Conrad Bangkok Residences

Chidlom Bangkok|0.51km from Phachara Place
I stayed at Conrad Bangkok a few times in the past (the hotel side) but never on the residence side. The quick takeaway for Conrad Residences, especially if we compare with Conrad hotel, is that it’s cheaper and more spacious. Also it comes with more elite benefits than other chains such as Marriott Executive Apartments, but the downside is an aging product and the lack of lounge access. I booked the entry level room which is a studio at the Residences, and was upgraded +1 to a suite as Hilton Diamond. This kind of upgrade is nothing to write home about, however a suite upgrade on the hotel side is now quite difficult due to a more stingy upgrade policy and +1 is also more generous than at the various Marriott Executive Apartments in Bangkok which are unlikely to upgrade at all because I believe they are excluded from the upgrade policy. So while the upgrade was not huge, it resulted in a suite nonetheless. I previously read some pretty poor reviews of rooms in dire need of renovations, so my expectations were low and they were exceeded. Obviously the room had seen better days but everything was functional and in particular the air conditioning was very strong. For solo travelers I would say a smaller (renovated) room at Conrad hotel is probably preferable but for guests looking for more space, the residence side can be an option. My main negative surprise actually had nothing to do with the age of the hardware. There was a full kitchen but I also expected a washer and dryer but it’s simply not part of the offering at the residences (need to use shared laundry facilities). It’s a major negative in my opinion compared to full-service hotels which have some long-stay accommodation room types such as Marriott Surawongse, Kimpton, Akyra Thonglor (SLH), and Sindhorn Kempinski, all of which have a washing machine in the room. If booking a room at Conrad Residences, the lack of lounge access is one drawback relative to the hotel side because it’s not part of the benefits. However breakfast is included in the same restaurant as the hotel side, which is not a benefit offered at Marriott Exec Apartments so overall Conrad offers more. I did not partake in the breakfast but I took a look at the buffet and it seemed similar to what it used to be the last time I stayed at the hotel. Overall I had mixed feelings about Conrad Residences. For such accommodation I suspect some people will prefer a washing machine in the room but there was none so it’s a miss. However if the purpose is mostly to have extra space and a full kitchen, it can be a reasonable option which offers more elite benefits as Hilton Diamond than Marriott choices.

Fantastic service and room Naran checked us in at like 6am because our flight arrived super early. We were expecting we’d have to kill time til check in at 2, but we were kindly let in to our room! We were able to relax with the baby and elderly father. Thank you so much!! Throughout the stay, WATT was there to assist us and recommend places. He’d even take the van especially for us since we have a baby. He booked a restaurant nearby for local Thai food and even recommended a night market. We were telling him we’d leave for the night market at 4:30 and recommended we go later because it’d be too hot for the baby. He was so right! Thank you. The room was spacious with two bedrooms and a nice big bathtub. We were able to relax when tired and eat in. The pool had not too many ppl and my daughter loved the pool! I always used to stay at St. Regis for its breakfast but since Watt was so hospitable, we will definitely be back to this hotel and recommend my friends.

Woraburi Sukhumvit Hotel

Sukhumvit Bangkok|0.15km from Phachara Place
The hotel feels a bit 'old', but it's nice, clean and quiet. I was on the 5th floor and internet worked really well for the 3 weeks I was there. The staff was friendly and helpful. The only downside was that the pool was closed. It didn't bother me personally, but for some people this might be a downer. Also, not everyone knows exactly how the microwave in the lobby works. I had two 7-Eleven meals that weren't properly heated after opening them. For families it's good to know that this hotel is in the same street as Nana Plaza, one of the red-light districts in Bangkok. It's actually a really small part of Soi 4, but during the evening a lot of girls are there trying to hook up with men for sex (and even more ladyboys, who can be quite persistent). For me as a single guy, this was sometimes a little annoying, but never a problem, but as a family, you might want to keep this in mind. Having said that, the hotel is 'guest friendly', meaning you can have a person (or two) visit you with no additional charge (just make sure they leave their ID at the reception). While the hotel and maybe the street itself might not be everyone's cup of tea, I had a really good time there and I have no complaints about the hotel. I actually thought the location was great. The hotel is in a 14-minute walking distance from BTS Nana, the so-called Skytrain, which makes it easy to move around the city. Additionally, you can take the train (MRT) to go to different places where the BTS doesn't go. The closest train station is Sukhumvit and it's located near the Terminal 21 shopping mall at Asok BTS. So... in short... I recommend this hotel. :-)

Never have I ever stayed in such a dirty riddled run down hotel abroad or anywhere for that matter. To start we booked in for 12.00pm. Room wasn't ready for 2 hours which is OK. Once I got to room there was a smell. I thought ok maybe food or something. I went out got back later to find the smell of raw sewage and around 20 mosquito flying in the bathroom. I went to reception to be told nothing can be done tonight sort in morning. I sprayed mossy spray and made sure the bathroom door was closed. Next day I very ill and for next 48 hours couldn't move to change rooms or even get out of bed. My friend who had other room got me out of there and we went to another apartment. 3 days later I'm just coming round. My friend went back yo get my things and well he had to cover his mouth and nose. Never ever stay at this place. Ever. 🤢🤢🤢

They offer pretty much all the amenities in the rooms to meet most people's daily needs (fridge, microwave, stove, iron, cutlery). The rooms are spacious too.The location is less than a kilometer from Nana BTS, which was convenient. My main irritation was the WIFI connection, which needed a sign in via some buggy web portal and it seems they limited the number of devices per room (I have 2 laptops, 2 phones and a tablet) and I use all of these devices but I could only connect 3 of them. That would be my only complaint, it's otherwise a fantastic hotel and would stay again.

I stayed in a dozen hotels in Thailand and Laos on this trip and this was certainly the best value. It's nearly new, so very clean and modern, and my room was as large and well furnished as other hotels in Bangkok costing much more. The pool is really nice (although it's next to an expressway) and the gym is great for a hotel gym, much better than most. The hotel is a bit of a walk from Nana station, but still feasible even with wheeled luggage. Getting back to Nana, though, is so easy, because the hotel provides a free car service upon request. I never waited more than a few minutes. There are lots of local restaurants and bars, and convenience stores. The staff was very nice and also very efficient. The Parinda will be my choice when I return to Bangkok.

If you want to live for a long time, it is still very economical to have more people. The room is very large, with double beds in the room, and the quality of air conditioning is particularly good! You can also cook, the location is a bit off, if you don't catch the shuttle bus, you can only take a taxi.

This is not an average hotel but there is such a mix of good and bad that it works out that way overall. The location is near Nana Plaza but not so near as to get the noise. There's a notice at the desk saying it's OK to take a girl to your room. The hotel has a rather grand colonial style (Indian?) but slightly fraying round the edges. My room had a nice parquet floor but looking a bit dusty into the edges and corners. The bathroom had strange floor tiles designed to look like there was a dirty mark and there was a constant accumulation of water between the toilet and the shower screen. There was good storage space. The bed must have been 2m wide but the headboards were intended for twin beds. The Aircon could have been more effective but at least it didn't leave me feeling cold. My biggest gripe was water. At first I thought there wasn't even a fridge but it was hidden in the unit supporting the TV. It was empty. It turns out you have to get water from the dispenser on the corridor opposite the lift, but the water wasn't even chilled. There's a notice in the room saying they will bring you two bottles of water if you leave them a Google review. I think playing games with an essential commodity is disgraceful and shows they have lost the plot. One star deducted.
