It's been a year since my team find this 20+ years old hotel and it feels home, people work here from Front Desk officer to all staff are all accomodating. Also good job on improvement from the facade up to the rooms. 😀👍👍👍

Arrived late, tired, happy to shower and sleep... To realize there's no water in the shower. Asked the reception, after checking for 15 minutes, they told us it's normal because of low water pressure, that we should try again around 3am (!!!). Too late to change hotel and already paid over booking.com, so no refund... We are going to bed quote unhappy and smelly!

Breakfast is relatively simple, no fruit; facilities are generally, compared with domestic, the applicability is relatively weak; in addition, the suites are newly renovated, the taste is more pungent, need to follow up; secondly, there are few surrounding facilities, not very convenient. Finally, the hotel has a gym and swimming pool (lobby and accommodation area), perfect for fitness.
Batangas Country Club

Batangas Country Club is hands down the best hotel choice anywhere south of Manilla, and of course in the port city of Batangas. An absolute gem in every sense, easily exceeding standards and expectations of even jaded and picky travelers. Rooms and suites are superb, nicely furnished, bright and airy, quiet and comfortable, with a great AC. The WiFi – top level, excellent for work and streaming too. Good cable TV line up too. You have an excellent gym and spa available every day, morning to evening. Their amazing large pool and the surrounding plush area are in a perfect shape. The maintenance staff somehow manages to keep it in such immaculate condition yet remain invisible to the relaxing folks around the pool. The same goes for their housekeeping staff, a far cry from the US style of ever-present loud staff with loaded carts and radios – the BCC staff will do their superb job without even being noticed, always ready and available in a matter of minutes. The property is away from the downtown craziness, so yes, you will have peace and quiet in exchange for the distance. There is also a car with a driver available to take you to the city and bring back, free and on the first-come first-served basis. Or get a jeepney for a few bucks, at least that is not an issue anywhere in SE Asia! In addition to the perfect condition of the property, the staff seems to be their main asset, always available, yet positive, polite, cheerful and just seem happy to be there. The restaurant deserves a special mention – the food itself may be that one, sole and sufficient reason to visit BCC. I understand they have a new chef, Noah, who has now implemented a new menu and it is an absolute delight. From their early wonderful, free breakfast, thru great lunch time choices, ending with a variety of dinner options – it’s an all-day feast. Last but not least, this property is not pricey. You get what you pay for, this is a relaxing resort. Try to explore your downtown options and see what you get there - very likely it will be a subpar experience there. Whatever brings you to the south, this hotel seems like an obvious choice to stay!
The Philip Ann Resort

We booked to join friends as we were in Mabini area. Website talks about a luxury resort with a long list of amenities and activities. Well done photos make look like it has a lovely sand beach. No such thing. The sand is grey and is on a platform before getting to the sea. Some pebbles and mostly broken and eroded coral. Reality is somewhat different from luxury. Bling- bling small resort who tries hard to do everything but doesn’t do any very well. Rooms were comfortable for a 2-3star and had been renovated , but the advertised « sea view » was through a smallish side window. For all rooms. Plumbing needs rework. But a full minibar at decent prices was a nice amenity. Staff was generally nice, but generally lacking training and direction. Food comes from a rather basic and not very hygienic small kitchen and takes a long time to be delivered to either restaurant or other places. However, they will serve you anywhere you want in the resort, which is nice. Overall all staff very pleasant and accommodating. Food itself was very average and many items not available. At times the staff returned 2-3 times to say sorry not available. Huge portions made for 4-5 persons resulted in a lot of wastage. Probably better suited for Filipino families, like the rest of the resort. Definitely not for well traveled foreigners. At each meal staff gave us some complimentary drinks, which was nice, although not needed. Dive was OK, but diving center is a joke. Boat staff helpful and pleasant. So, overall it needs a lot of cleaning up, more focus and competent management. Meanwhile there are so many better resorts in Mabini area.
