Dong Fang Hotel

The room was a bit small, but the hotel is a quiet oasis in a lively area. It's very close to the subway station and surrounded by hutongs, with many great small eateries tucked away in the alleyways. It's also within walking distance of Qianmen Pedestrian Street. Overall, a good experience.

The room was clean and tidy, perfect for staying with kids. It's not far from the surrounding attractions, which saved us time and taxi fares. Plus, we could see the Beijing nightscape from the room.

Although renovated in 2016, the hotel is clean, offers great service, and the rooms are spacious. It's conveniently located near both Zhushikou and Hufangqiao subway stations. In the alley leading to Zhushikou subway station, the sesame paste cold noodles at 'Gongmenkou Mantou' are delicious, and the lamb's head meat and numbing pepper chicken at 'Hongji Baishui Yangtou' are absolutely amazing. During our stay, there were many international guests checking in daily. We stayed in room 909, which had a large floor-to-ceiling window offering views of the Temple of Heaven. When we checked out, the staff even gave our child several bottles of Beibingyang soda, which made them incredibly happy!

The bedding was soft and skin-friendly, ensuring a good night's sleep. It had great natural light and ventilation, and the facilities were complete and practical. The toiletries were of good quality. This hotel is super close to Qianmen, which is great for an evening stroll and some delicious food. It's also really convenient for visiting Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City the next day. The cafe at the entrance is a popular spot, with many people dressing up in Republic of China-era clothing for photos – it's a nice touch.

Facilities: Everything was great, except for the central air conditioning not cooling. Understandable given it's a historic building, but the room was too hot 🥵. Cleanliness: Very good, 💯 Ambiance: Excellent, 💯. The cafe on the first floor has a nice atmosphere, but the adjacent garden is still under renovation. Service: Very good.

I visited Beijing with my family during the ***** New Year. Considering I had an 80-year-old elder and a one-year-old child with me, I chose the Oriental Hotel for its proximity to Tiananmen Square. Overall, I was quite satisfied and it met my expectations. Facilities: As an older hotel, the facilities are definitely just average. The room lighting was dim, and the bathroom was quite old. I had read other reviews beforehand, so it was acceptable. I booked two standard rooms, and the beds could be moved. For those with children, you can push the twin beds together or move them against the wall. Cleanliness: Decent. Service: The service was genuinely excellent, especially the cleaning auntie on the 5th floor. Seeing that we had a child, she gave us extra garbage bags and bottled water. The staff at the second-floor restaurant for dinner were also very enthusiastic, and you can tell the hotel is genuinely focused on management and service. Although the Xicheng district isn't very lively, it's very close to all the central attractions. Taxis are convenient, and there are many dining options nearby, making food delivery easy. I would recommend it to friends visiting Beijing.
