Clayton Hotel Belfast

Belfast|0.2km from Royal Ulster Rifles Museum
Very disappointed with the horrible customer service received at this hotel. Firstly you can’t charge nothing to your room without a card being presented at check in! So far nothing extremely awkward as I travel around the world and with the exception of the hotel chains that I have membership, inhame been asked before to present a credit card to be inserted in the hotel system as a guarantee. The awkwardness start when the receptionist start asking how much you want to put in ?? It seemed more to be on a top up shop than in a hotel! So as I am staying just a couple of nights (already payed for) and being caught by surprise I asked for a 100£ credit to the room, payment went trough etc, got to the bar and was told that I had to pay there for the drinks to which I responded that I had just put a credit in and for the bartender to verify, “computer says nooo” like type of answer, he then called reception, followed by same type of operation with computer still saying nooo. A girl who seemed to be the bar manager, absolutely didn’t bother to come and get involved in order to excuse the hotel for whatever mistake was happening, I ended up paying for the drinks with my card even with a credit of 100£ Worse than this: Breakfast today, received by the restaurant manager who requested my room number, with little to no sympathy at all with a shut face very poor wording took note of room Nr and asked me to wait at the bar area as she needed to prepare a table for me, which was fine. Minutes later a young waitress came and call me for a table already settled. She inform me of the buffet and I request a menu as I’ve dietary demands and knew what I wanted actually. I stated that i wanted to poached eggs on brown bread toast with either smoked salmon or avocado or even a bit of salad. The girl asked me to wait a bit and went to the restaurant manager to ask. I was flabbergasted by the answer of the terrible, horrible and rude creature that is breakfast room manager at this hotel. “ my manger says that we would do the 2 poached eggs, but we don’t have salmon, avocado nor salad” ??? You can do your own toast at the buffet Which I did of course alternative was going and eat out! Coffee machine broken, but mysteriously repair itself after a lot of customers complaint (specially because everyone could see another operational coffee machine at the bar. I think they’re understaffed as I could see the bartender from last night which I saw closing the bar at 23h40, and was there already today at 8h30am ? Staff must be shattered with workload but, they either choose to move (there’s a lot of job offer in the sector) or they take the risk of being frustrated and being rude with customers who keep the hotel running. This besides my colleagues in upper floors being abruptly waked up at 6ish am with construction work on the roof, and when called reception were told “yeah it’s some repairs in the roof and we don’t know until when it’d last” Unbelievable!!! On a positive no

From the moment we arrived to the moment we left, every single member of staff was superb - they just could not do enough to help, from directions, room service requests, nothing was too much and everything is done with a smile - that really is the difference between a good hotel and a great one. All of the public areas and amenities were clean and some stunning artwork, from giant chandeliers to antique furniture and paintings all around. I could've spent a week here just wandering around admiring it all. We stayed in room 318 - it is very opulent with lots of plush furnishings and a very comfortable bed. Unfortunately the windows don't open - there are 2 aircon units in the suite, but I like a bit of fresh air. There is a lot of furniture in the room - beautiful old cabinets in keeping with the theme, but, you couldn't access the minibar in the room as the tv unit was in the way of the door opening fully so we had no way of chilling water, etc. The hotel provided plenty of icebuckets to compensate but it's a pity it wasn't thought out a bit more.

I booked a Premier Plus room for 8 nights. I did not receive the complimentary water / sweet treats / tea advertised. I had to go to reception daily to request water - I finally received water after 4 days. Secondly, I was overcharged in the restaurant and had to wait 20 minutes for this to be resolved (by 3 different members of staff). I was also charged for someone else's meal and drinks despite dining alone. You have to request for your room to be serviced at reception which basically only includes emptying the bin and changing the towels. The bed is not made and no cleaning / hoovering is carried out. In the premier room the water is not topped up and sweet treats are not provided daily. You have to continuously ask Reception for water and then wait 4 days for it to be put into the room. Thirdly, the Reception area is often uncovered so you have to walk into the restaurant to find a member of staff. The only positives - the bed is comfortable and the location is good. I would only advise staying for the night and not bother paying for the premier plus upgrade. Some of the staff are friendly and professional, however, the majority are not.
Holiday Inn Belfast City Centre

Stayed here in March, 2023, and could not fault anything whatsoever. The hotel is in a very central location, within easy walking distance of all the main tourist attractions. Rooms were large and well maintained and the breakfast buffet offered a wide choice. Whilst often the hot elements of hotel buffets are served warm/lukewarm at best, here the hot buffet was served very hot and the quality of the ingredients was excellent. Final word must be regarding the staff. All the staff we interacted with, from the booking team through to the front desk staff, were absolutely first class and they could not do enough to assist you, from our need to change the dates of our booking due to a cancelled flight, right through to arranging a taxi back to the airport for us. All the staff were a real credit to the company and give an excellent impression, from a customer service perspective.

The location is good, right in the city center, there are supermarkets around, and it is only 5 minutes to the central pedestrian street. Unlike other hotels, the heating equipment is air-conditioned, so the effect is average.

Stayed here for 3 nights for qcon, staff were very friendly and didn't judge on my cosplays. Enjoyed watching the channels challenge and citv on the tv when coming back after an exhausting day. Having the bath to relax my muscles was divine.

I just spent two nights at ETAP Belfast and I can’t say anything bad about it! Though the rooms are small, it’s fair for the price! What is the best in this hotel is the staff! Always cheerful and keen to help, really professional! Especially Nathan, the receptionist that was working when I arrived! So polite and always making small talk which is very good and makes us feel comfortable. He is the cherry on top of the cake, if there’s any chance make sure he knows about it! He made my 3 day holiday worth it. Thank you Nathan 😍
