Belogorye

Stayed for one night at the Belogorye Hotel a few weeks ago. A night before I made a phone call so, the receptionist gave me information about the rooms availability, facilities nor prices. I came at the time when all spa facilities were not operated due to annual maintenance, so besides the fact that nothing is working pretty much, I have paid a full price for the room. Reception: Pretty nice ladies, very polite, helpful. Showed me a few rooms before I made a reservation. Room: I’ve booked a Lux room with a balcony, to be frank, there is nothing special in that room. It had a phone, so I tried to call reception a few times but it was unsuccessful, the guest information book is looking dodgy and useless. The bathtub was leaking somehow, so the water was running on the floor (not much but made it was wet enough to use a couple of towels to dry it out). Restaurant: The worst place in the hotel, not by looking but by experiencing. I’ll start from the very beginning. As it was Sunday night, the restaurant was empty. Most of the time if not even all-time it was just only one table (our table). The manager Kristina has greeted us and when we went to the restaurant, we’ve never seen her until we finished our dinner. So, the dinner… waiter took an order for 2 courses, clarified a few times about condiments for the main course then he left. Now I began to see a low level of staff competence and their poor service skills. So, the waiter brought a bottle of wine I’ve ordered, then he opened it and approached the table with the open bottle, but he forgot to bring wine glasses to us. Then we’ve been waiting for our first course. The first course was hot entrees, tiger prawns with potato pancakes and julienne with duck and mushrooms, both dishes were absolutely delicious! Then the main course was 2 steaks – one was medium well with peppercorn sauce and another one is medium rare with mushroom sauce. So, for the second course, we were not been given steak knives, it is a part of the service to know what cutlery must be provided for the particular food. So, the steaks have arrived…… Instead of the peppercorn sauce, my friend was given a whole ramekin of Tabasco sauce…. Jeezzz…. Then my sauce has not arrived at all because chefs have forgotten to make it… also my steak was not medium rare as I ordered, it was rare… too raw for me, so I could eat only a half of it. The waiter was just confused and scared of his incompetence. Then I wanted to get a shot, I had to go to the bar and ask a bartender if he can make something for me as some of the items on the menu were not available. So the next morning is breakfast… Same waiter approaching our table, there was no buffet line so, the waiter was just announcing the food options. The order was simple as fck, just 2 omelets with ham and cheese… he said we can do sunny side up eggs…. I said, man omelet is the same egg but mashed…. In a few minutes time waiter approaching me and tells that chefs can not make an omelet
