Super Balmes Guest House

Great guesthouse in the city center. I wholeheartedly recommend it.

The room had bedbugs; I was bitten all over, and it was red, itchy, and painful. I stayed three nights and they wouldn't let me check out. I even bought medicine at the pharmacy for 10 euros, but they didn't compensate me. The doors and windows couldn't be closed properly; opening the window revealed the location shown in the picture. No matter how I changed rooms, it seemed to be right next to the street, extremely noisy with cars coming and going all day, like sleeping on the street. The bathroom and toilet were always full in the mornings; it was impossible to get one. There were only two bathrooms and toilets in the suite, and towels were only provided per person and not changed. No one cleaned the rooms, and the washing machine and dryer were not allowed. Ctrip listed a municipal tax of 33 euros, but they charged me over 40 euros when I got there. Later, they said they would only charge 33 euros because Ctrip listed it as 33 euros. This is the first time I've given a bad review after staying in hotels for so many years. If I had booked through Airbnb, I would definitely have received a refund, but not through Ctrip.

It's very close to Plaça Catalunya, making it convenient to take a bus to the airport. There are plenty of restaurants nearby, making it very convenient for sightseeing. You can walk to Casa Milà and Casa Batlló, if you prefer. However, being in a bustling area, it can be noisy, especially at night with car and motorcycle noise. Those who have trouble sleeping should be aware of this. The guesthouse provides earplugs. This is a guesthouse, not a hotel, so there's no front desk; you need to contact them in advance to confirm your arrival time. Speaking English is required; if your English is poor and you can't understand or speak it, it might be a little inconvenient.

Perfect location in the center of everything. Clean room and common areas: we hardly crossed paths with the other residents.

It's close to tourist attractions and located in the city center, offering excellent amenities. The kitchen is available for use, making it a great choice for budget travelers.

I have to say, this was the worst service experience I had during my trip to Spain, because we arrived at the hotel at 10 pm. When we contacted customer service (they close at 9 pm), they told us we needed to pay an extra 25 euros to wait for us. After we agreed, we discovered that no one was waiting for us. They had to give us instructions over the phone on how to get the keys, and we also had to pay a tax that Ctrip had already collected. The service was also terrible in the public restrooms, kitchen, and living room.
