We stayed at Pondok Santi Estate in Gili Trawangan for four nights, and from the very first moment, everything exceeded our expectations. The level of service is outstanding — a true 5 out of 5 — and the experience feels much more like a five-star luxury resort rather than a hotel.
Every detail is beautifully designed and perfectly maintained. The rooms are spacious, elegant, and extremely comfortable. Housekeeping is impeccable, and the staff is attentive without ever being intrusive.
The restaurant experience deserves special praise. The food quality, presentation, and service were consistently excellent. Breakfasts were a highlight of our stay — fresh, delicious, and served in a peaceful, beautiful setting that made every morning feel special.
What truly sets this resort apart is the warmth and professionalism of the team. From the room staff to the restaurant team, everyone made us feel genuinely welcome and well cared for throughout our stay.
Personally, Gili Trawangan itself is not a destination that impressed me greatly. However, Pondok Santi Estate completely transformed our experience and made the island a place I would happily return to again — specifically because of this resort.
We feel very fortunate to have stayed here and are deeply grateful for such a memorable and high-quality experience. Pondok Santi Estate is a true sanctuary of comfort, elegance, and exceptional hospitality, and we would not hesitate to return.

GGuest UserThe hotel's location is fantastic, right on the beachfront with private sun loungers. The staff are welcoming, and there's a tap outside each villa to rinse off sand after the beach. We were greeted wonderfully and checked in immediately as our room was ready. They promptly brought welcome drinks and cold towels.
Regarding the downsides: there are no disposable toothbrushes or body lotion. The water isn't in disposable bottles but in a carafe that you have to refill yourself in the lobby. The room is very dark with insufficient lighting. The windows aren't airtight, leading to high street noise, especially when the call to prayer starts at night. The refrigerator is also very noisy. The air conditioner is positioned to blow directly onto the bed, so we had to sleep with our heads at the foot of the bed. The AC is also loud. There were strange worm-like caterpillars crawling in the bathroom and room. There are no power outlets near the beds. Breakfast is à la carte, with an additional buffet offering vegetables, fruits, cheese, cold cuts, and pastries. The breakfast food isn't very good; poached eggs were overcooked. A plus is that you can order several dishes from the menu. The latte coffee was very bitter, and I had to add milk myself. I believe the price for this hotel is too high. The only plus is the location – it's conveniently situated a 10-minute walk from the port and has a beach spot where you can see turtles.

LLaurie972Very beautiful place in front of the beach with an excellent staff and service. People are warm and very helpful if you have any questions or need any help. The rooms is clean and cozy.
The room for 2 is a bit small I will say, might need to choose a bigger option if you like having a bit more space. I will add that I thought it was a bit dark and missing some daily light inside. The bathroom outside with open sky was good until the rain and wind were too strong to actually use it. The environment around the hotel is very peaceful and not too busy compared to the center. You can easily rent a bike and go to the center at any time if you want. Very convenient. You have a very good restaurant next door with great selection or food and beverages as well.

CCN Man 420We stayed as two couples and had a spectacular time at Kelapa. Ren the manager was ready to help our every need straight away and helped us book bikes and trips. She went as far as confirming we didn't pay too much when we booked others on our own. The villa itself was clean, tidy and exactly what we were looking for. The pool is huge but rather deep for the most part so you'll want to keep an extra eye on children.
The Kelapa boys would come by to clean the place every morning about 10-11am and did an excellent job. They were very polite and made sure not to go into your room to clean without asking first.
I gave one less star on location because it's in the heart of the island where it's much quieter. If you're looking for a night out you'll definitely need a bike or carriage arranged, otherwise you can expect a long walk home.
We originally booked 3 nights and very quickly decided to add on to our stay. Thanks so much Ren and Team for an unforgettable visit!

AAnonymous UserWe stayed in the big villa as there were 7 of us. Rooms were spacious & toilets were huge and clean.
There were, however, 2 cockroaches that we killed over the 5D4N of our stay. Apart from that, cleanliness was good.
Breakfast portions were alright. We could order an ala carte item and the rest was buffet style - pancakes, soup, fruits, nasi goreng & mee goreng (fried rice & fried noodles), fruit juices & breakfast cereals.
Breakfast time is 8am-11am. Some of our dives were at 8am so they couldn't make breakfast earlier which is a minus point - Gili Trawangan is a dive island yo.
They have a nice beachfront & provide beach towels for free so u can chill & order food there.
Would be nice if they have taps at the front of our big villa to wash our sandy feet.

SSPANE01The Gili Palms is a smaller resort with 14 bungalows.
The bungalows have airconditioning and a safe. The bed is not too hard or too soft, just right. The shower is party open-air.
The breakfast is from 7-10 am, and very nice, with juices, pancakes, jaffre, fruit and Nescafé or tea.
There is complementary coffee during 24h per dag.
There is a nice pool which is cleaned several times during the day as frangipangi flowers from the trees around fall in. But everything in a quiet and very nice surrounding. The best of all is the team and the manager. They are extremely friendly and helping out wherever they can .
They offer boat trips, and you can rent a bicycle for getting around the island.
The resort is about 100 meters walking to the turtle beach. This is the best beach around the island.

GGuest UserThe room was nice, with several outlets on the wall, including both a two-pin and three-pin Chinese standard. The hotel has two adult swimming pools (1.6m and 1.3m deep) and one children's pool (0.8m deep). Breakfast is a full buffet with a wide variety of options, and the Vietnamese pho was delicious. A thoughtful touch was the restaurant calling our room to remind us about breakfast if we hadn't shown up by 9 AM. The downsides are the late 2 PM check-in time. Also, being located on the northern beach, dining options and snack shops nearby are limited, so you'll need to rent a car to get around and find food.

GGuest UserOverall, the exterior and breakfast were nice. However, as expected, the cleanliness issues—such as the outdoor restrooms, showers, and ants on the floor—seem unavoidable. Haha. If you are willing to take this into account, then go.

XxcratLocation is good, thats why i chose this hotel. Its not on the main street. But Im solo guy so this is best for me. Near to jetty and near to one and only night market and main night life area and all cafes. Hotel offers bikes rental and day trips with reasonable price. Its good enough for solo or couple who would go for diving for few days on the island. If u r in gili for more than 2 days, I’d suggest u go north to explore better hotels and different experiences on the island or meno or air would be for you. Very near to the beach for sun rise as well. Bfast is superb and other meals as well. Staffs are very friendly and helpful. Pool is normal but they managed to use for the available space for it. Close to local mosque but they do provide some kinda ear plugs for that. But its just few mins during the day. Highly recommended. You cant expect very good hotels on the island with less crowded crowd and this is good enough for few days esp when its close to the jetty to leave.
