT milk capsules but coffeemate packets which are not as effective. Despite this I will have no hesitation staying at the Athenee hotel again.

GGuest UserIt's ok. For the price it's good. And this review might not be valuable for long, they are undergoing renovations as they were doing demolition on the 16th - 18th floors when I was there. About 20 years ago, there was a massive investment in high-rise condominiums. A crash in the market caused a lot of these buildings to become all-suites hotels, and I'm guessing that's what happened to the Bliston Suwan. My room was very big for a very nice part of town at a very reasonable price. It had a living room and bedroom with all the appliances including a washing machine. So if that's your formula for success, this is a good choice. The problem is that it feels like it wants you to move in and decorate it. It feels - empty, I guess you could say. The bedsheets are sort of rough, something you would replace if you lived there. There wasn't much of a mattress cover and you could feel every ridge and stitch of the mattress (the couch was more comfortable to sleep on). There's not much furniture in the big space, and the TV screens are small compared to modern hotels. The common areas were particularly sp****, empty spaces like a warehouse. These are all things that might be addressed in a renovation. It felt a bit dated too. There were a lot of stains on the carpet, and the 1990's style DVD player was retro. Breakfast was something to miss, I would recommend trying some of the many options just outside the hotel (including an AMAZING coffee shop across the street). The staff was highly effective and pleasant to deal with (as is typical with Thai hospitality in my experience).
