Amazing
SSmellissaThis was a treat as it’s a birthday celebration but it soon turned into a series of unfortunate events.
The service and staff are amazing but their rooms have a serious bug problem.
We woke up in the middle of the night to find our pillows covered with winged bugs that looked like ants, they were in the pillow and on the pillow, upon inspection there were more on the headboard and on the sofa by the window. We started to also notice dust piles on the floor in the room too, so we suspect they are eating at the wood.
It was pretty alarming to find and have bugs crawling on your bed and we soon found out it was on our bags too.
A staff member was quick to come to our room to inspect but the main team have already gone home. They allowed us to switch rooms but it looks like the problem is in the other room too. By the bed, more dust piles and on the sofa more bugs.
It’s midnight so we sprayed the bed with bug spray and hope no more will crawl on us. As well as this their sink was blocked.
We are both adventurous people, slept in the rainforest before, camped etc so we are not scared of bugs but when these could be termites or carpenter ants, our biggest worry is bringing them home. It’s not a nice situation for them either given their buildings are 200 years old.
The next morning comes and the situation was not handled like a luxury hotel would. No one came to speak to us about it and no apology until I mentioned it at reception. The room they moved us to was also a smaller one so we effectively paid for a bigger room that we couldn’t stay in, this also wasn’t mentioned.
There were positives like free bike usage, good cocktails, board games in lobby and a clean pool but I wouldn’t say this is a luxury hotel but more like a 3 star hotel with a 5 star mask.
All in all, a birthday that wasn’t a treat.

We stayed at Pondok Santi Estate in Gili Trawangan for four nights, and from the very first moment, everything exceeded our expectations. The level of service is outstanding — a true 5 out of 5 — and the experience feels much more like a five-star luxury resort rather than a hotel.
Every detail is beautifully designed and perfectly maintained. The rooms are spacious, elegant, and extremely comfortable. Housekeeping is impeccable, and the staff is attentive without ever being intrusive.
The restaurant experience deserves special praise. The food quality, presentation, and service were consistently excellent. Breakfasts were a highlight of our stay — fresh, delicious, and served in a peaceful, beautiful setting that made every morning feel special.
What truly sets this resort apart is the warmth and professionalism of the team. From the room staff to the restaurant team, everyone made us feel genuinely welcome and well cared for throughout our stay.
Personally, Gili Trawangan itself is not a destination that impressed me greatly. However, Pondok Santi Estate completely transformed our experience and made the island a place I would happily return to again — specifically because of this resort.
We feel very fortunate to have stayed here and are deeply grateful for such a memorable and high-quality experience. Pondok Santi Estate is a true sanctuary of comfort, elegance, and exceptional hospitality, and we would not hesitate to return.

GGuest UserThe hotel's location is fantastic, right on the beachfront with private sun loungers. The staff are welcoming, and there's a tap outside each villa to rinse off sand after the beach. We were greeted wonderfully and checked in immediately as our room was ready. They promptly brought welcome drinks and cold towels.
Regarding the downsides: there are no disposable toothbrushes or body lotion. The water isn't in disposable bottles but in a carafe that you have to refill yourself in the lobby. The room is very dark with insufficient lighting. The windows aren't airtight, leading to high street noise, especially when the call to prayer starts at night. The refrigerator is also very noisy. The air conditioner is positioned to blow directly onto the bed, so we had to sleep with our heads at the foot of the bed. The AC is also loud. There were strange worm-like caterpillars crawling in the bathroom and room. There are no power outlets near the beds. Breakfast is à la carte, with an additional buffet offering vegetables, fruits, cheese, cold cuts, and pastries. The breakfast food isn't very good; poached eggs were overcooked. A plus is that you can order several dishes from the menu. The latte coffee was very bitter, and I had to add milk myself. I believe the price for this hotel is too high. The only plus is the location – it's conveniently situated a 10-minute walk from the port and has a beach spot where you can see turtles.

CCN Man 420We stayed as two couples and had a spectacular time at Kelapa. Ren the manager was ready to help our every need straight away and helped us book bikes and trips. She went as far as confirming we didn't pay too much when we booked others on our own. The villa itself was clean, tidy and exactly what we were looking for. The pool is huge but rather deep for the most part so you'll want to keep an extra eye on children.
The Kelapa boys would come by to clean the place every morning about 10-11am and did an excellent job. They were very polite and made sure not to go into your room to clean without asking first.
I gave one less star on location because it's in the heart of the island where it's much quieter. If you're looking for a night out you'll definitely need a bike or carriage arranged, otherwise you can expect a long walk home.
We originally booked 3 nights and very quickly decided to add on to our stay. Thanks so much Ren and Team for an unforgettable visit!

We spent four nights at the Kardia Resort on Gili Trawangan and had a truly wonderful time. Our ocean-view room was bright, clean, and charmingly decorated. A definite highlight was the unique bathroom: it was located entirely in the open, rear section of the room, with a partial roof. Showering outdoors was a truly delightful, tropical experience. The toilet and sink were covered and very cute. The only slight drawback was the limited privacy. Unfortunately, we could hear the showering or toilet use in the neighboring room.
Breakfast was served à la carte outside. One dish and one drink (including coffee) were included. Everything we tried was delicious and freshly prepared, and the relaxed atmosphere in the morning – accompanied by sunshine – was a wonderful start to the day.
The pool, located right next to the island's circular road, was lovely and offered a refreshing way to cool off. In the evenings, you could sit comfortably at the front of the resort and enjoy drinks; a musician often played, creating a very pleasant and relaxed atmosphere.
The staff was exceptionally friendly, attentive, and very helpful. The rooms were cleaned reliably, and an initial problem with our front door was resolved immediately and without any fuss. Organizing a horse taxi for our departure also went smoothly.
The location is good – even though there are currently construction sites on either side. Visually, it's not ideal, but that's not the hotel's fault and only bothered us slightly.
In conclusion:
A charming, relaxed resort with lovely rooms, a fantastic outdoor bathroom, a delicious à la carte breakfast, a beautiful pool, and exceptionally warm and welcoming staff. Apart from the slightly limited privacy in the bathroom, we felt completely at ease. We can absolutely recommend the Kardia Resort for a relaxing holiday on Gili Trawangan.

We spent a fantastic few days at Hotel Lumi Gili Trawangan, and it was one of the best places we've ever stayed! The perfect blend of beauty, comfort, and excellent service makes this hotel an ideal choice for a peaceful and relaxing island getaway.
🏝️ Location:
The hotel is literally right on the beach, on the quiet western side of the island, offering incredible sunsets. The location is super convenient – within walking distance to bike paths and the best spots for exploring the island.
🏡 Rooms and Grounds:
The rooms are modern, clean, and very stylish, with thoughtful design and everything you need for a comfortable stay. We especially loved the cottages – they're cozy, spacious, and perfect for both couples and families. The well-maintained green grounds, swimming pools, and beach umbrellas create a dream vacation atmosphere.
🤝 Staff:
The hotel team is a definite plus! They are very welcoming, attentive, and always ready to help. They assisted us with bicycles, answered all our questions, and made our stay even more enjoyable.
🍽️ Food and Services:
The breakfasts are delicious, with a variety of dishes to suit all tastes, and the restaurant offers interesting international cuisine. The free bicycles are a fantastic bonus, making it easy to explore the entire island.
🌞 Overall Impression:

The breakfasts are fantastic – a lavish buffet plus you can order additional dishes to be prepared. Truly among the best! The rooms are incredibly clean and beautiful. XxcratLocation is good, thats why i chose this hotel. Its not on the main street. But Im solo guy so this is best for me. Near to jetty and near to one and only night market and main night life area and all cafes. Hotel offers bikes rental and day trips with reasonable price. Its good enough for solo or couple who would go for diving for few days on the island. If u r in gili for more than 2 days, I’d suggest u go north to explore better hotels and different experiences on the island or meno or air would be for you. Very near to the beach for sun rise as well. Bfast is superb and other meals as well. Staffs are very friendly and helpful. Pool is normal but they managed to use for the available space for it. Close to local mosque but they do provide some kinda ear plugs for that. But its just few mins during the day. Highly recommended. You cant expect very good hotels on the island with less crowded crowd and this is good enough for few days esp when its close to the jetty to leave.

XXiaLinCharleneFirst, I would like to mention that the staff were all very friendly and helpful. The location is good if what you are looking for is something close to the restaurants and shops but also not far from the turtle point. However, I must mention this as it came as a bit of a shock to us, the property is located right next to a mosque. They broadcast prayers 5 or 6 times a day starting at 5am. I realize that we are in their country and should respect their religious practices. But, we would have booked a different location if we had known this because the broadcast is not as loud in other parts of the island and would not disturb your sleep. The room service was also much less than what we are used to. They only clean every second day (you must hand in your key for this to happen - a detail they only told us after day 3 of staying there), but the staff did provide us with clean towels every day when we asked for it. The breakfast was also very basic, but the amazing service from the staff kind of made up for it. Overall an ok stay.
