We stayed here as part of a bus trip to Legoland. This hotel is dirty, run down and poorly managed. The room was grimy, the sofa was torn, stained and grim. Bathroom was covered in limescale, black mould with paint peeling off the ceiling. There was no coordination at evening meal or breakfast and they ran out of food after 15 guests had served up food. We had chicken nuggets and dry wilted salad - honestly shocking.

Excellent afternoon tea with friends. Delicious sandwiches, scones and cakes. Friendly and attentive service. We were made to feel very welcomed by all the staff. Recommend for anyone looking for a special treat. Thank you!

If you attempt to book a room via this hotel's website, you will quickly discover that all of its accommodation is fully booked until June 2042. Now this is an astonishing achievement. I have been in the hospitality industry since 1975, and I've never before witnessed 20 years of 100% occupancy. I appeal to the GM to tell the world his secret, so that we might all benefit. Alternatively, of course, he or she could sort out the website and stop losing frustrated customers. Too late for us, I'm afraid. We're going to the Holiday Inn instead.

I have stayed at city centre travelodge a lot and have stayed in rooms 901 and 801. These are really great family rooms, spacious, comfortable bed, en suite, iron, coffee machine and hot chocolate, coffee pods and kit kats topped up when requested with the door hanger. Great views and quiet. Staff are all brilliant...Rob, Sarah, katrina, Alan, Callan etc all very professional, helpful and friendly. They are often busy but still have a smile and work really hard. You have to pay for Parking at £5 per 24hrs. Thanks for a great stay Rich

A terrible experience. I took my friend for an afternoon tea as a birthday treat and on eating the scone we discovered the cream was off! We asked for a fresh pot of cream and the second pot was also off. We were told that the pot was "in date" so it should be fine. Despite complaining on the day and emailing the manager to complain we were not given any kind of refund. We were told "I will not be offering any form of refund. All other elements of the afternoon tea were eaten, we also provided additional scones and the clotted cream was replaced from different tubs." We ate the sandwiches and cake before getting to the scones, we were supplied with one replacement scone and the replacement cream was also off! Avoid at all costs.

We arrived and checked into our room, a Deluxe Suite. Having unpacked, we noticed that the bathroom door could not be shut properly, the door was too big to fit within the door frame. We asked to be moved and were offered another room, which I asked if it was exactly the same type of room, and was told it was. We moved to the new room, and it turned out to be a Studio Suite, a downgrade from the room that we had booked, and would have cost us just over £40 less had we originally booked a Studio Suite. We were lied to, and the staff were being deceptive rather than come clean about the truth. When we complained to reception they offered two complementary drinks at the bar. I was not happy to accept two complementary drinks as an alternative to a room that should have cost over £40 less. The Duty Manager did offer us a £40 refund the following morning, but we received a phone call from a member of staff a few days after our stay asking to charge a further £40 to our payment card, as she thought that we had been undercharged. Other issues we had were there was no decaffeinated tea available in the whole hotel. The breakfast was generally unimpressive: croissants were raw in the middle; there was only one type of milk available and it was in a beer pitcher so had no lid; there was no one showing guests to a table, so people were picking tables that were too close to each other – you had to move your chair to let someone sit down at another table. The safe didn’t work in the room. The windows wouldn’t close tightly so let noise and the cold in. Food from people’s room service was left in the corridor for the best part of 24 hours. The general cleanliness in the bathrooms wasn’t good, with black mildew growing along the sealant. The carpets had obvious water damage along a corridor. We chose this hotel because it had an in-house swimming pool. We were told, at the time of booking the stay, that the Horizons swimming pool was available to guests, and that no booking was required. When we went to the Horizons desk, the member of staff explained that we needed to book a time slot. We were allowed in, as there weren’t that many people already booked for that slot, but would have been furious if it had been fully booked. We would definitely not stay in this hotel again, and would not recommend it to anyone.

Overall a disappointing stay. The room was lacking basic things such as a hand towel or bath mat and I ran out of toilet roll. The wallpaper was peeling. There were bits of confetti on the floor from a previous stay. The hotel is next to a main road so got alot of road noise through the window. The hairdryer smelt like it was burning out when I used it. I didn't even bother with breakfast the second morning. It was cheaper than other hotels, so I guess you get what you pay for. Sorry I won't be coming back.
