Playa Turquesa Ocean Club

We enjoyed this property. The sargassum situation did put a damper on swimming options but we’re morning people so pool umbrellas were always accessible. Ocean club really needs to invest in more pool umbrellas as chairs are plentiful. The pool bar was never open and with the seaweed problem more could be done to elevate the guest experience. We did not need a SIM card as our unit had WiFi and everywhere we traveled did as well. The unit is central to everything. Uber never cost more than 190dop one way for El Cortecito. TOC restaurant has good food, drinks are so-so.

We spent 2 weeks here in May 2024 and had a fantastic trip !! There were 5 of us . The condo is spacious, bright and beautifully decorated ! The kitchen is equipped with everything you need to cook and BBQ. The balcony is huge and has very comfy patio furniture and it has a beautiful ocean view. We ate all our dinners outside . Tons of great restaurants just outside the complex. 24/7 security. The beach is beautiful and you can walk for hours both directions. There's an awesome little restaurant /bar right on the beach of the complex with great food, drinks and smoothies. We are already booked to go back in 2025 and we can't wait !!

Playa Turquesa is a beautiful apartment complex. This is our third year here and every time we stay a month. The complex has now new management and it shows. A large amount of palapa's have been placed on the beach for those seeking shade, as well as more loungers. A tractor with a seaweed raker has been purchased and is cleaning up the seaweed on the beach. A reverse osmosis system has been installed for the water (no more stinky smell) and while we were there they were digging for a well. Several members of the Owners board are very active in the overall improvements as well as enforcing security (preventing people who do not stay at PT to use the beach loungers or enter the property). There are increased amount of people from nearby apartments using the beach just in front of the PT huts and chairs, setting up their parasols and own tents even. On either side of PT are public accesses and the nice clean beach promotes other people to set up camp for the day. The boat/activity centre next to Whala (Now HM hotel) also causes the occasionally noise, with boats anchored there playing very loud music. There is also still the issue of excessive noise (music) from the disco and various restaurants and bars, especially if you are in Building P (but O and A also have noise issues). Building P apartments ending in a 1 or 5 have the bedrooms facing the disco/bars/restaurants and music starts at 8:30 pm and ends at 3 am. Also loud music is playing now during lunch (coming from the cigar place). The owner's board has been trying for a long time to curb the music but to no avail as there are no laws in the Dominican addressing this. Taking the local bus (Traumabapu) to Jumbo is easy. Just stand in front of the billboards of the unfinished building opposite PT ***** mall and wave the bus down. The cost is currently 50 DOP pp. It stops near very close to Jumbo. Leaving from Jumbo there is actually a bus stop, where you can wait for the bus. Ubers are also very good and convenient. Barter with the "Poppi" taxi's and double verify the agreed price with the driver.
