My wife and I stayed at Paradisus Punta Cana for 10 nights, from Feb. 14 to Feb. 24, 2019. We are experienced travelers and have stayed at 13 all-inclusive resorts in Jamaica, Dominican Republic, and Mexico. Generally, Paradisus Punta Cana did not meet our expectations. This resort has a few positive features. The grounds are expansive and well groomed. Buildings are arranged in villas of approximately 16 units each. All but one night of our stay was spent in unit 2187, which was very close to the pool and most restaurants. Noise was not an issue, and our nights were quiet and restful. The beach is fabulous and great for walkers. A mile in each direction, no problem. Seaweed washed ashore a couple of days. This resort did not clean up the beach as well as other resorts we have experienced. There are not enough restroom, shower and foot washing stations near the beach. Most of the beach loungers are defective in that the notched prop for the backrest was installed backwards. This may sound trivial, but it makes it difficult to adjust the angle of your backrest. The pool is enormous and beautifully designed with a great swim up bar. There is not a lot of activity around the pool, so we spent most of our time on the beach. Upon arrival, we were assigned to room 1328, a first floor room. The room was full of mosquitoes and a number of items were in disrepair. The bathroom sink back-splash was warped and blistered from water and the faucet was old and tarnished. Rather than a bed for two, there were two smaller beds separated by a nightstand. There were only two small drawers in the closet and a rack to hang clothes. The drawers were not clean enough that I would put clothes in them. The bellman said that someone would be there in ten minutes to “put the beds together.” After 30 minutes, I tried to call Guest Services. Six calls, no answer. Finally I went to the front desk to request another room. Francine was very gracious, and later that evening offered us a new room for the next day, which we took. The second room was much better (2187). Still, the daily room cleaning and maintenance standard at this resort is lower than what we expect. Walking around the grounds was enjoyable. From our room to the hotel lobby was a five minute walk. The amount of resort vehicle traffic was very annoying. Passenger shuttles, service trucks and other resort vehicles were constantly driving by, causing pedestrians to have to move aside. There is plenty of room on this property to create a service drive; they should do it. The things I have mentioned so far may sound picky. We are experienced travelers and seek 5-star resorts because we want a high standard. In our opinion, this property does not meet that standard. We were generally disappointed in the food at this resort. The ala carte restaurants were average. We visited Mole, Aqua, Fuego, and The Grill. We thought each was just okay. The buffet, both Gabi Beach and Naos, was hugely disappointing. These two b
