Beijing Chaoyangmen Manxin Hotel

The bathroom door in the room opens inwards, which could easily injure guests' feet. My foot got scratched, and the hotel didn't have any first-aid supplies like bandages or alcohol.

The hotel's location is great. It's convenient for dining and getting around by taxi. I used to prefer staying near Wangfujing and Qianmen when visiting Beijing, but it was too crowded and noisy. This place, however, is a peaceful haven in a bustling area. The mattress is comfortable, and the facilities are quite new. I'll definitely stay here again.

The environment here is superb, and the service is excellent. The breakfast selection is also very rich. They even gave me a free room upgrade! I had a very comfortable stay. The ambiance is much better than the Atour next door, and it's cheaper. Highly recommend!

The room window was a joke, just a solid wall. Breakfast was practically non-existent, and the room itself was tiny, being on the first floor. The minibar only had water. In short, it was terrible! Proceed with caution if you're thinking of staying here!

Our stay was quite disappointing. The hygiene on the first floor was really concerning. We found a giant flying cockroach, about 5cm long, in our room. At first, I even thought it was a mouse! It was zipping around the room and almost landed on me. In the end, we, the guests, had to kill it with a suitcase, which even startled the cleaning lady. Given that the restaurant/canteen is right next to the first floor, I seriously doubt their hygiene standards. Once you see one cockroach, it usually means there's an infestation. Hotel door gaps are big enough for them to squeeze through. After we reported the pest problem, the hotel didn't promptly offer pest control or any solutions. For a mid-range hotel under the Huazhu brand, this was truly disappointing. Another small detail: the disposable toilet seat covers provided by the hotel didn't fit their toilets. The middle and back parts of the toilet seat were completely exposed. When I brought this up, the hotel insisted they had a standard purchase and couldn't provide other sizes. They continued to fob us off with the ill-fitting covers. I think it would be much better to provide a suitable cover, even if it costs a few extra yuan, rather than having the front desk staff stubbornly try to 'force' the ill-fitting ones on. The poor hygiene coupled with inflexible service shows a complete disregard for guest experience and health. I hope they make improvements. The bug was so disgusting, it almost crawled on my girlfriend, so I didn't take a photo. You can check the lobby surveillance footage to verify my claim.

Could the breakfast selection be a bit richer with more options? And when checking out, could there be a warm farewell? It felt like dealing with a robot – you just leave and that's it, as if they've got their money and don't care. Don't other hotels in every city offer a small gift upon check-out? I've stayed at places in Beijing that did, so did your hotel just forget, or do you not offer this at all? Nowadays, tourists really value quality and thoughtful service. If you paid attention to these details, maybe I'd choose to stay here again next time. Don't be one of those places that's all about a quick sale, or so big that they don't care about the customer experience.
