Hotel Villa del Mar

Hotel is a great location to walk into both the old and new town. Right on the beach. Spacious clean accommodation. Food options are great, tasty and lots of healthy options. Carol is a real asset to the hotel. Speaks English and fluent Spanish. She is very attentive. Makes an amazing cocktail and delivers it with a smile. Thanks Carol.

Beautiful sea view from our jacuzzi room, location is very good for shops and restaurants and bars everything in a good range! Room kept stunningly clean every day. Fresh towels and smelling clean and fresh, staff are delightful and welcoming in all areas including buffet, bars everything and reception nothings been any bother such a beautiful atmosphere, great value for money and experience has been a unique and wonderful experience

I cannot recommend this Hotel high enough. All the staff are so nice and friendly and helpful. We had our birthdays here as were treated like royalty. The hotel is spotless all through. Rooms cleaned every day. 2 weeks of doing nothing except eat and drink. Location is near to old town

Sorry for the delay in writing this review, but because we stay at the hotel so often we need to wait 3 months between reviews So, we stayed over the New Year and the gala dinner on New Year’s Eve was as delicious and spectacular as the one we had in 2023. I would recommend a stay at New Year for the dinner alone. The entertainment and party afterwards cannot be sniffed at either. We met some great friends, mostly Spanish, and danced the night away. Next we stayed in February for my wife’s birthday. The sea view room was great and the week very relaxing. Of course, she got spoilt. First we had a lovely lunch with some Spanish friends we know. Then Gina surprised her with a slice of cake with a candle and Karen and the other staff sang happy birthday. Finally some people we met had gone out and bought a cake. Sophia stopped the show in the Llum de Coral and presented her with it. Then everyone sang happy birthday. My wife will never forget everyone’s kindness. I want to thank everyone who works at the Villa Del Mar for making our stay so special in particular Gina, Karen, and Veneta (Qué tal) from the restaurant. Carol and Gabby from the bars. Sophia for keeping us entertained and for the video of my wife dancing on stage with Alejandr Lax the most excellent guitarist. You truly are our Familia española. See you in June.

The location of this hotel is great, the beach was wonderful and being in walking distance to Old town suited us but the hotel was disappointing. The all inclusive catering options were extensive but 'hot meal' options weren't appealing, I appreciate that this could be down to my preference. It was noted both my family and other guests the cooked options weren't always hot, another family heated their food in the microwave most evenings. The salad bar was pleasing with lots of options including meat, tuna, cheeses. There was also a lovely range of fruit available and so I was able to suffice. The children particularly enjoyed the ice cream machine. The drinks were premium and this was welcomed. Our experience of some of the serving bar staff wasnt great and it didn't look like they particularly enjoyed their work. The waiting staff were much more welcoming and interactive. It was disappointing for an AI package in a 4.5 star hotel that ice creams and lollies for the kids were not available at the pool despite a freezer being there it was empty. The main pool area is guarded by huge seagulls that we witnessed a staff member feeding- not great. We only visited the roof top bar once due to needing to entertain the children but the view was wonderful. There was a noticeable smell around the hotel which isn't pleasant, some stronger smelling cleaning chemicals might help. Decor is dated, the room minibar wasnt cold (we didn't use ours). The bathroom - the fittings weren't secure, the shower caused the bathroom to flood. The entertainment in the basement didn't attract many visitors leaving the area lacking atmosphere and whilst the kids made there own entertainment in the soft play the smell in there was not nice at all.

Room available on arrival with a welcoming bottle of cava in the fridge very clean room and.comfortable bed reception staff and the hospitality team made us both very welcome and the addition of being able to order a picnic for day trips made a huge difference in our budget definitely saving up to come again.

Stayed here in late November and wasn’t over impressed. Hotel position is excellent and the reception, bar areas and restaurant were all clean and modern looking. The rooms, although clean, were dated and slightly shabby. Ours, a superior sea view room, was on the first floor, directly above the front loading area. The sea view was somewhat spoiled by a bent metal lamp post directly in front of the window. Food was poor and very repetitive (pork and fish seemed to feature at every meal). The three bar areas were good, the pre mixed cocktails were not. We took out the “ultra all inclusive package” for which we paid extra. Much is promised but very little delivered because “it’s out of season” Fair enough if you are told about this at the time of booking and not when you arrive. Even now the holiday company we travelled with are selling (at an extra cost) the “ultra all inclusive” for next year claiming that you get all sorts of extras. If it’s anything like this year, these extras will not be available in the winter months. If you do come here “out of season”, just go for the ordinary “all inclusive” it’s not much different from the “ultra all inclusive” and will save you a few euros. We found the reception staff quite “unreceptive” when we approached them with our issues. A final point, the hotel charge you three euros per day for using the in room safe and one euro per bag for weighing your case before departure - minor amounts, but something I’ve never had to pay for before.
