We booked the Xiaofengxian Hotel as our base for a four-night stopover in Beijing. The location is fantastic—it’s situated on a hutong street full of local character, and you are spoiled for choice with easy access to several subway stations, providing quick and inexpensive travel to the many tourist sites Beijing has to offer. Dashilan area is only a short stroll away.
The rooms are well equipped and come with many perks. Our queen-size bed even had a massage function, the minibar was complimentary and refilled daily, and the air conditioning kept us warm despite the sub-zero temperatures outdoors. The hotel décor follows a Roaring Twenties Art Deco theme.
Our daughter loved dressing up in the provided Chinese silk dresses and modelling in the stylish photo-shoot locations scattered throughout the hotel. The staff are incredibly helpful and obliging, and they speak excellent English. We gratefully accepted a room upgrade, breakfast, complimentary afternoon tea, and clothes cleaning. These lovely people were truly the icing on the cake, making our stay at this cosy, comfortable, and centrally located hotel even more special.
Breakfast deserves a special mention—it was incredibly delicious and accompanied by excellent coffee.
Would we stay here again? Absolutely!
