There’s a lot of good about Corona del Mar and we only had a couple of *******. The staff are super friendly, especially the bar staff. They create a really fun atmosphere and are very attentive. The hotel is spotlessly clean, and it smells clean too, all surfaces are sparkling. Housekeeping were excellent, we tipped every day leaving a thank you note on the pillow, this was left for us in a different place, sometimes with an added message of appreciation, which was lovely. We stayed on a full board basis, but only ate once in the buffet once because it was just so busy. The food we had on that one occasion was really nice, but the food is located at one end of the room and then the tables are spread right up the room. It would be better if it was located somewhere in the middle. Our major gripe was, that it seems like a lot of non-residents go to in for the buffets and therefore this reduces space for actual residents which was really disappointing and we just gave up trying in the end. It’s rather expensive to stay here but we justified this by it being full board. Therefore, we left feeling a bit out of pocket. We were told that we could request a late checkout on the day of departure and to check with reception before or after breakfast (breakfast starts at 8am). So I got up and went down at 7am to be told I had to wait until 8am shift change. I returned at 8am to be told late checkout was not possible. Bit of a faff tbh and I would recommend securing a late checkout if required at the time of booking. The indoor pool was great and the welcome pack upon late arrival was appreciated. I also received a bottle of cava for my birthday which was a lovely surprise. The hotel is largely superb and we would not discount staying there again but we would book the minimum board basis.
